Our Beautiful World

This week 65 at Our Beautiful World the prompt by Manuela is River
My first four photos were taken of the Dochart River in Perthshire, Scotland on my visit with mum in 2010. These were taken at Killin where a very old stone bridge cross it at the Falls of Dochart...they were flowing foaming over the rocks and so pretty with autumn when we were there but I'm led to believe in winter it's spectacular. The fourth pic is of mum and our reles returning to the car after visiting the fabulous Bridge End Mill Gift Shoppe in the background.

In contract here a a few photos of the river gorges in Karijini National Park Set part of the Hamersley Range in the heart of the Pilbara region, northern Western Australia near where we lived in 2111/12. Erosion over 2500 million years has carved these amazing escarpments and created waterfalls and pools. These of photos of the Fortescue Falls and track ending at Fern Pool.

Thanks for taking a peek and maybe you would like to see what the other team members have on their blogs this week

Our Beautiful World

Hello and hope you're enjoying your weekend and have had a chance to snap a few photos this week.  Manuela has suggested the prompt for Week 61 challenge at Our Beautiful World ....GATE

This is my mum standing outside Buckingham Palace Gates...how ornate they were even on the cold, wet day we visited in 2010...it brings back wonderful memories as I'd taken her to visit relatives she'd never met (both parents were from Scotland) in England and Scotland and then to return home to Australia to celebrate her 80th birthday with all the family.

Kensington Palace Gates in Kensington Gardens, also on our visit to UK...what a lovely park too.

Back at home in Yeppoon I went in search of a nostalgic picket fence gate with a cottage garden and quaint letterbox...so I didn't find too many front gates around here, mostly no front fences is the trend these days. But I did find these country gates just out of town
This one even has a name...
Most of all I loved this one...doesn't look like it gets much use but it was lopsided and draped with this glorious flowering vine.
Thanks for dropping in to take a peek, hope you might also join in and share a photo, in the meantime please visit the other team members blogs to see their fabulous photos this week...

Our Beautiful World

The Our Beautiful World
FIRST YEAR CELEBRATIONS
 continue for the second week.
Our photo prompt this week is to include the number 1 or the word ONE in your photo

I have made this card in a box to display my number 1
And to follow along with my baby photo of last week....here is a snapshot of me with my first birthday cake - I suppose the photo was taken outside as the old Brownie camera didn't have a flash. I don't remember it but I bet that was a yummy chocolate cake. Following are a couple of birthday cards from the 1950s - cute (these are not actually mine, but I do have very similar ones stored at home)

The blog hop continues for the second week so if your haven't played along and left a comment for each of the team please do as there are prizes from some of the team ...

My Lawn and Garden

This is my back yard about four weeks ago...totally overgrown with meter high weeds...
Then I started the weeding process....I don't believe in weed killer and beside you still have to remove all the dead weeds later, so up they have roots and all. Click on the photos for a larger view any time.
So I cleared one thirdish 3 weeks ago
Then last Monday 2nd June I started on the rest.

My son, Ryan borrowed the work tray truck and helped me pick up 50 sq meters Monday night - that's about a tonne. We unloaded it Monday night and I layed it Tuesday and then got back to the weeding...which took me till Friday to finish.

Then hubby, Stephen arrived back from work, we had one enormous heavy trailer load of weeds for the dump, and I'm so grateful Stephen was there to help at the end and I was pretty "buggered"

So early Saturday morning they picked up another 85 sq meters and Stephen and I layed the rest.....before he went off to play golf.
It looks spectacular...if I may say so... I left gaps in the laying to save money and this turf is buffalo grass which spreads really well so in no time it'll be all over GREEN.

Our garden is a tropical one as we live in Queensland, northern Australia so you have to grow plants with varied leaf shapes and colours.
We have two huge mango trees and  banana trees

Hibiscus are a favourite of mine

I gather all sorts of plants to give colour to the gardenI miss my garden in Townsville a lot but know that one day I'll be living back there and be able to enjoy it and tinker whenever I have the urge....till then I'm adding to my collection in pots. Cheers and I hope you enjoyed visiting my garden. Robyn

Our Beautiful World

Hello this week from my desk with some pics for the Our Beautiful World where the photo inspiration this Week #41 is "Eggs"..... Spring is here and Easter is close, what could be more fun than having EGGS as our word prompt this week?
Well to be honest I was at a lose because one initially thinks of birds and eggs and there's no way I have any of these in my stash. And of course Easter eggs ... and I refuse to buy Easter eggs and buns until Easter (hate the commercial side).

But I have bought this cute bunny egg cup for our grand daughter so thought I'd try my hand at food photography...not so good but it's colourful.

Then while I was browsing the shops I spotted these other eggs in a Jewelers shop which I snapped with my phone through the window.
This theme was a real challenge but I enjoyed stretching my brain and abilities.
If you'd like to share your photos join in the fun at Our Beautiful World.
Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Our Beautiful World - Week 31 'Fresh'

Friend Vikki and I love to take photos and recently she found a group that share on this site Our Beautiful World so we're entering our pics. I found this gorgeous pink hakea flower sparkling with dew on my morning walk, just magic.
Thanks for taking a peek  Robyn
