My Lawn and Garden

This is my back yard about four weeks ago...totally overgrown with meter high weeds...
Then I started the weeding process....I don't believe in weed killer and beside you still have to remove all the dead weeds later, so up they have roots and all. Click on the photos for a larger view any time.
So I cleared one thirdish 3 weeks ago
Then last Monday 2nd June I started on the rest.

My son, Ryan borrowed the work tray truck and helped me pick up 50 sq meters Monday night - that's about a tonne. We unloaded it Monday night and I layed it Tuesday and then got back to the weeding...which took me till Friday to finish.

Then hubby, Stephen arrived back from work, we had one enormous heavy trailer load of weeds for the dump, and I'm so grateful Stephen was there to help at the end and I was pretty "buggered"

So early Saturday morning they picked up another 85 sq meters and Stephen and I layed the rest.....before he went off to play golf.
It looks spectacular...if I may say so... I left gaps in the laying to save money and this turf is buffalo grass which spreads really well so in no time it'll be all over GREEN.

Our garden is a tropical one as we live in Queensland, northern Australia so you have to grow plants with varied leaf shapes and colours.
We have two huge mango trees and  banana trees

Hibiscus are a favourite of mine

I gather all sorts of plants to give colour to the gardenI miss my garden in Townsville a lot but know that one day I'll be living back there and be able to enjoy it and tinker whenever I have the urge....till then I'm adding to my collection in pots. Cheers and I hope you enjoyed visiting my garden. Robyn

Just a Note

My second card today is using the layout at Annabelle Stamps ac179.
The inspiration from the DT is quite dramatic and I liked the simple lines. Vikki suggested I try this layout and so I  got to use an Annabelle sentiment stamp from her collection...thanks Vikki for everything and the yummy curried lamb pie.  I love this designer paper - a nice combination of colours, I dressed it up with some tiny gems.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Green floral birthday

Happily I have a late afternoon card to post and after first seeing the colours at Dynamic Duos DD#63 I was thinking this had to be a male card but the DT girls made some lovely cards for inspiration so I went with a floral. I used the sketch for Annabelle Stamps ac168 and even mades some flowers from those very old paper ones from Kaisercraft and quite happy with them so I'll be making some more with the stash of different colours I have.  Thanks for taking a peek and hope you've had a great weekend.
PS the colours in the photo are a wee bit darker than my card

Especially for You

Inspired-by-Stamping-July-B
A little mauve card for a birthday or friend from my desk this afternoon. I've used the layout from the Inspired by Stamping July Blog Hop  and incorporated some background paper with small polka dots to run with the theme at Annabelle stamps ac167.  At Papertake Weekly the challenge is to use a diecut or punch on you card - I cut a double scallop circle to create a frame and a white frilly one to mount the sentiment. Thanks for taking a peek

Daisy card

Happy Wednesday... and here's a bright cheery daisy card from me today for the Annabelle Stamps colour challenge ac165.  This is a pretty old Penny Black stamp but I do like it lots and haven't seen it for a bit as it's wood mounted and got packed away while we were in the caravan.  Also this week I've been having fun finishing off some baby things I've been knitting as our daughter and hubby are to have our first grandchild in Oct.....super happy :-)

Happy Birthday

Oh doesn't that cupcake look too gorgeous to eat...love the folded flower and tiny pearls to finish it - so thank you Scrapbook Boutique for the June inspiration photo. I was definitely inspired to make a card.......I love these lovely fabric flowers you can buy now and so I designed my card around it and now I have my tiny flower punch unpacked I guess I'll be using them again too.
Thanks for taking a peek

Pink Cards Tote

SOS #100 Mother's Day or Pink

I had an idea early this year to box up my stash of cards (I make many more than I could possible give awayy - I suppose that means I'm ADDICTED) and give them as gifts and donate them to charity trading tables... so here's one of the container ideas I've finally finished off and I think is the easiest AND it only uses one sheet of 12x12 (so I'm planning to use up some of those coloured sheets that don't quite make into the card colour schemes).  Annabelle Stamps ac162, this week have an Anything Goes theme, so do Our Creative Corner and Shopping Our Stash SOS#100 have a 'Pink Theme' or Mothers' Day....I've made this little box for my mum and will be able to give it to her weekend after next when we get together for my sisters 50th.  If I want to do tag closers though I'll have to check I've got matching colours and try out other ideas to close the top (used velcro here)...this one was hard to match up. Thanks for taking a peek

PS...I got this box idea from Pinterest and then can't find it again...lucky I had folded up a try out one
