Joy to the World

 I've used a new die today for my CAS Christmas card....playing along with AAA Cards CAS Game #144 - Maxi White Space + Christmas in July... also with Watercooler Wednesday WWC229 - Helen's All About Occasions challenge.   I  die cut the candles in white card, from my stash I found this cool background made years ago with Marvy Metallic Markers and die cut a circle to fit behind.  I removed the inner parts of the candle and coloured them with Twinkling H2Os, also the flames and added some glitter gel to them. To finish I stamped and gold embossed my sentiment to the front of a white card and attached the image. Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate it - happy card making.

 

Two Cards Featuring Gardens

This month I am thrilled to be Guest Designer for Twofer Card Challenge #18. 

Thank you Darnell for hosting this terrific challenge, I love joining in each month and why not make two cards while you have the stamps out.  So I'm challenging you to 'have a go' as an Aussie would say and join in too, with this months theme - GARDEN.....and isn't that open for lots of interpretation....

So I've chosen a TROPICAL GARDEN as we live in tropical north Queensland

and my cards represent the lush greens and colours in my garden, that's one of my Hibiscus flowers in my blog header. 

My Twofer stamp is the Hibiscus flower.... and on my first card I stamped the image five times, coloured the flowers with watercolour pencils and fussy cut them out.  I also stamped some greenery and fussy cut them and also a tiny sparkly butterfly - iridescent blue like those we have here.
Next I die cut a stitched circle from a white panel and positioned a blues smooched background behind it and then attached these to a blue card.  To finish I arranged my flowers and stamped my sentiment on a scrap of smooched card and attached these with foam tape.

With my second card I randomly stamped and masked two different leaves and my Hibiscus flower on white card and also coloured the images with watercolour pencils. Then I lightly penciled in the blue background, added black card to give a fine frame onto a teal greencard. To finish I stamped my sentiment and used a circle die to cut around it and then a larger black circle and attached this with foam tape.

I am also playing along with the challenge at Double 'D' - Tropical.

Not a very productive weekend at my desk - the annual Super Car Races were in Townsville and part of the street track passes our back fence --- sooo it was very noise, but I did manage to finish one card and make this one for the Watercooler Wednesday WWC228 - Marsha's Feminine "Anything Goes" challenge, Penny Black Saturday challenge PBSC July - Anything Goes,  and I'll also post to Stamplorations Theme & Sketch Summer challenge - Stamps and Anything Goes.

I stamped my tulip image twice..once with Weathered Wood DI and then again with Candied Apple and Forest Moss - to create a sort of shadow.  I did this on a stitched die cut panel not knowing if it would work out and being happy I repositioned the die and cut the panel down - left me with a nice strip to use for my stamped sentiment.  To finish I tied gold cord around the bottom and used foam sheet to mount the panels (this also helped to accommodate the cord) onto a square red card.

Sending You a Smile

Oh I have had some fun with Alcohol Inks on Metallic card and the Alcohol Lift technique....see here
.... and as there were different coloured Metallic card in the pack I chose pink for this card and used red and blue AIs.... I liked that the two mixed and I got some purple.  Then I used a floral stencil and a wadded dry baby wipe with a drop or two of blending solution to dab away the ink, revealing the pink underneath...don't dab too much or you'll take the pink and leave silver.
I trimmed the panel and attached it to a white card along with a white strip with my stamped sentiment.  To finish I added a die cut floral from the same pink metallic card..
It's very shiny and card to photograph!!!

CAS Stencil July challenge

  CAS Stencil July challenge 
we have Cathy hosting this month asking us to create with
Alcohol Inks and/or Alcohol Lift with our Stencils

Firstly Alcohol Inks are very messy and can stain (I still have rings of red and green around my nails) and you need to work in a ventilated area - BUT that's all - they are really fun and can create their own magic.  I don't have Yupo paper, but I'll resort to trying anything with a shiny surface - backs off old cards, packaging and for ages I've been using photographic paper but find this doesn't work too well with my Alcohol Blending solution to lift the colour (I think maybe because it still absorbs to AI quickly).... so I wondered how AIs would work with shiny metallic card.

And this is the result using silver metallic card and two different brands of blue AI - I loved it - it's really really shiny (and so hard to photograph because it reflects) ..... Anyway I thought it looked like a night sky and not being sure how well the blending solution would remove the ink I decided to use a 'spotty' stencil to remove just little areas so they would look like Stars!!   I added a few drops of blending solution to a wadded dry baby wipe and dabbed away the blue ink to reveal the silver card.
To finish I just trimmed  the panel and mounted with foam sheet to a white card... then added my die cut sentiment frame - I  cut a second 'joy' in silver card, attached that to the frame and lastly added small die cut star.

I definitely got adventurous and made this card using gold metallic card with yellow and red Alcohol Inks and a larger spotty stencil, using blending solution with a wadded baby wipe. Then die cut a stitched circle in a white panel and attached my AI behind this onto a white card.  To finish I added gold metallic die cut sentiment and three small die cut 'trees'.

This is my card I sent to Greta in USA for the June Card Chain Challenge swap... I used the colour theme, and feathers and friendship as my inspiration from the card.  Stamped, colored and die cut my bird and branch.  Then using a square card, die cut a window and then an overlay in bright yellow.  Lastly I stamped my sentiment on the inside so it would appear in the window.  Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate it  - happy card making

I stamped and white embossed my bouquet of flowers and used Distress Inks to watercolour the image, then the background.  I die cut a stitched frame and layered the elements onto a bright cheerful yellow card.  To finish I added a stamped sentiment with foam tape.  Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate it - happy card making.

Party!!! Tag

A 'spinner' tag from me today for the TAG You're It!! challenge #90 - Interactive tags.  Resurrected this 'Party Girl'  from my stash, coloured her up with some glittery gel pens and used some smooched background to die cut a stitched tag, then the ovals from the center - backed the spinner oval with glittery silver card so she will sparkle when she dances.  Attached all the elements to make the spinner tag and finished off with ribbons and a stamped sentiment.  Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate it - happy tag making
