What's On Your Workdesk, Wednesday??

worldwide woyww Hi and welcome to my desk this morning whre I am sharing it in all it's creative activity for Week 318 at What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday... an initiative started by our lovely hostess Julia, 6 years ago....want to find out more about this phenomena pop over to her blog, and maybe you'll find out you'd like to join in, it's fun, inspiring and addictive.
Anyway here's what is happening today....
This is how I photograph my cards... nothing flash, just get my Ott-Lite positioned and a coordinating background colour sheet and I'm in business. My white work pad comes in handy for this job, held up with a box of bits and pieces. My mid morning coffee mug there on the left next to a Christmas stamp waiting to be used. Behind that my ever growing stash of things I try out, cut out and don't use or embellishments - that all need to be put away. Far right my gems/pearls folder (see below) I store them in ATC pockets, easy to see and find quickly.  That's it for today, off to make an afternoon cuppa and do some desk peeping...thanks to those who visited last week and hope you all enjoy some crafting time this week
Cheers    ps.  a few people are commenting about my toothbrush which I didn't even see I'd photographed...it's for flicking ink on my cards...bit hit and miss really, I need practice.

  4. Now that's very sensible of course, I don't know where to start about how easy you're making that set up look! And then..the genius idea for storing the gems..you clever stick! And just so you know tomorrow when you're looking for it - your toothbrush is in one of your pen pots. (Spotted by Mr Dunnit as he came in to say goodbye...he often finds random things in the wrong places where I've drifted about in a daze, and most certainly couldn't understand why you'd have a toothbrush in your craft room...he's a 'tool for each job' kinda guy!!!

  5. Now I have found, thanks to you, the perfect use for The Fuse which I was not demonstrating but might be some time. Pockets to store your gems etc. Thanks. Sorry if you have no idea what my head is saying.
Thanks for the low down on your photography, I struggle so much with shadows that I always end up using the bed to take the shots. Will give your way a try - thanks Robyn.
Hope you have a lovely week.

  6. I was really interested to see how you photograph your cards. My effort is very hit and miss. I'm also doing Christmas cards at the moment! Is the toothbrush for stamp cleaning? I keep one in my craft room too... Barb #16 xx

  7. Shadows can be such a bother. Great set up. I use a couple of clamp on lights. The larger canvases are always a problem for me to photograph. Peg R 17

  9. Great ideas for photographing cards and also for the gem storage. I have mine in a box and it´s sometimes hard to find what I need/want. I might steal this idea:)

  10. Robyn that's a great idea for photographing your cards, something I need to improve on. My gems are in a plastic box so I can just take the box out and sift through for the right colour.

  15. Good photography set up. I've found that the Ott-light is excellent lighting for crafty pics. And I've used a 12x12 pad the same way, as backgrounds for cards & tags.

Thanks for the blog visit earlier.

  20. Always nice to see how other people photograph/video their work. Nice simple setup, and if it works, why make it more complicated? I love your little storage drawers with the pretty paper on them. As for spattering with a toothbrush, I am pretty hopeless at this and wonder where the spatters are all going - certainly not on the project - they are usually all over the desk and all over my stuff lol!! It's so hard to aim them!

Thanks for your lovely comment, and your words of wisdom - yes, definitely it's my body in control at the moment and I have to follow where it leads! It will come to an end eventually but in the meantime at least I can seek inspiration for when I get it back under control again lol!!

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  24. Thanks for showing us how you photograph your cards. It's quite a simple set-up, isn't it. I used to sell a lot on Ebay before moving to Spain and I also 'staged' my items as best I could. I even bought a 'bust' for clothes. It all helps.
Have a good week and thanks for popping by the other day. (sorry I'm late)'

  25. Thanks for the peek and lesson on how you photograph your cards. I don't photograph my cards to well. So, I will use some tips from you! :) I too, have a stash of dies I cut to try out new dies. I am glad to hear that others do that. I haven't tried that toothbrush technique, but have seen a tutorial where someone did this. Sorry for the late comment, but I am at my daughter's. #49
