Hello best friend

My card for this months Virginia's View Challenge #11.
This is probably one of the "whitest" cards I've made....but I'm loving it.
Virginia asked for a 'clean slate' - lots of white and one layer. I'd been rummaging in my drawer of backgrounds I'd made years ago with my brayer and Kaleidacolour multi colour die inkpads and this one (still lovely and bright) caught my eye. I simply die cut 'hello' and raised it over a slash of black ink (through a stencil I hand cut in paper). Then stamped the sentiment and decided to used to leftovers from the die cut and a black gem to finish the card.
I think there maybe a few more along this line, thanks for taking a peek

Friday Smiles

Share a smile...Are you smiling this week? Has something given you pleasure? Are you thankful? of Did you have a good old laugh?  Why not join in and share your SMILES with us at Annies blog - Friday Smiles.
Here's my smile for the week.....we arrived home Monday after 4 weeks with our children and families over the Christmas New Year break.  Had a wonderful time with them but as always it's good to be home.  Our kind neighbour collected our mail....yes lots of Christmas cards and letter from dear family and friends across the globe.  So I spent a lovely few hours opening and reading their news....lots of smiling I can assure you.

This is the sky this afternoon, we are having our dose of humidity and that great dark cloud is moving right on over us, so with the sun (you can see on the left) shining madly we're feeling hot and heavy with the damp heat....please, please, please rain!!!
Hope you've had a great week and have some special plans for the weekend, Cheers Robyn

Tims Tags 2015

Today I have been working on my first Tims 12  Tags of 2015 and I've varied it a little bit because this year I've asked a few of my stamping friends here in Australia if they'd like to play along with an ABC Tag and Cards project....to make a tag or card incorporating the letters of the alphabet. This is our first so the letter 'A' is my theme.  I've used Tims recipe for his tag but change the colour to 'amethyst' and the theme 'art'

Best Wishes

So today I have finally finished this card that's been part made for weeks. I have been playing with my stencils and found this two part feather one excellent - great effect with two shades; I just used distress inks with a damp sponge, then water washed blue for the background.  I played around with two colours of die cut for the sentiment and then found that both together gave a great shadow effect. Challenge #275 at Just Us Girls calls for you to use stencils so I'm posting to their challenge.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Friends are Treasures

A bright fresh "Friends" card from me this morning using the layout at CAS - Colours and Sketches #106.  A lovely simple layout, so when I chose the stamped sentiment the heart theme fell into place and I embossed the back panel with tiny heart folder and die cut a heart from my stash of shaving cream coloured card, the tiny bit of orange prompted me to use the bright glittery flag behind it.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

What's On Your Workdesk, Wednesday?

..in my opinion!Mid week again, and so we play WOYWW (#293) - off to travel the globe and visit the homes and desks of many talented crafty people....thanks to our host Julia who has all the details on her blog here.
My fist pic is of my desk looking mighty nice, just waiting for my return from 4 weeks away visiting our family. So glad I tidied before we left - fresh desk for a new year of fun.
And here it is this afternoon as I completed my first card (here).  My soft roller there on the right on the clear plastic packing I use as a palette when I'm playing with distress inks. Large jar of ribbon spools and the brushes, stamps and clear stamp blocks all scattered across the desk. In the middle back there is another card I've pieced together just waiting for me to decide if needs any tweeking.
I'm off now to post and visit some desks,  thanks to all you kind friends who dropped in last week and left comments. Cheers and have a wonderful week Robyn

Happy Birthday to You

Hi there this fine Wednesday, so glad to be home and at my desk after 4 weeks away...but the mojo is in slow-mo. It's taken me all day to make this card, swapping about with backgrounds etc. I have based the layout on the Try Stamping on Tuesdays sketch #201, and have used my Bloom sketches STAMPlorations poppy stamp so will post also to their Anything Goes challenge. I stamped the image in Distress Ink and then when it was dry added some water to the base of the flower and touch it with Peacock Feather DI. Then add a layer to the panel and mounted that onto a background panel. Finished off with a tiny sentiment and button.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Our Beautiful World

Good afternoon and welcome to this week #79 at Our Beautiful World.
Manuela has offered "WINTERY" as this weeks inspiration.
Now that is not an easy thing for me to photograph when I have lived in a tropical climate for the past 22 years. I had to looked hard to find these two photos which I took during our holiday in Scotland 2010.
This pic was taken one morning of the feathery ice on the car windscreen when the temp was 3.6C.
And here - what a lovely serene pic of a light layer of snow on the fallen branches.
Our 'rainy' season isn't cold but we get some incredible storms. My son took this panoramic photo of the storm following Cyclone Yasi in 2011

Please visit the other team members to see their gorgeous photos for this week. And if you have any photos you'd like to share - please join in and post to Our Beautiful World blog.

Thanks for visiting, have an enjoyable week

Friday Smiles

Share a smile...Hello this fine Sunday afternoon.....I know I'm a little late posting to Friday Smiles #101 but Annie doesn't mind at all.  I'm sharing a photo my friend took of some lounge chairs that I recovered for her on Friday/Saturday,

even had enough fabric to run up a couple of cushions.  Bit of a difference hey!! and Vikki is smiling heaps.

Here's our gorgeous grand daughter with her dolly Claire - she's so cute giving her hugs and kisses and wearing one of Sophies T-shirts. We're going home tomorrow so will really miss our visits, she makes me smile every time I see her

Arthur found this Christmas bag while I was packing gear yesterday, nice place for a nap.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend, pop over to Annies blog to find other smiley Friday pics. Cheers Robyn
