Happy Birthday

A birthday card using a traditional Christmas Poinsettia flower - well that was a bit tricky as I kept wanting to make this a gorgeous red poinsettia.  The image is stamped in red ink and embossed with pearl white embossing powder giving it a lovely soft outline. Then I used distress inks to water colour the flower in autumn (orange) shades, with a touch of red and green...so I can post this to Seize the Birthday challenge with the Topping: Monochromatic Orange. Also posting to Shopping Our Stash #177 - use a holiday stamp set to make a non-holiday card

Today I've put together this fun tag card, using some pre-printed kraft paper as the  background - layered on red and dark brown card.  I cut the tag from embossed whtie card and tied on a glitzy ribbon.  I marker coloured this cute elf from my pre-stamped images (he's actually very old, but he still came up cheerful) and finished with a cute sentiment. I'm posting my card to The Card Concept 23, Krafty Christmas and Always Playing with Paper challenge #18 colour palette.

Our Beautiful World

This week the word prompt at Our Beautiful World has bee suggested by Ros......SPORT

Now being an Aussie and living in sunny Queensland, of course there are plenty of outdoor activities. These photos were taken last year on the Yeppoon beach where I used to walk in the mornings.  This was a rare afternoon walk and I caught this guy having a wonderful time on his windsurfing cart.

 

 

Of course Aussie are renowned for their sports...as spectators  too.

Here's my hubby - do you think he's comfy enough ..... watching the Cricket on TV. He does actually get out as he plays golf, but you can hear him cheering or cursing the umpires when they're not fair to his team, from his chair.

Wishing You a Happy Christmas tag

My last effort for today is a Festive Tag for the CASology challenge and I've used the colour photo at Fusion Card Challenge as my palette. I inked and stamped off this Christmas tree twice and then a third time to get a graduation in colour, then I added a stamped sentiment and a few gems. I had made the back tag previously as a sample tryout for stamping and embossing in white and watercolouring in Ombre effect for the Fusion challenge, so it suited nicely to attach to my top tag with some threads like CASology DT member Meghan suggested.

Along with the girls at CASology I am inspired by Traceys 25 Days of Christmas Tags, where she is featuring guest artists to inspire her with their tag creations.

Merry Christmas

I like to join in with The Cutting Edge Challenges (#14) and Monday Challenge at Simon Says- Ornaments.

 I have now got quite a few dies and I want to really use them - funny how these new detailed dies are more popular than the basic shapes of the Spellbinders we started with...got to use them more too.

So I was inspired by this months inspirational photo to make this card using a die cut ornament randomly cut on a piece of white card stock, then I  covered the cutout holes with three shades of metallic paper - pale line green, dusty coral, and lavender and then carefully glued the cutout detail back in place. I layered the card on cream card, stamped a sentiment and finished the card with some matching pearls.

 Simon Says Challenge: Ornaments

 "ALL Things Metallic" ... well in the end this card ended up as ALL metallic.

I've made my card for Virginia's View challenge #9 and Merry Monday #134 and Inkspirational with a work prompt - Shine.

It seems I just couldn't get away from an ornament for the Metallic theme and of course I can always do with another Christmas card.  I stamped this Chocolate Baroque bauble in weathered wood distress ink and then water colored it with Twinkling H2Os (metallic lustre). Then to help the snowflake standout more I went over it with silver gelly roll pen. Then I die cut a snowflake in silver paper and it just so happened to match perfectly with the stamped image - spruced it up with so glitter glue and a few blue gems and splattered a few blue water spots over the empty white space.  Then I layered the white card on soft metallic grey and dark navy metallic card stock and onto a white card base. I finished the card with a simple Kaisercraft sentiment and a grey metallic satin bow.  (The top photo is truer to the colour, but a bit dark)....ALL Metallic, and Grey/Silver, Blue and an Ornament for Merry Monday and shiny for Inkspirational.

Friday Smiles

Afternoon "smiley" friends, it's a bit warm here right now and I'm rushing to post this as I have to pick hubby up at the airport in half hour.  It's been a quiet week for me but productive - made a few lovely floral cards and then got out the sewing machine as daughter and I bought some Christmas material to make gorgeous Sophie a couple of dresses.  

 A little purple wrap dress and lucky to get some matching pants.

And then I found this cute singlet and bought some red lace and tulle to gather onto it.

Funny thing happened though - when Jacalyn and I shopped we got a teddy bear Christmas print and plain red with stars to make a dress (making that one next), anyway when I went to the local Lincraft for the red lace I just thought I might grab some more fabric so she'd have a couple of outfits for day care. Well I did get some - they didn't have really much to choose from and when I got home I'd bought exactly the same fabric as previous - might have to save some for next year.

Last week Elizabeth left me a hilarious comment - " I got a bit concerned when you said your "pot plants" were doing nicely. Here in the States, that would land you in jail (grin)."  

So here I am with a few pics of my "Pot Plant Garden"

We rent at present but as we often visit our kids and our home in Townsville I'm always gardening there and so bring back cuttings just incase our son kills all my plants.

Just for You

I've made this special card this morning with my new Power Poppy stamps....I just love them, the detail and design are wonderful... just me!!

So I also decided to use the Resistible Embossing technique Julie demonstrated last week.  Not at all difficult and I can remember doing this many years ago - stamped the Countryside Bouquet with Versamark and embossed with clear EP. Then I colour the image with distress ink and wet paint brush and flicked a few splashes of pale blue.  Then when it was dry I ironed off the embossing and welllaa!! a lovely effect.  I just layered the card on blue and finished off with a Chocolate Baroque sentiment and little bow.  I'm posting to the Power Poppy blog Peep of the Week.

What's On Your Workdesk, Wednesday?

It's WOYWW time  (number #284), where Julia hosts an event where many crafters share pics of their work areas, if you'd like to know more -visit her blog to read all about it.

My first pic today shows my main work space - I'm just trying to decide on the final bits to the card on my pad (see the third pic).  The area is a bit tidy but the second pic shows you all the mess is off to the side. Lots to put away. I had to use the flash today as I have the venetian blinds nearly down as the sun is pouring in and its hot and I've the overhead fan blasting away. Louie bear is still keeping track of my eraser and the pile of 'oh I might have a go at that' on the very right.

Here you can see a pile of stamps needing cleaning and putting away.  A new card there from friend Vikki came in the mail today along with our first Christmas card...dear elderly reles in Scotland are always a month ahead but at least we know she thinking of us.  Water jars needing emptying, a new tin of distress markers I picked up really cheap.....they're in neat piles at least. Australian War Memorial, as we remember those who gave everything for their countries, Lest We Forget...the wall lists all those Aussie who lost theirs lives and red poppies from loved ones who have visited.

Sending Hugs Your Way

For this month's card for the Card Chain Challenge that Deborah hosts at Society of Stampoholics, I have followed the sketch and then as I've used a Chocolate Baroque stamp - Honeysuckle, I will post for their monthly challenge #4 too using their colour palette.  I partially stamped and coloured the image on white card, centered my die and use it to embossed a circle around the image and used the same die to cut a circle from a strip of reddish paper. Then used the next die up to cut the circle in the light gold card and layered them all over the image. Finished off the card with a raised sentiment and a few leaves stamped and finely cut.  If you'd like to join in the card swap there is still time to register...here Thanks for taking a peek Robyn
