Braver, stronger, smarter

WHW #018–Creating Frames with IBS Nestie Dies

Hi there today from blustery Yeppoon, had rain over night so it's a bit fresh today with the wind.
I've made a card today using the Whoo Hoo Wednesday WHW#018 technique and created a frame for my verse for the Crazy4Challenges  C4C-193.  I nstamped a few grasses along the base of a background I created with my DistressInks and Perfect Pearl Mist and then layered two die cut frames around my verse.  Thanks for taking a peek and happy Wednesday

What's On Your Workbench, Wednesday? #214

Morning and happy hump day and here's a pic of my desk for WOYWW, If you're wondering about this blog post check out Julia at Stamping Ground to learn more. Today I'm working on a card using a technique shared by Joanna at Inspired by Stamping but I'm really just putting off the fact that hubby has been dropping BIG hints about me sorting out our tax papers (seeing as I'm not working and I should have plenty of time), so I'd best get it finished and posted and at least start on the tax stuff - yuk!!!!!  Happy crafting and thanks for taking a peek

Friends are Angels

COLORS FROM THE PHOTO AND INCLUDE FLOWERS, RIBBON AND NEWSPRINT!

Back at my desk this fine Monday morning to post this card I had mostly completed on Saturday - the layout is for the Freshly Made Sketches #93 challenge, the colours are for The Shabby Tea Room #173 - Glorious Flowers challenge which I missed posting to - so am also inspired to post it on the Inkspirational #27 colour challenge and the the lovely butterfly inspiration from CASE Study #148.  I very happy with how it turned out with soft colours - it's amazing the shades of mauve ink I have (must be a favourtie colour) and also when you look how many butterfly stamps I have.
Thanks for taking a peek and have a super creative week.

Just Saying Hello

Well it's turning out to be a creative Saturday...skyping with friend Vikki we've made quite a few cards and I'm always getting encouragement and ideas from her even though we're 720kms apart....thank you Vikki.
Here's my card using the layout at CAS(E) this Sketch #35 and the interesting colour combination at Play Date Cafe #189 - I like these colours    Burgundy ... Terra Cotta ...Icy Blue.
I find it a real challenge to do less on the card I'm usually a bit more complicated than this one.

Butterfly Birthday

US_Sketch217

Hi there again from sunny Yeppoon where it's a lovely 23C - my second card is based on the layout from Unscripted Sketches #217 and the colours that Vikki and I chose some time back from the Design Seeds page.  I'm quite happy with my card and hope you're having a super weekend too.  Thanks for taking a peek

Male Birthday Card

Crazy 4 Challenges C4C192

Hexagons (or something similarly shaped)!

A simple card for starters from my desk today....I have a few male birthdays coming up so need to add to my stash.  The challenge at Crazy 4 Challenges C4C192 as for 'Hexagons' so my embossed background is about the only hexagon thing I have and the shape I tried to cut myself went in the bin. It's quite plain but very blokey.... :-)    Thanks for taking a peek

Curly Happy Birthday

I love this technique and haven't had my chalks (soft pastels) out for ages, so I just had to make a card
...well actually I made two

My first blue card is also for The Paper Players challenge and I've chose the top line across:
Birds, Blue and Birthday.
I used the Versamark ink and chalk to do the bird cage, the sentiment and the bird - he wasn't facing the right way so I stamped him on the Mirror Block and then on the card, he came out less defined but still cute.
On my second card with the flower I chalked the card and then stamped the swirls and chalked them in two shades.

What's On Your Workbench Wednesday

Hi there on this fine Wednesday....well it has been - windy and much cooler now the sun has set.
Anyway today at my desk photo for WOYWW I'm busy making notelet cards for my carry bags as 'give aways' to my mum for her trading tables. I started making the notelets last week and today finished the first set (purple bag and 6 rose cards) and got busy making another set for the yellow daffodil bag ... I have pegs on them as I have to send them off to mum in Victoria and need them to be flat - she's had a lesson on the final assembly.

I'm taken with the white embossing thing at the moment and colouring them in with my Twinkling H2Os, - I find it relaxing doing the colouring.
Must be off now, hubby is home and tea is still only a thought!!

Shopping Our Stash 107: Use Your Oldest Embellishment

One of my upcoming birthdays is for my Father-in-law who will be 89 so this morning I've made this male birthday card with him in mind.  I've used the layout at CAS(E) this sketch CTS#34 and the colours for Dynamic Duos DD#59 - Gray and my colour of choice is Blue/Green of the Paua Shell  and Shopping Our Stash 107 are wanting us to dig into our drawers for that embellishment you've had for years --- I've selected just a small piece of New Zealand Paua Shell that a stamping friend shared with our group many years ago (I still have a little bag of lovely shiny bits of the shell).
