Cheery Sunflower cards

This month over at Group of Cardmakers they are playing with Dies..... Creating cards with Inlaid Diecutting technique

So I've had lots of fun with my large Sunflower die
Created this 'stained glass' effect using black card first and then yellow and red to fill in the petals and attached to a lovely green patterned paper

And then of course you're left with the yellow card die cut of the large sunflower, so I trimmed off the extra flowers and leaves and die cut it again in darker yellow for the petals and finished it off with a sentiment for a friend whose had surgery and used a soft green background.

Then of course you've again got the darker yellow die cut flower, so I stopped myself and just attached this outline to a blue card with a stamped sentiment.

I'm also playing along with Darnell's weekly IDEAS prompt...  D = Dies
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog.... have a wonderful day, Cheers Robyn

Adding to my Christmas card stash

I have a smile on my face and satisfaction that I've been busy today creating some more Christmas cards - feels good.

I played around with my cardboard toilet rolls and made some more ornament cards... these are so fun and easy...  then I grabbed a paper cup and made some larger ornaments.... the Distress Ink moves and pools and I try not to be too finicking where I pull the colours.

It's week 1 for Darnells IDEAS prompt I = Ink

Then I got carried away with my dies and made three more cards. - featuring leaves for the

I die cut some different Christmas foliage from shades of green card and arranged them around the gold circles and sentiments.      It's late afternoon and the photos are awful ---  I've used some shiny gold and red card for the circles and sentiments on the first two and then some gold embossing for the sentiment on the third.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.... have a wonderful day and hope you've been inspired, Cheers Robyn

Christmas cards

It's been a busy month here with birthdays, fathers' day, and a short relaxing few days away, but today I've managed to finish off a few cards I had started --- especially a couple for Jo's

Christmas Kickstart #102 - Santa in September

I have these two lovely old Santa wood mounted stamps and often I find them hard to stamp and make attractive... but for these I stamped them in Grey Versafine ink and used my Distress Inks to watercolour parts... and I do like how they've come out.

and one final card...  because yes I'm way behind with my Christmas card stash.. and back to using ornaments to decorate the card..   This one is a die cut ornament backed with shiny red card and hanging from some die cut Christmas foliage.
and joining in with Rudolph Days September challenge

Thanks for stopping by my blog... have a wonderful day and I'll see you next month

Using Dies to Emboss

Playing around with my dies to create embossed frames on these two card

It's 'E' for embossing at Darnell's IDEAS prompt     and

at Group of Cardamkers the technique is 'Embossing with Dies'

- the first is actually a die frame with a matching die to cut out the center... I trimmed the card and punch rounded the corners.. Used a die to cut my flowers and water coloured them with Distress Inks, cut the stems from green card that matched the patterned paper background... finished off the card with a blank stamped and clear embossed sentiment  (haven't done that for a while, I remember when everything was embossed)

For my Christmas card I used two fancy edge large dies to create the frame and added some die cuts --- Cut the sentiment from matt metallic card and the outline of the bauble in white and the inlaid parts from purple and red glitter card

Decorative Dies

Trying hard to get back my mojo... so I've had some fun with Dies today

I've three challenges to join

Just Us Girls - Die week #791

Darnells IDEAS prompt - "D" for Dies

Group of Cardmakers are using Dies to create Embossing

I have a set of wavy edge border dies --- so after I die embossed and cut one from white card to attach to the front of a card, I used the offcut and embossed it with a different edge and quickly I had two cards started.
For my first card I blended yellow Distress Ink behind the wavy edge to create a spotlight to display my favorite die cut daisy... watercoloured with Distress Inks, and to finish stamped on a sentiment

My second card had a simply die embossed edge and thinking to add a block of colour I used some aqua blue mulberry paper flecked with gold threads.... which made me think to use some die cut gold leaves.  I also die cut a butterfly from glittery aqua card and added some matching gems... used these also to help hide the dobs of glue to hold down the mulberry paper... lastly a die cut 'smile' from my stash to finish.

Best Birthday Wishes

Bit distracted with other projects lately but very happy to have sat down at my desk yesterday with inspiration from friends to try something different and make a card - hoping it keeps going as it's hubby's birthday this week and I've a CCC card to get in the post too.

Group of Cardmakers have an impressive technique using your dies to create an embossing....  so I thought of these Sizzix corner dies I have and it worked up really nicely.

Then I used a new layered floral die to cut out the flower on white card and using Distress Inks to watercolour it....much nicer than just cut from coloured card as you can get depth.... and it's "I" for Inks with Darnells weekly IDEAS prompt.

Thanks so much for stopping by, have a wonderful weekend,
Cheers Robyn

More Christmas Baubles

Finished off a couple of Christmas cards this morning... both featuring Christmas Baubles  ...  and using the Weekly IDEAS prompt from Darnell... it's "E" - Embossing

My first card features Dry Embossing... I die cut a bauble and using part of an embossing folder embossed the poinsettia - then mixing some pearl powdered pigment to my pink distress ink - painted the image leaving the flower white..  gold painted the centers and hanger.  To finish I attached my embossed background to a pink card layer onto a white card and added some foliage and string.

For my next card I used the die cut baubles and painted them too with sparkly pink... then I white heat embossed some poinsettia flowers and attached them to green patterned paper with silver strings and added a silver heat embossed sentiment to a white card before attaching the panel.

Christmas Wreaths

Busy with my dies today making wreath cards adding a couple more cards to add to my Christmas stash...

My first was quite easy as I used a holly wreath die and all I needed to do was die cut the berries again in red and the little bow in gold and attach them - glitzed up with some glitter glue and attached to an embossed background, then finished with a die cut sentiment...  the die is from my NBUS stash so I'm joining in the fun at NBUS #77.

My second card took a bit longer with me die cutting various Christmas foliage and smooching them in green Distress Inks, also some red berries...  then the tricky part trying to arrange them in a circle shape and gluing them down without messing up the plan... then it all looked a bit sparce, so I stamped on a few extra leaves and finished with a gold die cut sentiment and attached the panel to a green card.

And also with Darnell's weekly IDEAS prompt - second week 'D' for Dies.

Watercolouring with Distress Oxide inks

Hello and thanks for stopping by my blog...   today I've 3 cards to share using a quick and easy watercolour technique....

.....you simply ink your stamp with Distress Oxide inks, stamp it, and then with a wet brush pull the colours from the stamped outline.... and these cards fit perfectly with

Darnell's IDEAS weekly prompt... 'I' = Inks/Colour Mediums

A floral birthday card - stamped and watercoloured, die cut with oval shapes and attached to a dry embossed card - finished with a stamped and white embossed sentiment.

Two Christmas cards featuring Holly sprigs and stamped embossed sentiments
