Happy Birthday

When I saw Shirley's Kookaburra card on Friday I just knew I had to join in the 5th Birthday celebrations at Stamplorations  CASE the STAMPgirls.  I love kookas and lucky to have this stamp and Shirley's colours and background inspired me.   I used two different stencils on my background panel -- sponged Versamark through the stencils and use clear embossing powder and heat set it.  Then I spritzed with Magical Micas Mists in two browns and blue and dried that off before touching up the blank spaces with sponged Distress Inks.  I stamped my Kooka, fussy cut him and water coloured him with DI. Lastly I stamped my sentiment and on a small strip and sponged the edge, along with the edge of the panel.  I am also playing along at Southern Girls June challenge - Team Lou - Anything Goes.   Thanks for visiting and enjoy your weekend.

Lighthouse Tag

Today I've been messing about with the good old wax paper technique.... I used photographic card for my glossy card and it works real well.  Then I added Distress Oxides to see how they'd take to the gloss card - swiping it on doesn't blend very well so I smooched with the ink on a baby wipe, and used a stitched tag die to cut my shape.  Then I stamped the bottom half of my lighthouse stamp and then masked out the lighthouse and yacht and stamped the seagulls at the top.  Next I stamped the lighthouse and yacht on white card and coloured these with pencil and fussy cut them out and attached them to my tag.  To finish I used white gel pen to colour the seagulls.  I am playing along at Rubber Dance June challenge - basically using the colour palette and the tag option.  Also using my tag for the Simon Says Monday challenge - Anything but a card, and Southern Girls Challenge Team Lou - Anything Goes.     Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day.

Faith, Trust and Fairy Dust

Some playing around with flower stamps from different sets today combined with Distress Oxide ink... in Yellow, Pink and Green.  First I wet the water colour card with dilute salt solution and then added spots of pink DO... they spread in a flower shape (saw someone on YouTube doing this with acrylic paint - worked lots better, but I did get some effect). then while the card was still wet I stamped on various other flowers and some stems, I went over them with the same ink when the panel was dry and added black snowflake centers to the yellow ones and white gel pen the the pinks.   Earlier I had stamped my fairym, coloured and fussy cut her minus the wings and also stamped her wings on acetate and cut them out.. added Kindyglitz.  I positioned my fairy in her garden and stamped on my sentiments and some starry fairy dust.  I  am playing along with the colour palette at Rubber Dance April Colour challenge, Shopping Our Stash SOS#351- Mythical Magical theme, and also Southern Girls challenge - Triple 'F' Team Lou challenge; Fairies, Fantasy or Flowers.  Thanks for visiting and enjoy your weekend

Happy Birthday

My birthday card today is floral - of course, because flowers are just my favourite.... I stamped this image twice on the weekend, so it was just waiting there for me to match it up with the background panel I had made too. ... Inked up my embossing folder with coral Distress Oxide and this one is the second print from what was left after I'd run it through the Cuttlebug once...I used a brayer to transfer the ink.  Then I watercoloured my flowers with Distress Oxides.... in some of my favourite colours... coral, blue and green.... I don't really have favourites just so long as they are pretty, colourful and make me feel happy. Then I fussy cut my image, stamped my sentiment and framed it in matching blue card and arranged it all on coral card and a white card base.  I used foam tape to lift the flowers and sentiment.  I am playing along with Southern Girls challenge - Team Trace - Favourite Colour Combo and also with Addicted to Stamps and More challenge #287- Make your Mark.  Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day

Joy in Life

Whoopie, made my HM card this challenge in the first week not at the very last minute. I stamped my image with brown ink and used coloured pencils to colour it....that's the easy bit.  I eventually decided to go with a pale pink layer and that grew into a lattice frame... with a bit of wangling I managed to enlarge the frame by part die cutting it and moving the die so it fit with the lattice, turning it around and through the machine half way again, the fit was just perfect for my cut down image panel.  Then I stamped my sentiment in Pearl Gold EP and die cut with a label die and threaded some ribbon through the holes.  I die cut some leaves and arranged a paper flower and buds with a bow in the corner.  I am playing along at House Mouse and Friends challenge HMFMC #22 - Optional theme Ribbons or Bows. And also Southern Girls Challenge - Team Lou - Diecuts.  Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day

May Your Day Sparkle..

This card has certainly met the inspiration from Shopping Our Stash challenge SOS#344 - National Dress Day.... I've really dug into my stash and out with an old 'dress' stamp for my image - it's so old I was a bit worried I wouldn't get an image with the rubber hardening up, but it worked and I gave it a lovely lift with some water colouring and micro beads - from my stash. I die cut my stamped panel with a cutout scallop die and used pinky mauve card to frame it, onto a purple background and white card. To finish I stamped my sentiment and die cut it, sponged the edges and used foam tape to attach it.  Then I found these gorgeous shiny satin flowers I have been hoarding for a looong time and used foam tape to arrange them.  I am playing along at Just Add Ink #399 - Just Add Water - I water coloured using Distress Ink, and also to Southern Girls Challenge - Pop It Up - popped up my sentiment and flowers.

Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day

Another year flies by...

I have a 'nature' card today and some of my favourite flowers...waterlilies, but I was prompted to use my frog stamp as well because so thankfully it's been raining here and the frogs are in full voice - I love it.  I stamped and embossed these lily leaves some time ago so water coloured them with Distress Oxides, created a pond and sponged some sky.  Then stamped, water coloured my frog and fussy cut him out.... he came with a set including the tiny fly and sentiment which suits fabulously.  I popped my frog up with some foam tape also my sentiment die cut as a speech bubble.

Flowers feed the Soul

Well here's a little something very different from me today - no colouring  ....instead some paper piecing and use of papers from my huge stash of patterned papers.  Very challenging and fun.
I stamped my peony flower a three times for each one on different papers and fussy cut them, then glued them in place. I also stamped and cut their stems and leave.  I used patterned paper for the background... flowers for a garden and green for the bed.  Then to finish I stamped the sentiment and die cut it with a stitched rectangle and sponged the edge.

Thank You

I'm on a roll today, my mojo is feeling good!!  I have a thank you card for a new challenge group I discovered via a friendly follower - Margaret...and as I'm an Aussie it's wonderful to join in with them. The Southern Girls challenge this fortnight is - Round and Round the Mulberry Bush - include circle embellishments... So I have a pink circle die cut to highlight my Distress Oxide watercoloured image and also a few scattered 'round' sequins. My sentiment is a shadowed die cut.

.Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day
