Christmas card... only my second for the year

One last card for the month... there'll be no time for card making or crochet over the Easter weekend... as we have our two granddaughters come to stay.

So a Christmas card .... is for the Rudolph Days March challenge... there really needs to be some more Christmas cards happening here that's for sure.

I was inspired by Loll at the Group of Seven Cardmakers  with their Masked Stenciling technique.. to try using a shadow die set.. this Christmas one has that extra outline die... so I used it to cut a mask, then blended (not very well) green Distress Oxide over a white card panel and then add the Poinsettia stencil over the top and blended the colours the flowers and holly, then die cut the sentiment in shiny red metallic to add to the masked area - hope you can follow all that waffling.

Card Chain Challenge October Reveal

 

This month I sent my Card Chain Challenge card off to Arlene in USA.  

I used the sketch, colour palette - blue, pink and silver and friendship theme

I watercoloured Blossom Sprays #5 from STAMPlorations with Distress Inks, trimmed the image and gave it a shiny silver border.  Found a pretty blue floral patterned paper in my stash and arrange the pieces to suit the layout and finished off with a stamped sentiment on a die cut circle, border also with shiny silver card.

Crazy Bird Notecard

So today (Fridays) I meet with some scrapbooking friends... where I make cards instead... suppose I was feeling a little 'crazy' today... and stamped some TH Crazy Birds and zany flowers from Stamps to Inspire - Polka Doodles - Summertime.

I created an embossed background using a Hexagonal 3D embossing folder from Practical Publishing.

The impression came out fantastic... but I thought to vamp it up - so smooched Celestial Copper metallic ink from Tsukneko over the raised surface and run it though the Cuttlebug again...  more interest added with blending Speckled Egg Distress Oxide over the raised surface.  Then arranged my stamped, watercoloured, fussy cut elements, on the panel and drew on the stems with Sharpie black marker  and attached to a green card.

Thanks for Everything

Lately I've been using my pencil more often to watercolour and I have used them on this card.... stamped the image with grey ink and after colouring, flicked a few spots over the panel.  I made up a square card and die cut the center out, then fixed the panel behind it, like a frame.  To finish I added a stamped sentiment.  I am playing along with Watercooler Wednesday WWC234 - Dawn's "All About Occasions" challenge ---- Thank You.  Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate it, happy card making.

The Road to a Friend's House is never Long

I did manager to find a house stamp in my stash to go along with this fabulous sentiment .. it's so true.  I stamped, embossed and coloured my little shack with Distress Inks then masked off a path and sponged that too - I tried to give it a rough finish with a stencil, sort of worked and then decided to add some mini flowers and butterflies.  I am playing along at CASolgy #254 - this weeks theme is House.  Thanks for taking a peek

Christmas is Love with all the Trimmings

Today I am casing Kimberly lovely Christmas wreath card.... over at Muse: Christmas Visions 61.
I love the colour combination - aqua, red and grey - so I used some die cut holly which I coloured with Distress Ink - Tumbled Glass and formed them into a circle. I added some pearls and matching ribbon and positioned this on an embossed background. To finish I layered the panel onto grey and added a foam mounted sentiment. Thanks for taking a peek

I've made a card for City Crafters Week 265 - tic TAG toe challenge.
I used a stencil and mist to create the background, then stamped and water coloured my image and used a die to fancy cut the top end with a larger blue layer underneath. A simple stamped sentiment, a few gems and a ribbon tie to finish my card.  Thanks for taking a peek

SOS #161: Eat Five A Day!

July- Cute & Fun Cards

When I saw the inspiration this week at Shopping Our Stash #161 - I was a bit concerned that I didn't have fruit or vege stamps, paper anything really BUT I looked...as found this bright designer paper that really I probably would struggle to use - so the mind starts to think what stamp image can I use...well I found this jar and amazing one of the tiny stamps with it was a strawberry...and more searching even found this appropriate sentiment...so I am happy with the final card with a mini bow tied around the jar. I'm also going to post the card to House of Cards... the inspiration this month is ***ADD A BOW*** and this week is Cute and Fun so I think my card fits this style. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Happy Birthday Fushia

