Happy Birthday to You

How are today??    Keeping busy with some creativeness or maybe a good book, or even some time in the garden.  I re-potted some plants today and then found time to make a card.... and have the makings for another.

First I die cut the coverplate design which I love and then used washi tape to secure it to another white panel and using my blending brushes used the monochrome colours for the Rainbow challenge.
For this card I've used the die cut layer and simply attached it to a white card and then stamped and embossed the sentiment on a matching card strip and mounted it with foam tape.

I am playing along with the Rainbow challenge #16 - Totally Tiffany.

Thinking of You

Anzac Badge | Anzac day, Anzac, Military tattoosIt was certainly a very different ANZAC day here in Australia, but so very special and lvoely to see so many joining in the dawn celebrations from their driveways... Thank you to all the service men and women who serve our country in so many ways both past and present -- this also includes the home servicemen of the police, fire and medical.

The red poppy is an ANZAC memento and today I've made a card featuring these.
I stamped the image a number of times to use as a foreground on the bottom edge ... I used Antique linen Distress Ink and watercoloured the image with DIs as well  ... each stamping I left in place in the Misti so I could over stamp it with a darker ink to capture the details.  Then I gave the background a green water wash and added abstract detail in green and red to represent a poppy field.
I attempted a morning sun-up sky line with a water wash too.
To finish I added a white frame on a green card and a stamped sentiment, which I fussy cut.

Love from All of Us

How are you managing this week with isolation???   Hubby and I have been doing a few jigsaws to fill in time....  have you seen these - WASJIG,  a back to front jigsaw... challenging fun - it's not what you see on the box!!!!

For my card, I stamped and silver embossed the poinsettia spray and watercoloured it with Distress Inks and then fussy cut it out.  I wanted to go with all metallic elements -  so found some red, green and silver for the background layers, and dry embossed the silver square.  I arranged all the elements with foam tape and added in some silver twine and a stamped and silver embossed sentiment.

Just for You

Finally finished my Waterfall card today for this months Butterfly challenge #140 "W"

Firstly I chose this blue butterfly patterned paper to cover the front of my white card. Following the waterfall card directions I made up this element in white card and then used matching card for the flaps.  Then to dress the card I stamped three sentiments and used a fancy label die to cut them so they would fit behind the flaps.  I sponged the edges with the three colour elements.. Wild blue, Wisteria, Wheat...and added matching gems.  I added a strip of gold washi tape to the last sentiment panel and to the bottom of the pull flap, punched a hole and added some blue threads for the pull.  To decorate the front I found this gorgeous die cut butterfly in dull gold card  (gifted from a friend) and added some wisteria gems to finish it.

I managed to use all the elements except the woodgrain.... to my card would be in the Top Prize category.  The photos don't capture the true blue colours or the lovely gold washi tape.

May your life be like a Wildflower....

My card today is made from elements in my stash box...

The alcohol ink background was an experiment I did some time ago using stencils and Nuvo embellishment mousse - I love colours and the creamy mousse worked beautifully with the two different stencils... it has been waiting patiently for me to come up with a design idea.  So I simply trimmed it to fit a square card and then die cut a double stitched panel in white card to frame it and used foam sheet to 'lift' an give dimension.  To finish I added a stamped sentiment on a stitched die cut label.

Take Good Care

I made this card this week and mailed it off to my mum today... she lives in another state and I don't see her very often... we did have plans to visit in November when it's her 90th Birthday, so hopefully things might have settled down by then and we'll be with her to share lots of hugs.

I masked and stamped the camellias a number of times on a stitched rectangle, then used Distress Inks to watercolour them.  I blended grey ink around the bare edges and stamped the sentiment in black.  To help bring out the colours of the flowers I added two strips of card along one side

Baby, it's Cold Outside

Can you imagine you're looking through a window to the chilly scene outside....while you stay warm inside... well that's what I've tried to capture for the song "Baby, It's Cold Outside" sung by Dean Martin.   So today I'm sharing my card for the CAS Christmas April challenge - Christmas Song.

I cut a snow slope and masked off an area with post-it notes on a white panel and using blending brushes added in blue Distress Oxide ink to create the sky and slope.  I lightly spritzed this with water...I love how it adds effect to the sky.  Then I left the slope mask in place and stamped on my tree with green Distress Ink.  Next I used dilute bleach to paint in my snowman and added a few snow flakes as well.  I used markers to add detail to the snowman and grey DI to add shadows to the tree and white gel pen for snow on the branches.
To finish I die cut the stitched frame and used foam tape to 'lift' it from the background, and finally stamped the sentiment and attached it with foam tape too.

Two Cards featuring Umbrellas

The April TWOFER card challenge #26 theme is Rain/Umbrella  ...   I chose an umbrella stamp for my two cards.

For my first card I stamped the umbrella twice to resemble a butterfly and gold embossed using an embossing pen to add the body and then fussy cut it out .... then made another one.  I used Magical Micas to watercolour the top butterfly and Twinkling H2Os for the bottom one - added some white spots to this one with a gel pen.  I used a panel from my stash made with a Twinkling H2O water wash as the background and stamped and gold embossed the sentiment. I moulded  the butterfly wings and attached with foam tape.

For my second card I stamped the umbrella in black on pattered paper  and then on navy card, fussy cut them both and did some paper piecing.  From the patterned paper set I cut two gumboots and then die cut the word Spring from gloss card, smooched it with Distress Oxide and then wiped away the 'oxide' with a damp baby wipe.  I stamped the rest of the sentiment on navy card and white embossed it.  From my background stash I found this smooched Distress Ink watercoloured panel and attached it to a matching layer of pale green and to finish added all the elements.  I drew on the umbrella shaft with a silver pen.

I am also playing along with the Daring Cardmakers challenge - Umbrella.

Spring is in the Air - a Twofer set

Hi and thanks for stopping by my blog today.  Hope all is well for you and that you're managing to fill in your day while we all try to stay at home.  As well as making cards I've been crocheting different squares - it's a group called Moogly CAL 2020 - you can find on the net.

I had so much fun recently using a die cut as a stencil and then creating two cards from this technique.
I firstly die cut this gorgeous die in white card and taped it in place over a white card panel.
Then using post-it notes to mask areas I blended with blending brushes over the 'stencil' with different colours of Distress Oxide Inks.

These photos show Card 1 - which is the stencilled or bottom layer...

This is Card 2 - the coloured stencil ... to finish this one I blended blue ink around the die cut edge.

To finish both cards... I attached to white cards and added stamped and heat embossed sentiment.
I am playing along withe  ....  The Card Concept #133 - Hello Spring - I was inspired by the beautiful and colourful flowers in the photo and I feel they both have a Clean and Graphic style.   ....   The Flower Challenge #43 - Spring/Autumn   ...   AND  ...  Yes Virginia's April Show and Share.

Here are a couple of photos of the process
