April Card Chain Challenge Reveal

My card for the April Card Chain Challenge went off to Brenda in the UK.  I used the sketch, colours and rabbit theme.

I used a smooched background from my stash which just so happened to have orange and slate colours and then used an embossing folder to create the pattern.... inking it with Distress Oxide weathered wood and pressing it over the panel.  Then I embossed a white card panel with the same EF.  I stamped, watercoloured and fussy cut the rabbit in his flowerpot and to help his stand out added a die cut circle... then finished off with a stamped sentiment.

I decided on a Christmas card using lots of bits from my stash and so I could join in with the

Rudolph Days Christmas challenge for April

and I used the Sketch from Just Add Ink challenge #748

and it fits in beautifully with Darnells IDEAS prompt  A = Anything Goes

More Bauble Christmas cards

My brain sure does come up with some "interesting" ideas at times ---

Group of Seven Cardmakers product theme this month is Embossing Paste and I enjoyed the effects with my first purple card, so I came up with the idea to add some patterned texture to my latest fad with Christmas Baubles.

I mixed up some Impasto Medium with Gold Pearl Powdered Pigment and searched through my stencils to find some swirly patterns.  Then using a mask I added the paste to my dry watercoloured baubles.

On my first card I masked the bauble and added some stamped foliage, and stamped pearl gold embossed sentiment and after I made a mess of the hanging topper, I covered it over with a die cut section of a fancy edge.... I also made a mess of the bottom when I didn't move the card away from my work area when I decided to add splatters to my second card.

On my second card - which resulted from the fact I mixed up too much embossing paste, I just added a stamped embossed sentiment and the after thought of some splatters (I'll have to practice these because I got them everywhere and more blobs than I would have liked) and drew on the hanging topper with a gold gel pen

I am also joining Darnell with her NBUS April challenge - my NBUS is the Impasto Medium to make embossing paste and as it's the April Fools Big Fat Boo Boo month - my cards fit that very well'.

Thinking of You

Today I'm sharing a double embossed card.... dry embossed and heat embossed

As it is week 3 of Darnells IDEAS prompt - E = Embossing

and
I'm also joining the Inspiration at Just Add Ink challenge #747 --- using the flowers, and colours as inspiration

I used a narrow embossing folder to emboss as strip along the side of a white panel.  Stamped and watercoloured my Gerbera image and fussy cut them. Found some matching yellow striped patterned paper to highlight the flowers and added a strip of silver washi tape and finished off with a stamped silver embossed sentiment on lemon card and die cut with scalloped oval shape.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog, have a wonderful day,   Cheers Robyn

Some swirling around....

 ..... with some Stencils.

I made my first floral card with the technique from Just Add Ink challenge #746  - Just Add Swirls...

using a stencil to blend yellow and green Distress Inks on a strip of white card... teamed this with some matching gold card with a thin strip of green

and finished off with a watercoloured die cut flower and stamped sentiment

My second card is way different from my usual florals.... and using the product prompt from the Group of Seven Cardmakers - Embossing Paste

using another swirly stencil to blend Wilted Violet Distress Ink over the whole white panel

when this was dry I replaced the stencil a little off center and swiped a mixture of Wilted Violet DI and Impasto Medium over the whole stencil again.

I was pretty happy with the effect when it all dried, then finished off the card with a stamped sentiment on a stitched die cut circle.

AND  ..   It's week 2 of Darnells IDEAS prompt which is D = Dies

Thanks for stopping by my blog, have a Wonderful Easter -- wishing you Peace and Enjoy some family time,      Cheers Robyn

Poinsettias for Christmas

Make two while you're at it... so I did....  die cut two Poinsettia flowers and watercoloured them with Twinkling H2Os and cut the leaves from matt metallic card.  Teamed the flowers up with a floral patterned paper and then out came those very Neglected Tag Dies (you know the ones we just had to have back in the early days and then you've hardly every used them) and stamped and embossed on the sentiments.

I'm joining the challenge at Christmas Kickstart challenge #97 - Positively Poinsettias

A coupla Birthday cards.....

Bit late getting to create at my desk this week, as the rain has eased off and even today we have mostly blue skies, so I've been spending some time in the garden - it's so sodden and the weeds are growing faster than my plants... never mind, it's life and I'm thankful we don't live further west where there are devasting floods.

But I've made two cards today... this first one is for the Just Add Ink challenge #744 - the two I've chosen are flowers and shimmer.  I die cut the flower and water coloured it with my Twinkling H2Os and add a couple of die cut leaves from matt shimmer card and then the sentiment cut from silvery holographic card... I also gave the background patterned paper a  spritz with Mister Huey's Shine mist.

My second card is an attempt to use Distress Oxides with a stencil... as it's week 5 for
I blended Milled Lavender, Seedless Preserves and Dusty Concord to create the background and after it dried off a bit, again used the Dusty Concord DO over a stencil....  well I didn't expect it turn out like this -  the Dusty Concord over the other colours dried off to look more like a blueish purple... anyway I like it and finished off the card with a gold embossed sentiment.

Card Chain Challenge March Reveal

A slightly different card for my March Card Chain Challenge card that was sent across the seas to Daja in Germany....  using a quirky birds stamp instead of my usual flowers.

I managed to use the sketch - sort of, also the colours - black, white and red. I used the friendship theme 'Hello' and the background paper suggest Africa and stripes of a zebra.  Then the use of felt for my bird to stand on and the bird was actually stamped a number of times and fussy cut so I could layer them for his wings and boots.

Theme Options: Stripes / Africa / Friendship
Product / Technique Options:  Felt / Layers
Thanks for stopping by my blog, have a wonderful creative month

Birds and Baubles

Some fun on my desk this week with BIRDS being the theme at a number of challenges and as my friend recently lent me her quirky bird stamps (Ranger Dylusions) I just had to use them...

Darnells IDEAS prompt this week is A = Anything Goes

Triple B March challenge  - have a lovely mood board in Greens for their Birds, Blooms & Butterflies

Just Us Girls challenge #767 - have a Green/White and butterflies theme

Double D challenge - is also Birds

Stamped and silver embossed my two birds and fussy cut them out, then watercoloured with my Twinkling H2Os... still on my desk from last week... I made up extra wings so I could attach them with double sided foam tape.  On my first card I embossed a piece of patterned paper and them lightly added green distress ink on the raised area and finished off this card with a die cut butterfly and sentiment.

On my second card I embossed white card with a leafy EF and then fussy cut around the leaves to create a border across the bottom of a piece of pattern paper and finished with the stamped sentiment from the same set.   I am joining in the challenge for March at Can You Handle the Pressure

My next two cards are for Christmas.. make one - you might as well make two and I'm using the sketch at Just Add Ink challenge #743
also it's end of the month a Rudolph Days Christmas challenge

I've made a few of these bauble cards for my Christmas stash so far this year... they're fun and easy to make.   This time I stamped on a fit of foliage to hang the baubles... these are made with the top of a small container dipped in Distress Ink and loosely watercoloured, then add a hanger and thread with sparkly gel pen.

Well with the very wet, rainy weather we're having (so far over 2600 mm this year - that's 3 months - so we've broken all sorts of rain records) and lots of time inside, I've also managed to finish a crocheted lap-rug, made with squares joined together and a fancy border to finish
