Our Beautiful World,Week 43 - This week Ros has suggested "Transport" as the theme for our photos.
This is a 1974 (scanned) black and white photo of our first car...
an old 1947 Ford V8 Pilot....here in this photo all shiny and restored - hubby and myself with sister-in-law (right) (Stephen's brother took the photo) having a picnic in the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria, Australia. Sadly we no longer own it,.
The car meant a lot to me as it belonged to my grandfather, who had the pedals modified as he was a amputee from Gallipoli. Leather interior, rear window roller blind, wind out windscreen and in excellent condition as the grandfather only ever drove is short distances to the town and back over 25 odd years.
My brother first decided to restore it after it sat in my dad garage for some time after his dad passed but it continued to sit for another year before I begged dad to let us have it. This is what it looked like when we took it on - engine out, sitting in the weather in a sorry condition.
Sorry for the poor photos, just realized they're more than 40 years old but I enjoyed sharing them and the story.
Thanks for taking a peek and please join in the fun at Our Beautiful World
