Happy Birthday

This is the latest of my Moogly crochet squares... only one to catch up now.

Using the leftover of a  piece  I made recently with Drawing Inks on Photographic paper I decided to see how it would go as a background with this die cut

The die cut beautifully with a shim and rather than cut down the diecut I made a frame from white card and attached to a red card base... it makes a larger card.  Then to finish I stamped and white embossed the sentiment on black card and mounted it with foam tape.

This is the masterboard I made and the first card...

I am joining in with NBUS challenge #15.... using for the first time this intricate floral die.

Oh yes!!! I was so please to read that our dear friend Darnell has resurrected the NBUS challenge and has created a blog just for our Never-Before-Used-Schtuff cards.... thank  you Darnell.
NBUS challlenge #13......

This Protea die was one of those... oh yes I just have to have it and lucky for me on that day a couple of months back, the store had a 40% off sale... which makes it even better.
So I've used it for the first time on this card.  I die cut the flower and used Distress Oxide inks to blend colour over it using post-it note scraps to mask areas.... that was the easy bit.  Finding some matching card stock and deciding on a layout was the hard bit... eventually I chose these colours as the enhanced the colours in the flower.  To finish I stamped and white embossed the sentiment.

Happy Birthday

I spent my birthday money and bought a new die set - it was worth it too.  I made this male card using a watercolour background created with Brushos to display the lovely pattern of the die cut on my white top panel  I used a scrap of the background to stamp my sentiment and edged it with ink. I layered the panel on blue to match and to finish foam mounted my sentiment and added some 'technology' in the form of gear die cuts to finish my card.
I am posting to The Male Room #70 theme challenge - Anything Goes with option on Technology, to Seize the Birthday - Anything Goes, to Less is More #348 - Watercolour challenge and finally to Darnell's NBUS #12 challenge - new dies. Thanks for taking a peek

Merry Christmas

A last minute card from me today for the Christmas Cards All Year September challenge - Use Leaves.   I love the elegant script of this sentiment - it lends itself to make a long card for a change. I just stamped and embossed it in gold and then used a new stamp to add the holly leaves scattered around the edge of my top panel. I used my birthday present - Distress Oxides, to stamp and colour the leaves and used Twinkling H2Os to colour the berries so they shine.  I  layered this onto red cardstock and on a white card.  I am also posting to NBUS #12 - I love that Darnell encourages us to use our never before used stash.  Thanks for taking a peek

Thinking of You

A card today for the Muse Challenge #234, casing Kim's lovely card below and using a new stamp set (a freebie with a magazine) - for my entry to Darnell's  #12 NBUS challenge.  I really love the colour combination and layout of her card and have also used flowers and birds as my stamped image.  I coloured them with Distress Inks and to finish stamped on my sentiment and added a few sequins.  I thought the card looked a bit flat so added an embossed line around the edge and layered onto blue card.

Happy Australia Day

I've just time to post my card this evening to the Just Add Ink #343 challenge - Pop-Up or Interactive card... and as tomorrow is Australia Day I have used my Wattle flower stamp with gold and green the Australian colours - to play along with Fusion Card Challenge.  I have also included some die cutting to play along with NBUS #9The first optional theme I used this week is a NBUS Technique called "Hidden Word" or "Camouflaged Word" or, if you want to get technical "Steganography."
I've made a square card, folded the front back on itself and attached some DP on the back panel - firstly I die cut "hello" into the DP and then raised it with another die cut so it hides/blends with the card but is raised.  I stamped and coloured my wattle with Brushos and layered it with green and 3D mounted it to the front.  Then cut a strip of gold and this becomes a 'hinge' across the front attached to the back.  Finally I stamped a NBUS sentiment and a few scattered greetings and attached a printed sentiment to the gold strip.  Thanks for taking a peek

Australia Day is the official National Day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, it marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Port JacksonNew South Wales, and the raising of the Flag of Great Britain at Sydney Cove by Governor Arthur Phillip. In present-day Australia, celebrations reflect the diverse society and landscape of the nation, and are marked by community and family events, reflections on Australian history, official community awards, and citizenship ceremonies welcoming new members of the Australian community ..... Thinking of You

My card today is in celebration of Darnell's 5 Years of Blogging - this lady is just extraordinary and I admire her greatly - never met but I can sense that she is a kind, helpful and giving person...she encourages us all in card making land to not forget those items we buy and to dig them out and use them - it certainly has encouraged me.  She always makes time to drop by other bloggers sites and leave wonderful comments,,,,, THANK YOU DARNELL - You're a Gem and Congratulations.

To celebrate she is hosting one of her famous NBUS challenges (#8) and this time has added a few options.... this week along with using our Never Before Used Stuff we can use our coloured pencils of kraft coloured card.
I stamped my NBUS lilies with Distress Ink and used my very old Derwents to colour them in.... lot of fun and I did enjoy myself. Then I used some coordinating colour layers to frame my image and added a stamped sentiment.  Thanks for taking a peek

Tied with Love

I'm posting my card to five challenges - firstly with Darnells 'Never Before Used Schtuff' - challenge #7; I love playing along with NBUS because it really does make you search out a stamp you bought because it appealed to you but then you find you have favourites and migrate to them often, for me it's florals.  Then over at the Simon Says Monday challenge - It's a Stitch Up; so this NBUS stamp fell right into the theme. At Simon Says Wednesday challenge - It's Hip to be Square; haven't made a square card for ages.  The theme at House of Cards - Use Twine or the Colour suggestions - the lovely colours appealed to me so I've used them as a guide for my colouring. And finally the Stamplorations CAS challenge for August - Anything Goes with a twist of Gold - After painting my stamped image with Distress Inks and layering on colour card stock I "Tied" gold thread across the corners and finished with a small stamped heart and die cut 'love' for the sentiment.  Thanks for taking a peek

Hello

So glad I grabbed a few moments to make a card for the #18 Virginia's View challenge - Geometric Patterns....None of my stamps were very forcoming with such shapes but this embossing folder was just the thing.  I inked up one side before passing it through the cuttlebug and yippee for once the ink took evenly over the white card. I trimmed that down and layered it onto a black to frame it and tie in with the black items on the card.  I stamped the vase on orange card and fussy cut it and die cut the spray (my NBUS element) in black and orange so I could cut off the flowers and adhered them to the stem.  Then I die cut the sentiment in orange and black to give it a shadow effect.  I am posting my card to Darnell's #5 NBUS challenge....who so makes you look at the growing stash and make sure you USE it.  I'm quite pleased with my card as orange is not one of my goto colours.  Thanks for taking a peek

Live for Today, Dream of Tomorrow

ooooh dear I am a floral lady, just love flowers, so couldn't not post a card to these two challenges... CAS.ology - Blossom  and The Paper Players PP236 - Clean and Simple: Floral.
As this is a NBUS (new) stamp which I'm really liking - I'm joining Darnell and NBUS#4,... I just stamped and colored with Distress Inks and washed the background in very pale blue and drew a frame around it.  A simple layer of designer paper and a black banner finishes the card.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn
