What's On Your Workdesk, Wednesday?

A lovely day for mid week here in Yeppoon and for sharing our desks on WOYWW#256 ... wondering what this is all about -please pop over to Julias blog as she is our hostess for this event - that brings together arty, crafty and very talented people from across the world.
Now this is my desk today....
...my laptop there on the right Then at the back my shelves hold on top my buttons and ribbons and flower jars and underneath four folders that hold some stamps. Pens and brushes in the next nook. There's my Ott-Lite and the shelving on the left with my ink trays. On the very left are three very new magazines - with freebie stamps and paper pack - I love the new sets -A4size Oriental/Cherry Blossom and Timeless Opulence and a small set with birds and flowers.
On my large work pad is a mess of orangeish ink....see I've started my ATCs... little pile at the top underway and my Spellbinder Gold Facets that I'm planning to use...no finished card yet but it's happening.
Next is a pic of Arthur..he plays fetch like a dog..throw the foam ear and he plays a bit of soccer then brings it back and drops it at your feet so you can toss it again....he wanted to play first thing this morning when I came into my room.
Next pic...a bit of a chuckle...hubby had to get his script from the chemist and has come home with new shampoo - one line reads
Anti Hair Fall Shampoo. He was a red head and is now a lovely faded golden shade and it is thinning but I didn't realize it was an issue for him. Love him dearly - our 38th wedding anniversary tomorrow.
Well that's enough waffling I'm off to check out some desks, a big thank you to all those who visited last week, cheers and thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Happy Birthday

Hi this fine afternoon and here I am with a birthday card for the Fusion Card challenge -(Colourful Chevron Inspiration) and the Seize the Birthday - Anything Goes.  I've used both the sketch and the Chevron theme for this card...relieved to find this great background piece as I wanted to steer away from bright colours and make a male card. Then just layered up the Birthday sentiment and added three chevrons I cut using my banner die.

Where Flowers Bloom

So very quickly I've finished off my card today as I found I only had 30 minutes till the City Crafters challenge - Week 208...Paint It, closed.  I have also used the layout at Sketchbook Saturday #120.
I have painted the background of my card with acrylics in a kind of wash and then stamped my flourish with white paint and gave it a Mod Podge coat to seal it - I love how it turned out.  For my two tabs I stamped one with the sentiment and repeated the flourish with white paint on the other and dressed it with a couple of mini buttons and a flower. Hello Friend

Make It Monday #161: Watercolor Splats

Birthday Countdown Card

Somehow today I've found some time at my desk - we had a busy morning in the garden and then I had to post my 'Fruit' photos for OBW. While making some comments I found Manuela making a card for the Make It Monday #161 Watercolor Splats challenge...this one is new to me and I was very inspired with Nicoles cards and video and it seemed like a simple technique - I'm all for trying new things. So here is my bright card for a friend... Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Our Beautiful World

This week Milagros has suggested FRUIT as our theme.

So I thought I'd have you play at guessing what is my fruit??...

We have a vine growing in our garden and it is just coming into fruit.

So you will have guessed - my fruit is a Passionfruit....have you eaten one, can't your taste that sharp tangy sweetness - I love eating mine on icecream.

This beautiful pink flower is from another variety of passionfruit. I love their amazing flowers....              If you'd like to join in and share your photos with us, please just pop over to OUR BEAUTIFUL WORLD Blog     Thanks for taking a peek                                                Robyn

Cherish Tag

  apriltag
Finally I've gotten around to making my April Tims tag - it  takes me forever to just sit down and tackle it because making one really takes me out of my comfort zone. And I don't have half of the goodies Tim uses to make his tag. Never to be put off - I will improvise; as I did making my trellis section - cut my own using my smallest fancy die. No washi tape ok, made my own on tissue paper. No mirrored card - found I had shiny silver paper, easy to glue to card. In the end I'm very happy with my tag which I still aging nicely next to the first three. Thanks Tim for your fab tutes and for your inspiration.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

A Merry Christmas

H is for HOME

Hello fellow card makers and hope you're enjoying your weekend. I've a Christmas card today which I am posting on two blog challenges - firstly the ABC Christmas Challenge where they are up to the letter 'H' for Home and secondly at Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas challenge Extra where it's any Christmas card. I've used the 'brick wall' embossing folder to create the house wall for my die cut window. The little robin is looking in at santa and the stockings which is some more of the lovely traditional paper from my 12x12 stack, as is the sentiment. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Two Turtle Doves

Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge - April, Any Christmas card
Hello and welcome to my blog, today I have a Christmas card - a nice bright one for a change. I'm using the layout at Retro Sketches rs#111, and the theme of '12 days of Christmas' at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and I'm posting at Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Extra challenge as it's Anything Christmas this month.  I'm very pleased there are these Christmas challenges happening throughout the year as it certainly helps build the card stash and take the pressure off at the end of the year when you have many other things to be concentrating on; even  just getting cards posted is a task.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

What's On Your Workdesk, Wednesday?

