Christmas Bells

With Silver Bells being the challenge over at City Crafter challenges Week 435 -- I decided to make a quick card.  Die cut my bells with glittery silver card and attached some shiny green holly and a lovely bright red bow.  Then from my DP stash I found this sentiment background paper in grey with silver print... just the thing. Used a long horizontal card in white and as quick as that it was made.  I am also joining in again at ABC Christmas challenge - 'V' - very quick.  Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day.

Birthday Wishes

Well my little chargers (grand daughters) have gone home today after a sleepover, and I found a few quiet moments to complete this card, using bits from my stash.  I created my background for this weeks Simon Says Wednesday challenge, with a stencil and masking areas and sponging wet colour using Distress Inks, - then I ran it through the Cuttlebug with my dotty border die and back the area with mauve coloured card - which I think has created a sort of Polka Dot effect for the City Crafters current challenge Week 400.
My layout is loosely following the Freshly Made Sketches #325 - in reverse, replacing the star with my die cut flower and the round sentiment with my rectangle.
Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day

Merry Christmas

I have had a busy weekend finishing off some cards which I put together from my stash of pre-stamped images and sentiment, and backgrounds.  This background was made when I decided to see how a puddle of gold reinker would look squashed between two pieces of card stock - then I dabbed it over with a scrunched plastic bag.  I flicked blue Twinkling H2Os over it to co-ordinate with the blue bauble.  The bauble image is white embossed on metallic blue card. I made the bauble topper by die cutting one end of a tag label die. I mounted my gold embossed sentiment on blue and hung my bauble with gold twine.  All of this gold suits well with the challenge over at City Crafters - Week 339 - Gold Finger.  Thanks for taking a peek

Hello, Sunshine

This morning I have finished off my tag card that I started yesterday.
I loved Erin's tag over at Tag You're...it!!  challenge #25 and decided to make a yellow version. Stamped my sunflowers and script on a white tag, coloured it with Distress Inks and sponged around the edges. I love how Erin's tag was layered so found some matching designer paper and then mounted it all on some Distress Inked background onto a white card.  Finished my card with a sentiment and trinket. I've made my tag card lovely sunny yellow to post to City Crafters challenge 269 - You Are My Sunshine.   Thanks for taking a peek

Best Wishes

I've made a card for City Crafters Week 265 - tic TAG toe challenge.
I used a stencil and mist to create the background, then stamped and water coloured my image and used a die to fancy cut the top end with a larger blue layer underneath. A simple stamped sentiment, a few gems and a ribbon tie to finish my card.  Thanks for taking a peek

Wine is Best....

I made this background panel some weeks back with new stencils I had bought....I just loved it so today I am really please to be using it on a card.  I have this fabulous wine bottle/glass stamp and simply stamped it in brown Versafine, then hand stamped the sentiment using letters sets (can't you tell; they're all wobbly) and then mounted that on dark brown card onto cream and decided not to trim off the extra but instead finished it off with a small tag. I'm posting to City Crafters challenge #246 - Cheers! ...might just be going to enjoy a red tonight at a BBQ with the neighbours.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

with love

Isn't this just a lovely photo City Crafters #225 have as their inspiration this week.  I love these soft warm neutral shades...so I created another background with Distress Inks and lightly stamped script randomly and embossed a daisy border on the bottom. I used a tag from my bought stash and tied on some wool threads. Then finished off with an embossed sentiment and stamped butterfly.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Noel

Today I find myself making another Christmas card for the stash...I cut up an snowflake embossed sheet and layered the squares onto an off white background to give it some depth. I stamped up part of a House Mouse stamp to give me the candle, coloured it in with silver and made a little flame with some die cut left scraps then added some stamped pine cones when I mounted it in the corner. The Noel sentiment is part of an embossed sheet so I highlighted it also with silver mounted it on gold metallic flag and finished off the card with a snowflake and gem. I've made the card for Festive Friday FFC#36 which is predominantly white with lots of elements to chose. I'm also going to post it to Christmas Cards All Year Round - July they are asking for non traditional colours and at City Crafters week 221 the theme is Christmas in July.  Pop over to their blogs to check out some awesome cards. Christmas Joy

