Friday Smiles

Firstly one very big well done to Annie on your 200th Friday Smiles post... you really do inspire us to take a moment to reflect on our week and find the positives, the happy events and the laugh out loud moments....thank you Annie.
As it is practically Christmas eve my post is you to wish  you one and all a Very Happy Christmas and Wonderful New Year.
I'm busy at this time with a Christmas cake in the oven, happily have all the presents wrapped and food all ready for the festive eating.
Here's our fibre optic Christmas tree on the back deck - it looks gorgeous twinkling away, changing colours against the night sky and I can see it through the kitchen window.
And here are the gorgeous grand daughters... in their Christmas outfits...
Here's wishing you all the best and hope to see you joining in the blogging fun next year with Annie. Cheers

Friday Smiles

Share a smile... WEEK 199, FRIDAY SMILES
...this week has flown by so fast - I've missed Friday altogether but I'm sure I had plenty to smile about.... for instance this little table and chairs set hubby has made for our gorgeous grand daughters for Christmas.  I made sure we saved all the offcuts of our tongue and groove flooring when the renos were happening and they have been put to good use so far. He even cut hearts in the chair backs and I got some chipboard letters for their names....I know they'll be rapt to have their own setting at our place.
Next thing I remember mostly about this week is that had us jumping for joy.... it has rained, yippee!!! see the green grass above, it wasn't much rain but at least it didn't pass around again but it did freshen up our weary gardens.  Here's a pic of my pink frangipani that has just come into bloom, first time...there are so many lovely colours but only the white spreads it's fragrance around the garden.
So now all there is to do - is check off our list and make sure all the presents and food is organised - I don't want to go shopping this week, there'll be no car parks.
So if you've some smiles or a funny joke to share please pop over to Annie's blog - A stitch in time and join in the fun.  Have a wonderful week, cheers

Friday Smiles

Share a smile...  WEEK 198  at FRIDAY SMILES
Happily today I can share a quite a few photos.... ones that really have me smiling.
Can you guess??
Yes we're at the beach....
Hubby and I decided it was time for a few days away in the caravan
...so we are at Forrest Beach, just east of Ingham which is about an hour and a half drive north of where we live.  See here hubby in the background cooking us breakfast
off on our morning stroll down the beach
to the stinger nets (for safe swimming from the box jellyfish)

yep, that's me - lolling about in the beautiful warm, clear water
Here are a family of curlews who visit the camps in hope of being fed
Today we drove around the area and here at Lucinda is the longest bulk sugar jetty in the southern hemisphere, just under 6 kilometers (around 3 1/2 miles)
And lastly, this sunrise had me running for the camera at 5:30 this morning.
Hope you've had a wonderful week, have you some thoughts, photos, or funnies that you'd like to share.....pop over to Annies, blog - A Stitch in Time  and join in

Friday Smiles

Well I've had a relaxing day today - our daughter has the day off (she's a nurse), so she shouted both hubby and me to the movies... saw Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them.... great movie. Then we came home, had lunch and played scrabble till it was time for her to pick up the girls from day care.
I found a couple of pics on facebook to share.... I thought this one pretty cool for us Aussies. My sister lives rural and feeds the parrots just like this, not sure she could get this close to take a photo.
This one I thought was worth a chuckle... as we're still decluttering after the renos and move back into the house.
And lastly my photo of Watson, snoozing on top of the single bed mattress resting on our bedroom wall,  that the girls use when they sleep here
It's been another hot week here and no rain but I'm happy because we do have air conditioning now and I can craft away all day in my cool room.  Have you had a happy week, with plenty to smile about, why not pop over to Annie's blog and share. Have and wonderful weekend, cheers

A nice cold Gin and Tonic - well the males of the family have taken themselves up the road to the pub for a Friday afternoon beer.... so I'm relaxing too.

That is my stash of Christmas cards I have made for this year.  55 cards and on the left 15 tags to add to card fronts ---- now, to write them all up and get them posted by the end of the month.

And lastly my Desert Rose on the front balcony is in flower....it's gorgeous

Friday Smiles

Share a smile... WEEK 195 FRIDAY SMILES
Another early Saturday morning post for me to share my photos on Annies blog of what's bought a smile to my face this week....
Well actually these are from last week and so much has been happening here that I forgot the girls birthday party. So here are the sisters now three and one in their party outfits
They had a face painting lady attend the party so of course Sophie had a Minnie Mouse face
And here is her Minnie Mouse Cake
And Mia's Minnie Mouse cupcake tree
She missed the candling blowing out bit having gone off for a nap,
but next day at the park she had her cupcake - no dainty nibbles just push it in...
Now there's a story to all that chocolate icing
I was helping with the party preparations the day before and recall telling Jacalyn earlier in the week about making icing when we iced Sophies first cake....
You know how it goes....just add a little bit of milk to the icing mix at a time
Well Jacalyn's reading the recipe from the back of the cake mix pack and we were making a double batch.... so she doubled the milk 300ml and we're on a roll....
lucky I stopped her at about 150ml
and of course we ended up with runnnnnnny icing
so much runnnnnnny icing
I emptied out a load of the mix into the yellow bowl
and then we added 3/4 of that pack of icing mix,
iced the cupcakes and more and there was still this bowlful left over
HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!
Do you think we've learnt a lesson??
Now to get organised as I'm going over to friend Vikki's for a stamping session today.
Have some happiness to share, pop over to Annie's - A Stitch In Time blog and join in.
Have a wonderful week, cheers

Friday Smiles

Share a smile... FRIDAY SMILES -WEEK 194  at Annies A Stitch In Time

Today I've just come home from two nights away with our daughter and family having a mini break in a cabin by the beach...forgot to take those photos.
But here are a few others - Thursday hubby had the day off so drove out to join us just in time for breakfast
A lot of our time was spent in the pool as it's safer for the little ones than the beach, but we did go walking in the sand and collected shells, wrote our names and watched the crabs digging holes
Mia was happy to sort the rocks at the base of these palms
And Sophie just wanted to stay in the pool...glad they're happy to wear their hats most of the time
And surrounding the pool were lots of gorgeous hibiscus, can't resist taking their photos.

And my favourite - this frilly pink one
Just having a break away from the house is refreshing - and watching the girls play and experience the beach gives me plenty to smile about....hope you've had a happy week, and if you'd like to join in and share, pop over to Annies blog.  Thanks for taking a peek here and enjoy your weekend
