Happy Birthday

I've made this card for my friends birthday, she suggested we try Zentangles last week....so over the week I played with a couple of designs from You-tube and have made this card for her. I had fun and will probably dabble again. I'm posting my card to Seize the Birthday (without the pennants or banners topping), and also for Addicted to Stamps #114  - a CAS card.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Challenge #114 CAS

Happy Birthday

So for my final card this afternoon I have had a go at the Ink Blowing Technique at Friday Mashup #FM179 and combined it with the colour suggestions - Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Black. I used a die cut 'Happy' and stamped and embossed 'Birthday' to create my sentiment.  Thanks for taking a peek

Time to Celebrate Friendship

Last week I created the background panel with scrunched up waxed lunch wrap and Distress Ink and really wanted to incorporate it in a card....and as usual one doesn't want to cover it up but you ended up doing that anyway...so through my autumn leave you can just see it.  I used the layout at Just Add Ink #233 and at Crazy 4 Challenges #255 they would like leaves on your project.

Capture the Moment

The clean and simple card prompt at The Cutting Edge Challenge #11 really caught my eye, so I've created this card using very similar element, the camera, the colours and the die cut edge. It was quick and easy and fun.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Let's Catch Up

Today I'm playing along with a new blog Cutscropscreativity who are holding a Coffee Lovers Bloghop to celebrate Happy National Coffee Day. I've had this stamp also for a very long time, secondhand actually but  I found it too busy to use up toll now so following along with the NBUS notion, I've inked and coloured it in, layered it to try and brighten the sad colouring I did and then added a tied on sentiment tag.  Over at Inkspirational they are having a Beverages/Drinks theme challenge so I am posting this there also.
Thanks for taking a peek, be quick to join in the fun Robyn

Our Beautiful World

Our Beautiful World Week 66 theme is
MUSIC.....
I am just not musical at all, can't sing a note, read music or play an instrument
...so sad!!
I don't have music on all the time, like some friends and when I do it is definitely not the latest 'style',
my favourites are Michael Buble and Human Nature.
Lucky both our children are musical, Jacalyn can sing beautifully and Ryan learnt the Saxaphone.
But as a card maker I searched the Op shops for old music books or sheets that I can use on my projects....here are some I found earlier this year.

And here is a bamboo flute I found and which I plan to give to our gorgeous Sophie....
do you think her parents will thank me!!!!
What might be your thoughts on MUSIC, do you have any photos to share, please join in and pop  over to Our Beautiful World blog to join in and see the other team members music photos.
Thanks for taking a peek and enjoy your week Robyn

Merry Christmas Door

This afternoon I have another Christmas card using the layout at CAS(E) this sketch #94 and the inspirational photo at Festive Friday challenge #41
First I  coloured the wreath with red and green embossing pens and clear embossed it, and used Distress Inks to colour in the holly, bow and berries. Then I used the scorepal to emboss lines on the white card to make it look like a paneled door.  I stamped the sentiment and hand drew a banner around it, fine cut it and mounted in on foam tape, added a ribbon bow and metallic button for door knob....I layered the door on woodgrain designer paper. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Serenity tag

I'm pretty please with myself today after completing The September tag for Tim's 12 Tags of 2014 - that will be nine I've made with me dabbling in techniques I wouldn't normally go in for....but in saying that I'm sure I'll be using some of them on creations in the future. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Friday Smiles

I'm smiling now because I remembered it was Friday Smiles over at Annies blog
I had been a little  down in the dumps because hubby has contacted me from Papua New Guinea where he is working this week and told me his flight is booked home for Monday... mmm my birthday is Sunday so I guess it's going to be celebrated a day late...never mind.
I've just been out the back and taken this sunset photo...you should see how many sunsets I have...this is the view from my craftroom window and the glaring sun, shines right in, but sadly we're in suburbia and there are roof tops and powerlines everywhere, still it was a glorious orange.
This morning I rang our daughter regarding printing a canvas of gorgeous Sophie and we were deciding which one...