My card this fine Wednesday is for - Christmas in July...the theme at City Crafters, week 221 and Merry Monday #118 would love to see ribbon and buttons on your card...so I've combined the two and made a cream shades card - white embossed my stamp image and used Distress Inks to colour in the background.  I've added some touches of liquid pearls and silver glitter pen, a garland of tiny heart and star shaped buttons and a cluster of pine cones to finish the card. Leave Room in Your Life

Today I'd like to thank the team at City Crafters for inviting me to a guest designer.
The inspiration for Week 220 is to  use Chipboard
I must say I haven't made too many cards in the past with chipboard but do have some old pieces in my stash.  So I went searching and came up with more bits than I thought. I've made four totally different cards for the challenge.
The first - a purple Friend  card was inspired by a pack of pre coloured and decorated alphabet letters. I scored the background and brayered distress inks over it then stamped a flourish corner and added a sentiment layered over a die cut flourish.
Then I decided for the second card to colour some bare chipboard letters in distress ink colours to suit a background I created by sponging distress ink through a stencil which was then lightly spritzed with water. Stamped on the remaining sentiments, layered onto dark purple card and  added a few sequins to finish.
Then I discovered these laser cut floral/foliage pieces and figured I would make a real mess trying to colour them so in the end  I have recycled a green packaging card, stamped on some white flowers and hand cut a white layering card piece to help them stand out and blend in the sentiment tag that was strategically placed over the brand name.  A length of ribbon under the chipboard flower, a few scattered pearls and all this was layered on some beige metallic card.
Now in another pack I found a heap of tags and frames, so another style of card emerged.  I painted the frame with cream acrylic, stamped the sentiment on a background created with distress inks sponged direct onto waterolour card and sprayed with water. Layered this on two tones of blue onto a cream card and finished off the frame with a curly bow, flower and pearls.
PS...seems I was so inspired, I decided to decorate the front of a mini album I made last week to hold the ATCs from a recent swap at WOYWW (click here to learn more)

I have enjoyed making these cards and to see how my use of the chipboard grew as I played about, I'm sure to now use it more often. I found some more intricately laser cut pieces at a recent craft show.

Fill Your Life with Sunshine

My mojo is working well for me this week and I am enjoying making a few more cards and participating in challenges. Today I'm posting my card to Just Us Girls #249 where they would like you to use woodgrain and to City Crafter Challenge, week 219 with a lovely theme of Sunshine and Lavender.
I've embossed the background to represent wallpaper and made a shelf and picture frame from woodgrain designer paper. Then stamped a sentiment to go in the frame, and a vase of flowers to go on the shelf. Coloured the flowers with my Twinkling H2Os - I love them as they give a lovely sparkle, and double layered this on matching card stock.

Discover

My second card this afternoon is a 'beach' theme so I am playing along with the team at City Crafters, week 218 - Let's go the the Beach. I have had this little girl stamped for quite a few years so it was time she got some colour (this turned out to be a bit difficult because back in the day we just used any old white card and this one sops up the colour fast and patchy). Add some sand and a few shells (from a stash I have collected on my walks) to give the card a real beach feel.

Just a Note

The theme "it's for the birds" at City Crafters...week 215, inspired my  card this afternoon.  Isn't he just gorgeous in the inspirational photo. For this card I've used a number of different elements; embossed and inked background, I fussy cut the top bird from designer paper, punched, layered and coloured my bottom bird. Then used a new label stamp and die to create the tag which is stamped on a music page from a old song book I picked up for 50 cents in the recycle shop. I fussy cut the stamped sentiment and wrapped a couple of strands of narrow ribbon around the card.... a way different card from me.
