Welcome to the May CAS Stencil challenge
and the technique this month is Stenciling over Coloured Background.
Too much dithering and so many ideas for this challenge.... where to start and you should pop over to the blog because the design team have so many fabulous ideas and cards.
For my card today I've gone simple.... just sponged some Distress Oxide ink - Peacock Feathers across one edge of my panel and using a foliage stencil in two sizes sponged using the same ink also darker shade in Chipped Sapphire.
I have a stash of these frames from when I die cut a panel from A5 card and they come in handy - this one had a stitched finish to the edge, then used it to help position my stamped sentiment. To finish the card I chose two die cut fronds cut from a DI smooched scrap and added some blobs of crystal drops to the ends.
Both cards are brilliant, Robyn!! Love the sponged background with the tone-on-tone stamping and then a darker version to add interest and a sense of depth. Gorgeous colours together. I do use white framing for a lot of my cards ... it gives such a beautiful finished look Your bright coloured fronds are unexpected and add gorgeous punch of colour in the corner. Your second card is wonderful ... love all that glorious white space which makes the colours really pop. Great work Robyn!! xx
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards, Robyn, so serene. I like how you used the stencil over the sponged card and the crystal glaze on your die-cut.
ReplyDeleteRobyn, love the partial page sponging with the stenciling over it. Such a cool design technique.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful CAS card design with your sponged corner and pretty stenciled leaves, Robyn. Your card will make the day beautiful for a friend. So pleased that you shared your card with your leftovers too. Both cards are gorgeous designs. TFS Hugs..Nancy
ReplyDeleteso beautiful Robyn, simplicity is sometimes the best :)
ReplyDeleteLove both of these cards Robyn!
ReplyDeleteI love both designs, Robyn! The foliage is so pretty with the die cut leaves and as an underwater scene!
ReplyDeleteLovely cards Robyn... like the splash of pink on the first but for me the second one edges it!
ReplyDeleteOh now I wish I'd seen your blended panels before I made my card, Robyn! You girls do know how to honor that white space - leaving a bit of white instead of blending the entire panel is such a smart look - now I guess I'll just have to try again!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous times TWO!
