Our Beautiful World

HISTORICAL MONUMENTS
- is the theme I selected this week 71 at Our Beautiful World
Recently we took a long weekend break to visit somewhere new....which turned out to be a very small town on the Queensland central coast - Town of 1770.
A pretty weird name to give a place...so we find out the story.

Here is a cairn erected in 1926 to celebrate Lt James Cooks second landing on the shores of Australia
which occurred on 24th May 1770
This is a panoramic view from Bustard Head of the land and estuary they would have seen as they charted the coastline (click on the pic for a larger view)
I admire greatly these adventurers who sailed off into the unknown and to have found a new landmass and that to become my home is awesome.
Thanks for taking a peek, Robyn
Be sure to pop over to the other team members and players to see their monument photos and please join in and share your pics.
