Tied with Love

I'm posting my card to five challenges - firstly with Darnells 'Never Before Used Schtuff' - challenge #7; I love playing along with NBUS because it really does make you search out a stamp you bought because it appealed to you but then you find you have favourites and migrate to them often, for me it's florals.  Then over at the Simon Says Monday challenge - It's a Stitch Up; so this NBUS stamp fell right into the theme. At Simon Says Wednesday challenge - It's Hip to be Square; haven't made a square card for ages.  The theme at House of Cards - Use Twine or the Colour suggestions - the lovely colours appealed to me so I've used them as a guide for my colouring. And finally the Stamplorations CAS challenge for August - Anything Goes with a twist of Gold - After painting my stamped image with Distress Inks and layering on colour card stock I "Tied" gold thread across the corners and finished with a small stamped heart and die cut 'love' for the sentiment.  Thanks for taking a peek

Have a Lovely Birthday

This afternoon I've made a Birthday Card using the colour palette at House of Cards, inspired by this gorgeous selection of tropical fruit.  I have stamped and coloured my lily image and part cut it with a circle die and then fussy cut the rest. I mounted this on a black circle and then layer it all on three coordinating pieces of designer paper....that's what they are encouraging one to do over at Power Poppy July challenge  - Power & Spark - Hang Some Paper challenge. If you're like me I have plenty of DP...so why do I find it difficult to pick the right colours...takes me ages. Thanks for taking a peek

Thinking of You

At the moment I do need a few of these "Thinking of You" cards as there are a couple of family members who had a short stay in hospital.  Today I have been inspired by the photo at House of Cards - I used this posy from Inspired by Stamping  and water coloured it with bright colours and then added the frame really stood out for me on the photo.

Happy Birthday

I've made a male birthday card today as it's our SIL's birthday today.
Male colours are not one of my favourites...so I've had a play around with some unusual colours...like burnt gold and cinnamon and white....to create this Bokeh effect - I really like the photo Mandy shared here and tried to create something like that...(I must say here that the photo is not true and the card is really a lot softer in colour, much more muted) I used a silvery pearl card base and masked off a section at the bottom and inked the edge and then die cut Happy Birthday in twice and layered them to give a background highlight.
This month House of Cards challenge is to use the Bokeh technique.

Hello Friend

Here I'm back again today with another card for Happy Little Stampers April CAS - Stenciling challenge, I am also posting to House of Cards April challenge - Add a Butterfly.
I made the background panel with one of my new Kaisercraft stencils using sprays made with Moonglow Magical Mica pigment powders dissolved in water. I also die cut the butterfly and painted him too. Then stamped 'friend' on a white card strip, die cut 'hello' and attached it to the strip which I mounted with 3D tape onto the card. Finished the butterfly with a couple of beads.

A lovely cooler day to be creating at my desk today....I have made this card for the House Mouse and Friends HMFMC187 challenge - Love is in the Air, House of Cards - Love challenge, and The Paper Players #230 - Critter-tine.  I water coloured my furry friends image with Distress Inks and framed and layered it onto a white square card. Live every Moment

Today I've started out playing with my Distress Inks and created this watercolour background for a card for four challenges....
I tried something different this morning....First I stamped the swirly image several times in white and embossed in white. Then I dabbed some Distress Ink (peacock feathers, salty ocean) on my plastic sheet sprayed with water and inverted the card - giving me a lovely blue/green mix. Next I ironed off the embossing so I would have a flat surface to stamp my sentiment....well that didn't work too well - it's flat but left some squashed shiny swirls. but I figured I might as well see if the stamping would work.  Yes ok the black ink looked good, so I decided to add my own swirls with a fine silvery glitter pen, and some sequins..and now I'm really happy with my card.

Just for You

In my browsing yesterday I came across the Power Poppy blog and they are running some challenges over the week to celebrate World Card Making Day 2014 - challenge three  PPWCMD03...so I thought I'd join in for a chance to pick up some of their wonderful stamps. I've  made a PINK card to support the Breast Cancer fight....I'm a survivor and my sister-in-law has just finished her chemo and recovering from breast surgery...thinking of you Julie, this card is for you. The lovely designer paper inspired me to use this floral die cut a card maker, Joy sent me - I fussy cut some pink card to highlight the flowers and touched them up with some watercolour pencils. I sponged light pink around the center of the die cut doiley and stamped an Inspired by Stamping sentiment and finished with a bow. I'm also posting to House of Cards - with their October challenge to use Punches and Dies.   Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

You're Sweet

SOS #161: Eat Five A Day!

When I saw the inspiration this week at Shopping Our Stash #161 - I was a bit concerned that I didn't have fruit or vege stamps, paper anything really BUT I looked...as found this bright designer paper that really I probably would struggle to use - so the mind starts to think what stamp image can I use...well I found this jar and amazing one of the tiny stamps with it was a strawberry...and more searching even found this appropriate sentiment...so I am happy with the final card with a mini bow tied around the jar. I'm also going to post the card to House of Cards... the inspiration this month is ***ADD A BOW*** and this week is Cute and Fun so I think my card fits this style. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Thinking of You ... 2

Hello to all my visitors on this gorgeous Friday and finally I have made a card - it's been 2 weeks .
Never-Before-Used-Schtuff (Stamps, Dies, EFs, etc.)
I definitely wanted to play along at House of Cards and their End of Term Blog Hop...please click to their blog site and play along. I love the inspirational photo; the rustic kind of feel and of course I love flowers. I created the basket with a embossing folder, die cut the daisies, made and painted my chair with balsa wood and mounted my sentiment on cork...the balsa wood and cork are my 'never before used schtuff' for Darnells challenge #1 Anything Goes- who is encouraging one to use up 'schtuff' we have stashed away and forgotten about. I know my pile of paper and cards stock is huge and I have many 'bits' I've bought to use and then put aside...like my cork. I started a few years back with a New Years Resolution to 'stop saving bits for a special occasion card'... get on and use it now.
Hope you've had a great week and looking forward to a special weekend, Thanks for taking a  Robyn
PS My card was a hit...I love it too Top Winner

Happy Birthday to You

Here's my second card from last night... using the palette at House of Cards, May #1 - I think my card is shabby/vintage.
I'm using a background I made ages ago with my Distress Inks and Perfect Pearl Mist - I love the colours and it's been sitting on my desk for some time. The floral is a Chocolate Baroque silhouette stamp, with a sentiment by Inspired by Stamping. A couple of punched flowers with gem centers to finish off.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Best Wishes on Your Birthday

My second card this afternoon is using the layout at Freshly Made Sketches FS#128 and at House of Cards - Classic with a button.  Just a two tone card with a vintage feel...I found this lovely designer paper I over-stamped with a tiny script and teamed it with some ribbon and an embellishment I made with a button. Finished of the bottom panel with a sentiment from Inspired by Stamping.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Merry Christmas bag and tag

E is for Enclosed, = a box, a gift bag or something like that..

CH#38 * More than 3 Embellishments *

  Anything-But-A-Card

This afternoon I made this cute Christmas bag and tag - it's one of those gift bags you fold from a 12x12 sheet, so I selected a Christmas theme add some ribbon handles and recycled an old Christmas card parts for the whimsical tree and trimmed the sentiment to make a tag which I finished with ribbons and buttons.  This project fits with the ABC Christmas challenge 'E' is for Enclosed, also with Inspired by Stamping - Anything But a Card and adding some buttons for House of Cards March 'cute' project and Sparkles Christmas Challenge CH#38 - More than 3 embellishments

Happy Birrthday to You

This morning I finished off this bright, fun birthday card using the layout at Inspired by Stamping Card and Tag Challenge.  I really did have some fun yesterday making these lovely bright flowers with watercolour card and distress inks...(click here to go to my Wed post to see how I made them.) I made the background paper by "mopping up" the distress ink left after sponging my flowers, lightly stamped a text stamp.
I'm posting this card to four challenges
