Whats On Your Workdesk, Wednesday?

Hi there visitors from sunny Yeppoon this beautiful Wednesday....and what's on my work desk today...if you're new and wondering about this WOYWW then click here  and Julia will explain.
So as you'll see my desk is sooooo clean - I have been at my desk a couple of times this week - made a few more Christmas cards (on the rights side with my stack of stamps I've cleaned but ready for more use) and on the left two sheets of embossed paper that I was experimenting with sand paper - really like the effect and made a purple card for a friends birthday. Second pic is to show how I store my inks - nice and handy; they're in frozen pastry keepers by Decor, one for each - distress, pigment, chalks.
Now for the rest of the week I've been busy making a big mess in the living area with my sewing machine set up on the dining table from last week.  I'm making a rainbow quilt using the Bargello technique - my first one ever but I've had these pieces of material for a very long time and so I got started.

First cut the strips.                          Second stitch them up

Third cut them again and rearrange                                Four sew again into one piece, just got to wait for some daughter input on the border colours.
These are the two pieces of the quilt I was working on last week. First one I'm still blanket stitching the butterflies on, second the butterflies are padded - PS this is a store bought panel
My desk and room is really tidy today because both our kids are coming for a visit this weekend as it's Ryan,s 26th birthday. Hopefully I'll get one of the quilts finished so Jacalyn can take it home for the nursery.  Thanks for taking a peek and hope you're having a great week too.Robyn xx

  1. Oh Robyn, you put me to shame - how productive your week has been. Loving the bargello quilt..especially that thing where one day you get up and it's just the day to do it. Love that!

  3. What a lovely neat and tidy work area you have. I also use many Decor boxes for storage. And I love that Bargello pattern. Wish I had the patience to do that :)
Thanks for stopping and I don't get any exercise walking to the kitchen ... I'm already there!
Nice to come across another Australian WOYWWer too!

  7. I was admiring your lovely tidy desk until I saw those quilts, wow they are stunning, so wish I could do that. I did have a go at quilting, but it took me sooooooo long to do the smallest thing I gave it up, my sewing machine wasn't really suitable either.
I just love those quilts, I think the butterfly one is my favourite, though I do love anything in brights.

  10. Lovely tidy desks Robyn, looks like you've been having lots of fun too. The quilts are beautiful, wonderfully done. Older cars are a passion of ours, we have another one too, a Triumph GT6, they're so nostalgic, and with a bit of tlc, they're great fun to drive. Have a wonderful weekend with your grown up kiddies!

  14. TY for popping by my desk. I couldn't get your WOYWW Mr. Linky to work, but I still found my way here. Glad I did. Your quilts are gorgeous!!! My mom is a talented quilter, she would really enjoy yours. I don't have a great relationship with my sewing machine. It's a bummer really. The one with the butterflies would look beautiful on my bed… JK. It would look great in a nursery. You are truly gifted with the sewing machine. Happy Hump day!!! (((HUGS)))

  22. awesome desk and beautiful projects. An Indian tribe here in Oklahoma has a piecing process similar to the Bargello that they use in all their ceremonial dress. I can't remember the tribe but some of their dresses and shirts are awesome! Have a great week and thanks for stopping by my desk and commenting. Vickie #36

  27. Those butterfly panels are brilliant! What a beautiful quilt, I love your stitching. It's so funny how many of us spread out on the dining table! I think that sewing is probably the more favorite use of a dining table than dining, so yay us! Thank you for your sweet visit. Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #11

  31. I used the bargello technique on paper, but never on fabric. Yours is fabulous!!

I'm playing catch up after having been offline for nearly three days due to internet woes associated with our recent rain. Just wanted to stop by and thank you for your previous visit.

Happy quite belated WOYWW from #2.
