Happy Birthday

Using pigment powders with your stencils...
lots of way to combine these - mixed with texture paste, sponged using Versamark,
mixed with water and used as a spray/mist.

This stenciled background panel came about because I was experimenting with brayering Versamark over my stencil (the stencil plastic is too thick and it didn't work) but the stencil had heaps of Versamark on the top side so I flipped it onto white card and brayered again - and I really smiled as the pattern appeared as I brushed on Brilliant Gold Pearl Ex - the photo doesn't capture it very well.  I thought it looked like latticework so teamed it up with two die cut dandelion stems cut from bright gold metallic paper and old gold metallic paper.  I inked and heat embossed the edge of the stenciled panel with gold EP.  I found this fawn colored metallic card in my stash, attached my panel with foam sheet and die cut my sentiment from the old gold paper and again in white card to layer it up.
Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate it, and we'd love for you to join in with the challenge at CAS Stencil....pop over to the blog (here) and check out the DT cards

  2. Isn't it great when you are experimenting and find a whole new way to do something??!! This looks beautiful, Robyn! I love the idea that you used the brayer to the upside-down stencil to get an even pressure. The perfect pearls looks amazing with this beautiful design for the background. Gorgeous card with your gold flowers and lovely sentiment. xx

  4. Don't you just love it when you find a new way of using something.
Your stenciled background looks so delicate, the shimmer is really pretty and looks great behind your die cut flowers. Thanks for the tip about using the brayer xx

  5. Robyn, this is exquisite!!! I hadn't thought of playing along - as I only have purple perfect pearls and I couldn't bring myself to use it - but this delicate presentation of pearls has me rethinking that decision! Well done, YOU!!

  7. So clever of you Robyn to flip your stencil over and save all that Versamark and get a gorgeous gold Pearl-Ex stenciled image:-) Beautiful gold die cut flowers and Gold heat embossed sentiment too. Your design would make an elegant Wedding or Anniversary card too...Hugs...Nancy

  8. How nice that something so good came out of something not quite working. Funny how that happens. This card is lovely, in addition to the background I really like the gold embossing on the edge and the die cut xx
