Freedom and Happiness

Having some fun with the old wax paper technique on gloss card... (rather I'm using photographic paper - it works well) - I used Distress Inks on it and sadly the photo doesn't show the creamy colour at the top very well.  Then I stamped various dragonflies and fussy cut them out... then added some glitter glue. To finish off the card stamped on my sentiment and attached to a cream card.  I am playing along with Stamplorations Theme and Sketch May challenge - Things with Wings.  Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day.

Joy

Today I've been playing around with using my die cut plates to do some embossing, then while the plate is still in place used Distress Inks to sponge/blend through the pattern...I really like the effect with the sponging off the edge giving me a nice space to add my glittery die cut sentiment - I inked around the edge of the die cut so it would lift off the white background a bit.
I am playing along with Addicted to Stamps and More challenge #29 - Clean and Simple, also with ABC Christmas challenge - J for Joy and K for Keep it Simple, and lastly with Christmas Craft All Year 'Round - Anything Goes.  Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day

Happy Christmas

Well I hadn't intended to have two cards for the Muse: Christmas Visions 100th challenge... but it is a special occasion for the DT and I had originally started making this card, but thought it had way too much gold and put it aside.  So I looked at it again and decided to finish it off...
I stamped and embossed my poinsettia image in Golden Sunshine EP and used Distress Oxides to water colour it. Then to complete it today I added some light blue pencil shading and used a Gelly ROss pen to add some lines of dots.  I decided to go with a large die cut sentiment instead of a stamped one.. the gold card I selected goes beautifully with the gold embossing.  Finally I used all the scraps from the die cut to arrange around my image.  I was inspired by Chriss's card.. with the elements - Poinsettias, red and cream colours, with blue background, gold embossing, large sentiment and the use of pencil.  Thanks for visiting, congrats to DT, enjoy your week

Merry Christmas

A lovely card from Chriss is our inspiration for the 100th challenge over at Muse: Christmas Visions ... congratulations team.
For my card I  have used lots of elements from Chriss's card... the layout, spray of flowers, the colours, with blue background and gold embossing.  I masked and stamped the three flowers and added a scattering of stars, then water coloured my gold embossed image with Distress Oxides and washed in the background, then to finish added my sentiment, in gold embossing.   I am also playing along with Addicted to Stamps and  More - Holiday theme.  Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day

Warm Wishes

Well the light bulb went on this afternoon for me to make a 'Snowman' card for CAS Christmas May challenge  (it's quite difficult to think snow etc when I live in the sunny tropics)... but guess what it's closed - never, this challenge inspired me to make this card.
I stamped my snowman, and again on orangish card for his heart nose and cut them out, and finally attached buttons.  Then I embossed some white card and cut out a sweater, found some 'argyle' DP for the neck, cuffs and bottom. To finish I die cut the white panel, framed it with red card onto a square white card.  I am playing along with Watercooler Wednesday WWC#171, Heidi's - All About Christmas challenge, also Happy Little Stampers May Christmas challenge - Anything Goes and lastly - May Rudolph Days Anything Goes challenge.  Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day

May Rudolph Days Challenge

Never look back .....

Love to play along with Power Poppy Power and Spark challenge and this month it is a Pop of Colour with basic Black and White..... I had forgotten Christine had used pink in her lovely inspirational card and it just happened to be the colour I chose as background to my black stamped magnolias.  I stamped my image twice off the page and then stamped on my sentiment.  I had some fun trying to get a 'blended' look with my watercolouring using Distress Oxide but I am happy with the result. I added a tiny bit of bright pink to the flower centers and decided to have a go at 'ghosting' my sentiment (I only recently read about this technique), then to finish added a scattering of tiny black gems.  Thanks for visiting and enjoy your weekend

Be Happy, Be Bright, Be You

Finally I decided the sentiment to add to my Mixed Media Artwork... inspired by the Bright colours of the Rubber Dance May challenge - Dark Red, Lime Green and Violet... I was also able to add some Metal embellishments.  I created my background with Distress Oxides in Violet and Red and stamped on some Green feather trees and scattered Purple circles.  I stamped some feather trees and a bird and cut them out and and coloured the both with DO. Added a strip of designer paper and attached my metal 'flowers'. and finished off layering the panel of purple and red card.

A Load of Birthday Wishes for You

oh goodness... I forgot our son-in-laws birthday this weekend, so have got my act together and created this card for him.  I coloured and fussy cut my stamped truck image and added some sparkle with a silver gel pen to it on the trim and exhaust pipe.  Then I grabbed an load of offcut scraps in different colours and stamped them up with different font 'happy birthday' stamps. The hardest part then was deciding on a background to display it all... and finally found this water wash background in my stash which I framed in dark blue on a blue card.  I am playing along with Challenge #85 at The Male Room - theme Cars.  Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day.

Do What Makes You Happy!!

A quick card from me this morning using a stamped and watercoloured image from my stash... and I thought this stamped sentiment went perfectly with my fishermen.  I am playing along with Watercooler Wednesday WWC170 - Penny's Masculine "Anything Goes" challenge.  Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day

Two Butterfly Cards

For my two cards for Darnell's Twofer Card challenge #5 displaying Butterflies, I decided to use some of my designer paper stash... to help with my colour choices....then to choose a stamp or die cut.... never realised how many of both I to have, all sizes and shapes.  I decided on a stamped image.

My  first DP is faun, cream and pinks... then I stamped my butterfly on a bright pink and cream script piece from the same pack and fussy cut it out before touching up sections of the image with Distress Oxides.  I used the off cuts to die cut some foliage and a strip for my pink stamped and embossed sentiment.
My second DP is a butterfly background on textured card in beige and cream. I decided to stamp my butterflies in brown ink and used sponged Distress Oxides to colour them and then fussy cut them out.  I used cream card stock to cut two foliage sprays and dull gold metallic paper to die cut a label on which I displayed my die cut sentiment...used the same DO inks to colour this.

It is Watercolour !!

A fun card from me this month for the CAS Watercolour challenge - Rainbow.  I've been procrastinating for weeks over my 'rainbow'.. a scene, flowers, a background - lots of inspiration for the design team and then "!" an idea to use my crazy birds... and one just wanted to go for a bold change (I have seen some wild hair colours lately), and as her friend say "It is watercolour" so will wash out - just like when you get ink all over your fingers, it'll wash off, eventually.  On my stamped images I used Distress Inks to watercolour and added a brush and puddles and my sentiment.  Thanks for visiting and enjoy your weekend

Happy Birthday

Ok, so today I have my third card for the May CAS Mix Up challenge - Gelatos or Crayons.  I tried something different and made a background panel with two colours.  First off though I thought I'd see what would happen with Gelatos over wax paper resist... so ironed the crinkled wax paper onto just normal card not gloss) and then applied Raspberry Gelato with a dry wet one - not much happened so sprayed some water on my wet one and smooched it about... it picked up in a few places - you might be able to see in pic.  Then I took a stencil and using Snow Cone Gelato added colour to the dry wet one and sprayed it with water... so while I applied it the water caused some areas to really lighten up and the blue shows nicely - I'm liking the end result.  To finish, I cut down the panel to fit and added a few punched flowers with white gel pen centers and lastly stamped my sentiment in Peacock Feather Distress Oxide.  That wasn't the end though --- I stamped the sentiment on the back of the card so had to cut that panel off and added it to another card.. my elements are Gelatos, stamping, stencils, wax resist.   Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day