We were both laughing over the phone at this last photo of her looking sideways...cheeky girl

We couldn't decide so I've ordered a collage of the four.
PS  My gerbera is growing beautifully too dark now to take a pic, so next week.
Cheers and hope you've got a lovely weekend planned, Robyn

Share a smile...

Merry Christmas

Well I've had a lovely afternoon colouring....with my Derwent watercolour pencils....I've had this never before used stamp on my desk for a few weeks now waiting, waiting - it's been waiting for years actually and finally yeah I've made not one but two cards.  They're oversized but as I've put a bit of work into them they'll be for special people.  I've played along with Merry Monday #127 - TIC TAC TOE - diagonal bottom left to top right .. Red, Twine/Ribbon, Embossing. I am also posting to NBUS#2 and selected to go with 1. Christmas and 2. Two cards with the same stamp.

You Colour My World

My card today is for the Mixed Media Card Challenge - September 2014....and my first time posting with this group....thought I might like to join in and challenge myself using more medium than I do usually.  So I created the background panel by first embossing it with a Textile emb folder, then I ran it through again without the folder to flatten it. Next I inked my plastic sheet with Distress Inks and sprayed the card with a fair bit  of water and dumped it onto the ink (I didn't press too hard so some of the slightly raised embossed area took the ink more than the background. I used the same Distress Inks on a leaf stamp and randomly stamped the images. I stamped one of white card and cut it out. Then I die cut an oval for the sentiment and mounted it on another shape and finished off with a bow of string and a few beads and metal leaf. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

What's On Your Workdesk, Wednesday?

Good morning/afternoon according to wherever it is you live from 4:30pm Queensland, Australia...and I'm about to travel the world visiting desks of very inspirational and creative people...pats on the back to you and especially Julia...who hosts this crazy desk sharing on her blog...so if you want to know more about WOYWW #277 visit here!!!
TOP photo my main desk with trusty laptop on the left with a parcel and card on the corner from friend Estelle (as it's my birthday Sunday). In the middle is my workpad covered with Zentangle doodles - my Saturday skyping buddy Vikki, challenged me to try it, so I just followed along with someone on You-tube and had a go...I think it'll take a bit of practice. In the middle is an autumn themed card I'm working on and one to the right as well. And there's that bird tree stamp from last week and another added to the "I'm going to use this before I put it away" pile.
This is my right side desk...and I'm showing you this because I've just come home from printing photos to make a first year album for gorgeous Sophies birthday next month...stay tuned.
Close up of my Zentangle another on the scrap under the pink pencil. My Autumn card is to be posted so I'll link that here.
Thanks for visiting my desk, do hope you're creativity is flowing...Cheers Robyn
..in my opinion!
PS just in case you think I'm a tidy worker....nope, minutes after the top photos, I was scrounging through folder and paper pads looking for the finishing touches to my autumn card.

Our Beautiful World

This week 65 at Our Beautiful World the prompt by Manuela is River
My first four photos were taken of the Dochart River in Perthshire, Scotland on my visit with mum in 2010. These were taken at Killin where a very old stone bridge cross it at the Falls of Dochart...they were flowing foaming over the rocks and so pretty with autumn when we were there but I'm led to believe in winter it's spectacular. The fourth pic is of mum and our reles returning to the car after visiting the fabulous Bridge End Mill Gift Shoppe in the background.

In contract here a a few photos of the river gorges in Karijini National Park Set part of the Hamersley Range in the heart of the Pilbara region, northern Western Australia near where we lived in 2111/12. Erosion over 2500 million years has carved these amazing escarpments and created waterfalls and pools. These of photos of the Fortescue Falls and track ending at Fern Pool.

Thanks for taking a peek and maybe you would like to see what the other team members have on their blogs this week

Christmas Blessing

I've made a second Christmas card today for the Merry Monday #126 challenge to make the sentiment the star of the card.....and this time I have done some stamping.  I embossed the background panel, swiped it with Versamark and sprinkled on Enchanted Gold EP. Then stamped my sentiment in Versamark and embossed it with Pearl Gold EP, I also did the edge of the panel and popped it up on the card with foam dots. A few gold gems finished the card.  I'm also going to post it to NBUS #2 option 1 - Christmas card.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn
