Our Beautiful World

Our Beautiful World - Week 51, theme is ...by the Seashore
Lucky for us we live on the coast - Central East Coast of Australia in a region of Queensland - Capricornia due to the fact that the Tropic of Capricorn passes through the area. For us the weather is perfect and we often take morning walks on the beach....as do many others..this group of retirees walk their dogs every day. Above hubby Stephen and friend Janice.
I usually always take my camera as you get some stunning sunrises and some extraordinary weather

And of course you may see all sorts of sea creatures....

I do enjoy the peace and serenity of a walk on the beach....the fresh air, the sunshine and the sea breeze/winds - it's an invigorating and wonderful way to start the day

Thanks for taking a peek and please pop over to the Blog page of Our Beautiful World to see the fabulous photos taken by our other team members, we'd love for you to join in sharing your photos and to  leave a comment or two on the posts you read.  Cheers and have a wonderful week. Robyn

Sending You Sunshine, Laughter and Hugs

This morning I noticed that Inspired by Stamping challenge #82 closed in a couple of hours and I really do like playing along with their inspirational photos.  This one has lovely soft colours and sadly my photo has made the pink and blue shells much brighter than they are...
I have had these shell stamps for many years and I'm glad that they've come out of hiding - just layered them on some gathered gauze and sprinkled on a few seed pearls. The sentiment is from the IBS Everyday Greetings set.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Celebrate in Style

For Our RobVikVik June challenge the ladies have selected
Vikki W... colour photo inspiration
Robyn ... sketch
Vikki R ... to include a dress on the card.
I started out late yesterday on this card and then discarded the stamped image I was attempting to  colour.  Then decided on this vintage lady stamp I recently acquired attached to a magazine - she stamped up lovely on the blue card and then I mounted her on an embossed background that I lightly tinted with blue ink and attached a fancy label with sentiment from the same stamp set and finished off the card with a feather and button. Just a Note

The theme "it's for the birds" at City Crafters...week 215, inspired my  card this afternoon.  Isn't he just gorgeous in the inspirational photo. For this card I've used a number of different elements; embossed and inked background, I fussy cut the top bird from designer paper, punched, layered and coloured my bottom bird. Then used a new label stamp and die to create the tag which is stamped on a music page from a old song book I picked up for 50 cents in the recycle shop. I fussy cut the stamped sentiment and wrapped a couple of strands of narrow ribbon around the card.... a way different card from me.

Merry and Bright

I am sooo happy with my Christmas card this morning for the Merry Monday #112, feature a Santa hat challenge.  I have this large santa stamp for years and I have had lots of trouble trying to get a nice print from it...tried all sorts of inks today (see second pic) and finally I tried my brayer with Adirondack die ink (currant)...wow I was soooo pleased with the result - so I've stamped it on a lovely vintage background paper and welllaaa!! -  and there's another card to add to my Christmas stash. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Thinking of You ... 2

Hello to all my visitors on this gorgeous Friday and finally I have made a card - it's been 2 weeks .
Never-Before-Used-Schtuff (Stamps, Dies, EFs, etc.)
I definitely wanted to play along at House of Cards and their End of Term Blog Hop...please click to their blog site and play along. I love the inspirational photo; the rustic kind of feel and of course I love flowers. I created the basket with a embossing folder, die cut the daisies, made and painted my chair with balsa wood and mounted my sentiment on cork...the balsa wood and cork are my 'never before used schtuff' for Darnells challenge #1 Anything Goes- who is encouraging one to use up 'schtuff' we have stashed away and forgotten about. I know my pile of paper and cards stock is huge and I have many 'bits' I've bought to use and then put aside...like my cork. I started a few years back with a New Years Resolution to 'stop saving bits for a special occasion card'... get on and use it now.
Hope you've had a great week and looking forward to a special weekend, Thanks for taking a  Robyn
PS My card was a hit...I love it too Top Winner

My Lawn and Garden

This is my back yard about four weeks ago...totally overgrown with meter high weeds...
Then I started the weeding process....I don't believe in weed killer and beside you still have to remove all the dead weeds later, so up they have roots and all. Click on the photos for a larger view any time.
So I cleared one thirdish 3 weeks ago
Then last Monday 2nd June I started on the rest.

My son, Ryan borrowed the work tray truck and helped me pick up 50 sq meters Monday night - that's about a tonne. We unloaded it Monday night and I layed it Tuesday and then got back to the weeding...which took me till Friday to finish.

Then hubby, Stephen arrived back from work, we had one enormous heavy trailer load of weeds for the dump, and I'm so grateful Stephen was there to help at the end and I was pretty "buggered"

So early Saturday morning they picked up another 85 sq meters and Stephen and I layed the rest.....before he went off to play golf.
It looks spectacular...if I may say so... I left gaps in the laying to save money and this turf is buffalo grass which spreads really well so in no time it'll be all over GREEN.

Our garden is a tropical one as we live in Queensland, northern Australia so you have to grow plants with varied leaf shapes and colours.
We have two huge mango trees and  banana trees

Hibiscus are a favourite of mine

I gather all sorts of plants to give colour to the gardenI miss my garden in Townsville a lot but know that one day I'll be living back there and be able to enjoy it and tinker whenever I have the urge....till then I'm adding to my collection in pots. Cheers and I hope you enjoyed visiting my garden. Robyn
