Field Poppies

Earlier this month I had a friend over for a creative session.... Jean is from England and likes to paint with acrylics, so I was inspired to dabble a little further with my Brushos... she gave me lots of helpful hints as she tried her hand at Watercolouring too. I used watercolour card and also my stamps with Distress Inks to get my tree line and then painted in my flowers.  Then when they were all dry I filled in my foreground and sky. I am really a card maker but I am enjoying trying my hand a small artworks.
I am posting to ARTastic Challenge Blog   with the Criteria - Pops of Red and photo inspiration of Kenneth McQueen below.  Also to Happy Little Stampers Watercolour April challenge  Thanks for taking a peek

Happy Birthday

My second attempt today with watercolouring flowers...this one is totally free hand...you know puddled some colours...using my Twinkling H2Os again so there is a lovely glimmer to the deeper colours. A simple complimentary layer and sentiment to finish the card. I'm going to post my card to Virginia's View #8 - this month the challenge is Clean and Simple - my card feels fresh and happy. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

SOS #172: It's the Most Colorful Time Of The Year

My friend Vikki this afternoon challenged me to have a try at the watercolouring she saw on Shirley-Bee's blog  - you need to scroll down lots and see more beautiful cards. I have used Twinkling H2Os as the colour medium and roughly coloured the flower part of a stamp and then went over it with deeper colours and added more body and petals, then the stems. Used the old toothbrush to get the splatter and stamped a simple sentiment. I'm rapt and eager to have another go.  I'm posting this card to Shopping Our Stash WOW#172 as I've used beautiful autumn colours. Cheers and thanks for taking a peek Robyn

SOS #160: Can't Put It Down (or Away)

Hi and happy Tuesday... I'm waiting to go to the airport to pick up hubby, so of course I'm at my desk making cards.... Don't know where this card came from... last night I was thinking about making a scene with a stamped image in the forefront. Anyway my can't put down for Shoppping Your Stash #160 - is my distress inks and die cuts - they've both been coming out lots lately. But this card isn't actually made with distress inks - this morning I wanted to know if my dried up, faded old Adirondack Inks would work like DIs if you sprayed water on them... guess what they do.
I sponged ink over some water colour cardstock kinda like a garden off to one side, then just sprayed on water...whooppie my pads are not juicy enough to stamp with but they'll be getting used for backgrounds now. When it was dry I added some "flowers" - just dabbed the corner of a paper scrap in the ink and filled in the flat colour areas and some drag lines for stems. Stamped on a simple sentiment and finished off with a die cut flower spray that I cut and re-positioned to fit the space. That was fun... Thanks for taking a peek Robyn
