Watercolours are definitely a favourite of mine - I love to colour in with them and to make interesting backgrounds... oh, there's going to be a pile of them this month. Happily I've found some card that really works with lots of water - so for this one I used a water wash and them worked from both ends adding colour and then they mixed in the middle with a kind of tree top which prompted me to use the birds on a line stamp. Looked a bit dead so I coloured the breasts and then used a stitched die cut to frame the image and lastly added a stamped sentiment. I am playing along this month at CAS Mix Up - Stamping, Watercolour Wash and my choice - a die cut. Thanks for taking a peek
I love how the birds work with your beautiful watercolour wash background, Robyn. It definitely does look like tree tops. Especially love the way you've framed with this the frame being slightly inside the watercoloured area. Awesome design feature!! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!
ReplyDeleteRobyn, Loving this one. All the House Martins, Swifts and Swallows have left the village now, for the warmer climate of Africa. Love seeing them coming back for the summer.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a nice day. Sue

ReplyDeleteHi Robyn, I might be a bit late commenting on this card, but I really like the way you have suggested the trees etc in the background. I'm in Australia too and I was wondering what watercolour paper you used and where you got it from? I find it either prohibitively expensive or
ReplyDeletecheap and nasty, there does not seem to be a happy medium.Thanks.......
