I decided to join Elizabeth with her Second on the 2nd sharing....after I read her WOYWW post this week.
Not knowing where to start I just went back in my blog to see what I'd been posting on those this July day years back. When I got to 2012 I wondered why I hadn't done anything that whole week. And on checking I realized I was back in my home town to attend my dads funeral. My the time flies - but I do love this photo of him and mum.
RIP Dad

What a wonderful tribute to your father, and even now, you have kept his memory alive by sharing him with all of us. Thank you for joining us at Second on the 2nd, and I am sure your father is smiling right now, too.

Susi
Beautiful photo of your parents.
ReplyDeleteI lost my father in March and it is heartbreaking.
I know they say time is a healer it just doesn't feel like it at the moment.
Glad you joined us at Second on the 2nd. What a lovely looking couple. I hope you have some wonderful memories of times spent with your father.

Oh I have to tell you my heart skipped a beat when I saw the name and beautiful header photo on your blog Robyn.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow we will visit the National Aquatic Gardens just outside of Washington DC to check on the Loti and water lilies. It is something we look forward to very much.

A sad memory Robyn but what a lovely photo of your special Dad.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs,

I love your photo Robyn - you're right about time flying - my Mum died 7 years ago this December (on the same day as my Dad died 4 years earlier) and although the memories are still strong so much has happened since then! I love what Susi says! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Elizabeth's Second Look on the 2nd--a very nice tribute to your Dad--that's a lovely photo of your parents. I lost my Mom on July 28, 2003, exactly on month after her birthday.
ReplyDeleteA lovely photo of your parents ♥ I totally agree with how quickly time rushes by these days.
ReplyDeleteRobyn, what a lovely photo of your parents. It made me think very fondly of my dear Dad who died 18 months ago - you can see his photo on my RH side bar on my blog. I miss him so much! I can't believe he's been gone so long now. I particularly feel for Anyoldcraft, and any others, for whom the loss of a loved one is so recent and so raw - hang in there, and the open wound will eventually heal to a scar that you can look at without pain, and remember the good times. So many of us on here have been prompted to remember and share the loss of a parent, and it's as if your prompt has caused a joint remembrance for us all, Robyn! Thank you for that.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comment and your kind words and thoughts, and good wishes for my chemo. I saw the oncologist today and she's reducing the dose by 10 percent which should help the effects not to be quite so devastating. Next treatment tomorrow. Not looking forward to it but we have to forge ahead, and remember that each one done is one less to do!! So glad you like my masterboard. When I'm feeling disciplined I always clean off my brushes and stamps onto a piece of scratch paper that eventually turns into a background or masterboard, and when I'm not feeling disciplined I keep all my pieces of kitchen paper used for lazy mopping up (I try to have several on the go for different colour schemes so they don't all end up looking like mud!) to tear up and use for collaging and layering or forming into "hand-made paper" - great with the addition of some gilding flakes or fibres or whatever, with gel medium. Shoshi's not one to waste stuff! I keep all my baby wipes too. Some baby wipes melt beautifully like Tyvek. No need to waste anything, is there! It always bugs me when I watch Youtube videos and people mop up all that delicious ink or paint with kitchen paper that then goes straight in the bin! And all the paint people waste in their water pots too... Lol!
