Happy Birthday

For my card today I have used the colours at Power Poppy - Hues to Use (ongoing inspiration)... three shades of blue. I used Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink to stamp my image 'off the edge' and also to colour the image.  I added some white highlights with gel pen and then cut and layered the two image panels to create a double fold card.  To finish I stamped and silver embossed my sentiment and added a few scattered gems.  I am also posting to Watercooler Wednesday challenge #WWC136 - All About Birthdays and The Flower Challenge #12 - Tic Tac Toe... I am playing the left vertical - Embossing, Gems, White.   Thanks for taking a peek

Live all the Days of your Life

Today I have made an Easel Card in the form of a Calendar.
Over at Kaisercraft blog the November challenge #1  is... "time to start your next years calendar/journal/filofax." and at Scor-pal challenge #10 the thene is Family or Thanksgiving... while here in Australia we don't really celebrate Thanksgiving as elaborately as in the US I thought these calendars would be a great 'thank you' gift for family when we stay over during the holidays.
So I have used papers and elements from the Kaisercraft Pickled Pear set, stamped and coloured the floral sprig and fussy cut it and mounted it over a band of hessian and ribbon on the front of the card, then added one of the die cut sentiments from the set which I thought very appropriate for a calendar. Inside I adhered a band of weatherboard paper matching the front and a scalloped edge and then the mini calendar and finished off with a wood flourish and handmade flower - which helps to support the easel as the calendar pages are removed.
I really enjoyed making the card, not difficult at all and will be off to select some more papers and elements for the next one.  Lucky for me I have these great thick card envelopes I have had for a while to use with them.
I am also posting my card to Just Add Ink  #240 where the theme is to ADD Texture.
Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Estelle's birthday card

Well overnight I've been busy making a special card for a Estelle - a very crafty lovely friend whose birthday is tomorrow
So some thought went into this creation - she loves black and white so I figured to start with a black box and then when you open the lid ouy pops a beautiful splash of colour with the flowers and butterflies. I'm really happy with the result (thank you Monika for you inspiration - check out her lovely work here.
I'm going to post on a new blog challenge site for me - Allsorts challenge - week 194, Things with Wings.
Thanks for taking a peek

Fathers' Day card

It's Fathers' Day next weekend and this card needs to be in the mail today... it was a bit tricky making a male card this time as most of my masculine stamps are wood mounted and these I chose not to bring with me because of the storage space problem in our caravan. Anyway I did manage to find this comical one and added my own sentiments. I was planning to make this card with a tapering shape like my friend Vikki but in the end decided I should've cut the shape first so it's just a tri-fold. Thanks for taking a peek...see you again

MojoMonday 249

Sooooo....I've found some time to make a couple of cards...this one is for our sons birthday next month but as we are on holiday and travelling (a lot) I took this opportunity while staying with friends in Darwin to make his card. Natalie my friend and I have been stamping and making cards for 16-18 years and boy have they come a long way in that time. I based my layout on this weeks MojoMonday #249 and used Natalies embossing folder and car stamp. Thanks for taking a peek ... not sure when I'll be back

Our Creative Corner - Fancy Folds 2

Morning happy stampers....I just love making cards using different formats...so thanks OCC for this challenge what a coincidence as I was already making this card for my mums birthday - she'll be 81 on 11/11/11 - Happy Birthday Mum. I had started making another card which I'll finish today and post but ended up thinking it was a bit modern and I wanted something more pretty, feminine for mum. And I must thank Becca from Amazing Paper Grace for her tutorial for this pocket card http://www.amazingpapergrace.com/becca-bit-putting-together-pocket-card/  and of course her directions for bow making.

Thanks for taking a peek  ...
And here's the first card I was putting together....

I love this construction card too - I suppose you would call it a pull tag easel card...... :)   I must say I did have this card made but couldn't resist posting it on my blog...I have a plan to make another incorporating this weeks MojoMonday design.