This afternoon I'm trying out something different....came across this gorgeous card by Heather (tutorial video) at Make It Monday #173 where the techinique is No Outline Watercolour. - isn't it just gorgeous. So I've used a fushia shadow stamp and my Distress Inks to colour it and then mounted the panel on gorgeous homemade papers I found in my forgotten about stash. I tied some coloured twine and a mini bow above the Birthday sentiment. As I've used twine on my card I'm posting it to Seize the Birthday where the topping this month is string or twine. Today I find myself making another Christmas card for the stash...I cut up an snowflake embossed sheet and layered the squares onto an off white background to give it some depth. I stamped up part of a House Mouse stamp to give me the candle, coloured it in with silver and made a little flame with some die cut left scraps then added some stamped pine cones when I mounted it in the corner. The Noel sentiment is part of an embossed sheet so I highlighted it also with silver mounted it on gold metallic flag and finished off the card with a snowflake and gem. I've made the card for Festive Friday FFC#36 which is predominantly white with lots of elements to chose. I'm also going to post it to Christmas Cards All Year Round - July they are asking for non traditional colours and at City Crafters week 221 the theme is Christmas in July.  Pop over to their blogs to check out some awesome cards. SOS #160: Can't Put It Down (or Away)

Well I've decided I'm on a roll and why not post another card to the Shopping Our Stash #160 challenge.

Having decided my Adirondack Inks could be reused I had a go on water colour card with very dried up Ancient Page Inks...got some soft colour from sage, bordeaux and cobalt, no yellow so used my mustard seed Distress Ink...very lightly sprayed with water. Then I group stamped and masked some outline flower stamps and stems - I discovered with nothing to lose to try to rejuvenate the pads by spraying with my 'stamp cleaner' solution...that works too.... wow having fun today, move over distress inks these don't bleed as much. Finished the card with a blue embossed sentiment. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

SOS #160: Can't Put It Down (or Away)

Hi and happy Tuesday... I'm waiting to go to the airport to pick up hubby, so of course I'm at my desk making cards.... Don't know where this card came from... last night I was thinking about making a scene with a stamped image in the forefront. Anyway my can't put down for Shoppping Your Stash #160 - is my distress inks and die cuts - they've both been coming out lots lately. But this card isn't actually made with distress inks - this morning I wanted to know if my dried up, faded old Adirondack Inks would work like DIs if you sprayed water on them... guess what they do.

I sponged ink over some water colour cardstock kinda like a garden off to one side, then just sprayed on water...whooppie my pads are not juicy enough to stamp with but they'll be getting used for backgrounds now. When it was dry I added some "flowers" - just dabbed the corner of a paper scrap in the ink and filled in the flat colour areas and some drag lines for stems. Stamped on a simple sentiment and finished off with a die cut flower spray that I cut and re-positioned to fit the space. That was fun... Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Magical Christmas

 My card for Virginia's View challenge #5 - Die Cut, is a Christmas card featuring snowflakes. I die cut two sizes of snowflakes, used the smaller negative to add some texture paste flakes to my card top; I'd added some glitter to see if I could get them to sparkle (the photo  is terrible as it all looks much darker than it actually is and the snow flakes look cream). After they dried I created the snow bank and trees and then laid the wax die cuts on the page and sponged Distress Inks in blue and mauve, then I lightly spritzed it with Perfect Pearls, added some gems. I sponged the two die cut snowflakes with DI and spritzed them too and used a foam dot to give dimension. I stamped and embossed my sentiment and then layered the card with white and pale blue onto a white card base. I'm really happy with the result - it's soft and magical. I am also going to post my card to Christmas Cards All Year Round - for July the theme is non traditional colours.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

A quick card from me late yesterday, too dark to photograph....I'm posting it to the CASology week 104 challenge - the theme is Pet. Also to ColourQ #250 where I've opted to add one spot colour, pinkish terracotta, to the base black and white. Don't you just love this stamp - stamps up so well and I've had it for years.  My card is pretty straight forward CAS and I've added some scored lines for fun. We've recently adopted two kitties, they are brothers and thankfully they get on really well...so this card is appropriate for me. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Happy 90th Birthday

"More Than One Score" Challenge #6 - Colors of Your Country/Patriotic

I had a very special card to make for my father-in-law who is to celebrate his 90th birthday this weekend. So I decided on a card in a box. I redesigned the standard card to make it 3x2x7 inches and put three inner pieces...so there was lots of scoring. Then the whole thing was decorated with layered punched stars and some bling I bought and cut up to suit. I distress ink colour a mug of beer (which he loves) and added various sentiments. I used  oval dies to cut the 90 and hand cut the nine to shape. I'm really happy with the card and am glad it is being hand delivered as it just fits in an A4 envelope. I'm posting my card to the Sco-pal #6 challenge and am glad I had the Scor-pal to assist with keeping the card all square. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn
