Happiest of Birthdays

So do you have some quiet time for creating cards between the Christmas and New Years Festivities??  I'm finding snippets where I can relaxing at my desk and have started a few cards trying to get back some mojo... this one today is a quick and easy one for the Let's Squash It!!  challenge #3 ... using Die cuts with my Embossed background

Embossed a white panel and added a dark pink layer, then die cut a scalloped circle in pink and a white one using an eyelet die on which I stamped and clear embossed the sentiment.  To finish I die cut some "foliage" swirls in green and lastly added a tiny pink heart.

Merry Christmas to all my Blogland Friends

From my desk to yours
  a Very Merry Christmas
and Happy New Year

It's 8:30am here Christmas Eve morning - the air cons are already on as it is 32C (89F) outside
and I've a few free minutes before the girls arrive (as it's our day to look after them) and then the preparations start for our family Christmas Eve dinner tonight.
Thankfully I feel all the preps are done, the presents wrapped and it's wonderful that we can be together as a family.
Hopefully it is likewise at your home and I'm looking forward to sharing and seeing your beautiful cards.
Thanks so very much for being there for me and each other this past year
Huge hugs

Twofer cards using the same background stamp

Lately some of my blog card making friends have been sharing cards using Magical Micas... so I was tempted to get them out and play.
I positioned the stamp in the Misti and inked it up with Versamark...  first time I just sprinkled on the gold embossing powder to get a lovely rich image.  So while it was in the Misti inked and made another stamped image and this time used a brush to add powder to the ink, then lightly misted with water (right image)  there was too much powder and it made a mess... so I did it again and then used a brush to clear away the excess and misted even more lightly with water (left image) and I used this one to make my white card.

As you can imagine it's very shimmery - so hard to photograph - I used a pink and a green shade in the Micas.  Then die cut a white card frame and used a die cut label from my stash for the sentiment....stamped in black ink and clear embossed and finished off with a couple of gems.... I used Versamark around the label and a dusting of green Mica.

For my black card and the gold embossed stamped image I used pink, yellow and green Micas to watercolour the flower images... then die cut the panel and attached to a black card with foam sheet behind... and finished off with a stamped and gold embossed sentiment on black card.

I am playing along with We Love Chocolate Baroque December challenge - Anything Goes.... I used a CB stamp.

Happy Birthday

Having a rest from Christmas cards for a few weeks, so I'm building up my Birthday card stash... with one made today using a Stencil.  On a white card panel I placed the stencil in the bottom corner and used Distress Inks to bring up a pink flower, masking off the centre so I could make it yellow - I made a whoops that I couldn't disguise so lightly blended the yellow over more of the flower - I do like how it makes the flower 'glow'.  Then it was a bit dead still so I positioned the stencil again twice and filled the space.... not stopping there I used a tiny dots stamp in the same colour and added random interest... still further I used the sentiment stamp with the pale pink randomly stamping that too. I added highlights to the flower with coloured pencils, stamped the sentiment in DO picked raspberry and used Pearl Gold embossing powder .....  then a scattering of crystal gems to finish.

Poinsettia

Today I'm sharing a card I started ages ago  - actually the image is from my pre-stamped stash even older ... Stamped the poinsettia in red ink and clear embossed it.. ..then watercoloured with Distress Oxide ink and added detail and depth with coloured pencils.  I accidentally got a splatter of ink on the panel so added some more splats.  Then finished the card with layers of lime green and red card to frame it.

I am playing along with Double 'D' challenge - Poinsettia.

Happy Birthday

I embossed this folder twice on white card... trimmed one to a square and framed this with two layers of designer paper. Then I fussy cut one flower from the other panel and watercoloured this - adding some darker pink marker with clear crystal drops to the flower centre and attached this with foam tape... to finish I stamped and white embossed the sentiment on a matching green card strip and attached with foam tape too.

My other crafty love

Well there's not been much card making here of late but I've not been idle...
YEAHHHH!!!!
I finally finished my Moogly Afghan CAL (a fb group I joined early in the year to make an afghan square each fortnight so you have 24 at the end of the year to join as a rug).
I am so happy to complete a project... quietly I do have a few UFOs in the cupboard, but this time I was determined to finish...  I love most crafts and took up the crochet hook again last year during the cooler months - understanding that we do live in the tropics which are not always conducive to a wooly craft ....anyway I've made a couple of knee rugs and some market bags, now this bigger challenge.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.... hope you're able to keep happy and busy with your craft... hugs

Hello

My card for the November Card Chain Challenge was sent off to Linda in the USA.

I used an oval die to cut an aperture in white card panel and also foam sheet.  Then embossed white card with Bloom EF and swiped Versamark over the raised areas and sprinkle with white embossing powder and heat set. Used Distress Inks to watercolour the flowers and background and trimmed the image to fit behind the oval opening.  To finish I stamped and silver embossed the sentiment and added two die cut leaves, cut from metallic silver card and mounted to a silver card.
