CAS Watercolour February challenge

Time for a new challenge at
with our lovely Marcia hosting a colour theme:

RED & BLACK

Such striking colours together and initially leaving me with a creative block...

I don't really have any very special Watercolour Cardstock, but my friend Vikki gave me a few sheets to try out and the Canson 300gsm worked beautifully with my most favourite stamp at the moment.  Using my Misti I positioned the stamp over the card panel and spritzed the card with water, inked my stamp with red DI and stamped the image -- it worked beautifully with just enough water to blur the outline... I let it spread a tiny bit then carefully dabbed off the excess and let it dry.  Then I re-inked the stamp (still in place in the Misti) and re-stamped the image which re-highlighted the outlines.  When that dried I added some detail and depth with a sharp black coloured pencil.
To finish the card I added a fine black card layer to frame it on a deep red card and stamped the sentiment and white embossed it on a scrap of black card and attached this with foam tape.

I am also playing along with Penny Black Saturday Challenge February - Love is in the Air.

Hope you are inspired to pop on over to the CAS Watercolour blog and check out our guest designer Michelle's fabulous card and the wonderful cards created by the design team.
Thanks for stopping by my blog ---   have a Happy Day

  4. Amazing work Robyn! I have this stamp and have been stumped by it, honestly. You have done incredible work. The flowers are gorgeous. Adding the simple black fine lining adds so much. Perfect framing and sentiment banner. xx

  5. What a gorgeous stamp and wonderful watercoloring technique used on this Robyn! The blooms look so feathery and you touched them up nicely with your thin black pen and frame! The black strip sentiment is perfect along the bottom! xx

  7. Beautiful artsy watercolored flowers, Robyn. TFS your detailed description of your watercolor technique using your MISTI:-) It worked great! Love your very thin black frame and your wider red cardstock frame. The sentiment stamped and heat embossed with white on black cardstock really pops and adds just enough black to contrast with the red flowers. TFS my friend. Hugs..Nancy

  9. Hi Robyn! I just love the artistic 'bloom' you've achieved by spritzing your stamp - and what a beauty that is! It's no wonder it is your current favorite! Gorgeous Red & Black card … which had me head-scratching, too! xx

  10. WOW!! This card is definitely a STUNNER Robyn and I too can see why you love this PB stamp! I love the idea of how you stamped the first time with water and the 2nd time with just the ink to give some more definition to the flowers, and also the hint of black colored pencil for some subtle shading too! This truly is a work of art and I just LOVE it! Lovely, lovely card my friend!! :0)
