What's On Your Workdesk, Wednesday?

and in memory of Eliza - a dear WOYWW friend who will be sadly missed across the world.

My room today is in disarray - I've started the big pack for our move.
There are two panoramic shots as the day progressed - it got worse!!
I don't feel like I got very far at all but the next photo shows I have at least sorted and tossed some stuff.
Here's a close up early on - that white box is full of handmade cards from friends...I can't toss them out...any ideas what I can do.  The maroon box is another box I cards I have made - they show me how far I have progress with my creativity, so I can revamp to actually use.
I had to tidy it mid afternoon so I can see where I've been and what to tackle next.
worldwide woywwThanks for taking a peek today - I'm sending out a hug to you all as we mourn our lost friend.  Julia you have created a world wide network of friends...something very special.  If you'd like to know more about WOYWW please visit Julia's blog

  1. I can't believe Eliza has gone....she'll be sorely missed, that's for sure. It just goes to show how strong friendships can be made in blog land.
Are you on the move again? I though you hadn't been in your current place that long. Where are you off to this time? Good luck with it all anyway :-)

  2. Good luck with the move. Never knew if I liked or hated moves - it´s exciting but the packing always stressed me. So I refuse to ever move again since we bought this house ;) Happy WOYWW though,

  3. Thanks for everything (I think you know what I mean) you were my star on Friday night (UK time) even though it was sad news you were bringing me.
Gosh Robyn, I have thought of moving but seeing the chaos it causes in a craft room I will have to think again.
Good luck with it. Where are you off to?
Hugs and Thanks for the early visit to me - Neet xx (26)

  4. I'm sure we are all feeling the pain of Eliza's loss today....she was a special lady wasn't she? I guess that's what being part of such a loving caring blogging family brings with it.
I really hope your packing up and sorting goes well.....I have a feeling you will be emptying your boxes at the other end before me :-)
    Hugs,

  7. Well done you for making a start at sorting stuff pre-move. No, don't throw away cards that other people have sent you. (If they are handmade that is). You keep them to look at when you are feeling low and you will know that you are loved. And you look at them when you need inspiration. There's always an idea you can borrow and put your slant on it.
Sad news indeed about Eliza's passing.
    Thanks for visiting,
    Have a great week,

  14. Oh my, the thought of moving at this stage of the game gives my palpitations. Good for you!

I have folders in my file cabinet filled with cards I've received. Every so often I go through them for a smile.

Thanks for the blog visit earlier!

  15. Wow you have such a lot of sorting to do Robyn but you've certainly got the bit between your teeth.
I was shocked to her about Eliza and she's been in my thoughts throughout today. When I lived in Melbourne we often nattered through the WOYWW desk hop regularly.
Good luck with your move and with your reorganizing.

  18. Yes, we are all mourning Eliza today. Thank you for visiting me earlier. Love the panoramic shots! I'm impressed with your mess, that is no longer a mess! You are a gal after my own heart. When it comes to organizing and packing I always make a bigger mess first. Kudos to you for finding things to purge. I'm sure we could all use some purging. We are planning to move in March with the idea that between now and then we can downsize. We did really good for a couple of weeks but now it is almost like we forgot our plans. It is good that you were here to remind us. I have tomorrow off and will take a stab at a pile or two.

Oh, almost forgot. When it comes to cards from friends I kept some of the real gems--extra special cards or ones that inspired me to creativity. The rest I cut off the fronts and passed them on to a friend who runs an elder care home. She pins them up on the resident's bulletin boards to brighten their day. Sometimes I remount the front or if the card is blank inside I give it to a friend who sends cards to people in the hospital. I try to give the cards new life. Hope that helps.

  19. Every time I think of moving I cringe at the thought of packing up my art studio. As artists we accumulate a lot, so I can see how it would be overwhelming. Good luck getting it all packed!

  20. ack! I hope the move goes smoothly Robyn, no ideas on the what to do with the cards you have received. (mine are in a box too) cept' old atc's are in photo albums with baseball card page protectors so, they are tucked into those pockets. I am thinking maybe leave them in the box until you are unpacking again and then maybe get a way to display a few on the wall so you can rotate them around? ( I picked up an old wooden window intending to remove the glass and install chicken wire in the holes for that) but, hubs does not want me to smash the glass out and he has been to busy to remove it yet...

  21. erk!!!!! my heartfelt commiserations Robyn would dread to to think of moving but one day will happen I know.. am I going mad or did you move last year too? forgetful, bu feel you moved not long ago.

re the cards I have re-gifted some .. ie found someone (or op shop who could resell them?) who doesn't make cars but has use for variety and I made inserts for them and then gave them to her... of course there are some I do save .. but found its too many to handle otherwise.

Praying for you as you pack.. that it all makes it way safely to its new location, too. :D and yes tis s vy sad re Eliza still find it hard to believe.
Thanks so much for popping over and for sharing.

  25. Ahh Robyn, the joys of moving, and the even bigger joys of packing up one's studio! (not...) I remember it well! What a job. Hope it all goes smoothly for you. Such very sad news about Eliza. I shall so miss seeing her and lovely Yoda every week, and sharing cat chat with her. Yoda was like Beatrice's pen pal across the globe and while she was sitting on my lap when I was doing WOYWW, I used to show her pictures of Yoda.

Thanks for your visit and your nice comment. I saw my 2 fellow inmates from hospital this morning - we are now great buddies - and we all agreed that what happened to us was a wake up call and we need to cherish each moment and make the most of our lives! So glad you like what I am doing - I am certainly feeling better now as I climb up the ladder before my next treatment on 24th, when I shall slide down the snake again lol!! Have to take advantage of feeling better, to get lots of art done!

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  27. Hiya, your craft room looks very well stocked, I can't imagine having to move all that and then trying to get some order out of it in a new home, rather you than me.
Thanks for your lovely welcome back, however we are off again very soon, to Holland to my sister's golden wedding and a bit of caravanning with the two of them. Max is going to be so unimpressed when we go away without him..