Wow mid week again when we share what's going on at our workdesk - with half the world...if you're visiting and would like to know more of this phenomenon  pop over to our host Julia's blog for WOYWW #255 and she'll explain.

So what's happening at my desk this morning....well I've taken the photo early as I've just spilled the sequins all over the desk, lucky it's only a small container - hint, I use those little clear plastic trays the fruit and veg come on because you can bend them to funnel beads etc back into their containers.  I'm making my own embellishment to play along with a challenge, and friend Vikki had stamped and sent me this fine lady and challenged me to make a card - more of her in my card post.

On my desk you can see my Twinkling H2Os on the right out ready to paint the lady, a card I posted earlier, my coffee mug (see pic), a card ready to send to the USA for the monthly card chain challenge, and my open folder of pearls and gems...and peeking out of the top of the folder is some new stamps that arrived yesterday...yippee, now to play with them. It's been a short week here, two public holidays; Easter and ANZAC day and we had our kids and gorgeous Sophie for two whole days....so of course there are some photos of her - she's rocking on hands and knees now.
Sophie with Nanna and Sophie meeting Arthur.
Well I'm off now to visit some desks, see how many I can comment on this week - thanks to all those who visited last week and do hope you've had an enjoyable, safe Easter. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Just Because...

Inspired by Stamping, Irit Shalom, WHW134, Everyday Greetings Stamp Set, Thinking Of You CardWHW #134–Make Your Own Fancy Embellishments

At Inspired by Stamping this week the Whoo Hoo Wednesday tutorial #134 is to make your own embellishments...here is Irit's lovely Good Friends card showing her star embellishments.
I made my pearl center by first die cutting a flower in glitter paper and adhering pearls to sequins and then arranging them around the center pearl. I also scatter a few single ones on the card.
This fine lady is a stamped image sent to my by my very special stamping buddy Vikki and she challenged me to make a card...well it has sat on my desk for some time with no inspiration because I wasn't sure how I was going to colour her...well I've used my Twinkling H2Os. Then die cut a medallion in black and under-laid it with a mauve piece I sprayed with shine colour mist. The sentiment is from the IBS Flowers Bloom set. The background is an inked embossing folder and the white foliage just stands out on the left - I think it suits this lady and I'm very happy with how it turned out.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Thank You

Happy Wednesday to you and I do hope your are enjoying your week..it's a short week here in Australia with Easter - allowing us a Monday public holiday and then another PB on Friday for ANZAC day when we remember all those brave men and women who have fought for Australia and New Zealand and especially those who lost their lives.
I started making this card yesterday and just finished off  with a few pearls this morning. I've used the layout at Inspired by Stamping IBSC#81. The background under the flowers is created by stamping Versamark on gloss card and inking over the top, and the little tag a made from a circular die.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Just a Note

This card is made with a friend in mind with these colours and flowers. I've used the layout at Friday Mashup 156, they are also asking for an Ombre background, and the photo inspiration at Fusion with the flowers in mind.  I love creating my own card backgrounds - for this one I just gave the watercolour card a washing with three colours of Twinkling H2Os, so it has a bit of a sparkle.  The centre panel of the card has been in my drawer for some time-it is the packaging from a stamp purchase and I kept it knowing I'd try to incorporate it into a card...I finished it with a sentiment banner and a spray of paper flowers.  The card also fits with the theme at CAS-ology week 91 -"Note", but I see it has already closed, never mind. Live it Up!!

Week 207 ~ Up, Up and Away
Hello from my crafty space today where I have the company of my Skyping friend Vikki...she's on holiday so we're making the most of it.
My card today is for the City Crafter Challenge Week 207 - Up, Up and Away with this lovely colourful picture as inspiration. Had to scrounge deep in my pre-stamped drawer for these to hot air balloons that I coloured and close trimmed.  I've teamed it with the sketch layout at Just Add Ink Week 211. To create the background I sponged distress inks through a lattice die cut and over stamped with script and stamped a sentiment. Then stamped another sentiment on the banner die cut and edged it with a fine zigzag edge.
I'm really happy with the card as I didn't want to have to make a "brightly coloured" one.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn
