What's On Your Workdesk, Wednesday?

Hi there WOYWW #250 peeper...if you're a visitor and already lost regards a desk photo and snooping you'd best pop over to Julias blog and check out what it's all about.  Firstly thank you everyone for visiting and leaving comments - I enjoying reading about other crafty peoples lives.
About my desk...well I'm in here most days; pretty much as soon as I do the bare minimum chores and shower and hubby leaves for work but as I'm in Australia our Wednesday starts way ahead of all you others...so this morning I'm in here, check my emails and  already got the place tidied up from my recent playing with distress inks and stamps (see two cards centre front - now finished here) and before you know it it's 10:30 and I'm still in my morning clothes before my shower - so off I went, all done come back with a coffee, takes some photos and finish off my cards while I wait for the rest of the world to wake up.  On my desk on the left are some Christmas cards ready to be glued, a two tone green card for a challenge, behind my mug and water glass two new sets of cheapie stamps, then further to the right the stamps I'm using to create my watercolour cards. My second pic is of my card stock drawers, a friend pointed these out to me last year and I have sorted my stock by colour and 3 sizes...tiny scraps, cut sheets and full 12x12 sheets...I like using up my scraps. You can just see my trusty guillotine on the side bench - it would have to be about 18 years old. Enough now I'm off to check out some crafty desks...cheers and have a great week Robyn

  1. My cutter makes yours look like a toddler. I swear, I think mine is about 30 years old. I got it second hand from a lady who was getting rid of her crafting supplies.

I sure enjoyed spending time with you this morning. It was fun seeing how you start your day before the rest of us (grin). Happy WOYWW from #2.

  5. Hi Robyn Phew that was quite a big hop but I seem to have landed without disturbing your fab cards! Looks like a lovely sunny day over there - We are a bit sunny and a bit cloudy today so far! I store all my scraps in hanging file folders but I do go through them now and again to downsize my collection ;-) Have a great week and happy WOYWW to you from Helen 61 x

  8. Those drawers are the way to go for storing papers. I tend to buy a lot of the scrapbook paper pads though, and like to keep the pad together since all the papers tend to go to together. I work during the week, but love to spend all the rest of my time crafting. Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #21

  9. I really like your cards, Robyn - it is such an effective technique - well done you for having a go! Those paper drawers are just great - I really do need to do some sorting - but..... never get around to it; too busy doing everything else. Thanks for visiting and for your comments. What a nightmare scenario with all those dresses. We made everything for both our daughters' weddings, too. They got married 13 weeks apart. Two separate folders, two piles of fabric, two lots of colourways.... yes, you got the picture - utter chaos! I put the sewing machine away three weeks before Joy's wedding - and - er - three DAYS before Ruth's!!!!!!! You will get to see the completed dresses - but only after the events, I'm afraid - so rather a long time to wait. I have a feeling the time will appear to go rather fast here though!
Take care - and I like the other cards on your desk too.

  14. I like the thought that you live in tomorrow from me! You're like in my future! Your desk looks like a fun place to play, so much great stuff on hand. I love those paper bins. I find that it really helps the creativity to have your paper sorted out in some form or another. I think having them sorted by color AND size is an added bonus.

  23. Great post. Love all the light and how bright your room seems. Love the storage. Is that file folders of stamps on your desk? Really like the storage of all the papers. I have seen files that would hold 8 1/2" x 11" papers and card but not the 12x12. Going to look into that tomorrow. Thanks for sharing and thanks for stopping by my desk for a visit. Vickie #43

  29. It is like belonging to a world wide craft club, being part of WOYWW, isn't it? I love the fun, friendship and support from people who I do consider my friends now. Do you find that you immediately click with some but others ..well, not much so? Bit like life really, I suppose...you can't explain why someone really connects with you and others leave you cold! I love it anyway and would very much like to come and play in your lovely craft room one day!! Get the kettle on!!!

  33. Thanks so much for your kind visits! I am loving how you store your papers. Very neat and orderly (never thought to put scraps in the color, awesome idea as end up digging through a box of scraps!). Your flower cards in the post below are so amazing!Love the soft look and the shadows. My calligraphy is off to a bad start broke two nibs just loading up the pens!

  34. Ah, the dreaded card and scraps, I tend to buy only 8.5" x 11" because it's easier to store! Your desk looks ready for action and nice and tidy too. Love the card you posted today (Thursday my time, and also the two watercolour cards. I really like the black on the first one, it bled beautifully and really makes the flower stand out.

  43. Thank you for your visit this week, Robyn. I am sorry it has taken me so long to get back to visit you in return. This week has been manic and I have been playing catch up all week. It has been the big craft show at the NEC nearby - the only big show within reasonable distance. I spent the whole day there on Thursday and came back with loads of lovely goodies to show next Wednesday, and a mind buzzing with new ideas. By the way, it is sort of my desk that I showed this week. It is the desk down in the living roo with the main computer on, and I do spend a lot of time working here too, especially in the evening. I don't blog in my craft room. any time up there is spent actually crafting or trying to tidy up ready for the next session. I don't have a very good track record with cutters, whether guillotine or roller cutters. I do have a fantastic guillotine right now, which seems to be lasting well. I still have all the others I have bought over the years or acquired, so I will probably set up a cutter museum at some stage in the future. Hope you have a good week. xx Maggie #76
