A new month already and some more monthly challenges to be inspired.... my first one is for a left handed person - lol, no really I finished it all off before I realized I'd attached it all to the wrong side...so I'll cut it off and trim it to fit another card base.
I'm playing along with the July CAS Watercolour challenge - 'Splash Watercolouring'. I created my background strip with Distress Inks - using a loaded paint brush to flick colour blobs of Abandoned Coral, Fossilized Amber and Twisted Citron onto a plastic sheet and then laying the white card onto this- the bigger blobs spread and joined up but there are lots of small splashes of colour. Then I stamped my poppy image, watercoloured it with DI and fussy cut it out. To finish I added a matching card strip and used foam tape to add depth. Finally stamped my sentiment on a die cut stitched oval.
I am also playing along with Watercooler Wednesday WWC177 - Charlotte's Feminine "Anything Goes" challenge. Thanks for visiting and enjoy your week
I have never tried making splashes with your technique..cool! I love your splashes behind your beautifully watercolored flowers. TFS Robyn and so pleased you joined us at CAS Watercolour. I think we have all done that at some time during our years of stamping:-)
ReplyDeleteOh Robyn, I've done that before but hadn't thought that it might appeal to "lefties". Love that you shared your "oops!" What a wonderful card! I love the background splashes and the way you've shared how you've created them. Keeping them to a single strip towards the left of the card keeps it clean and simple but also adds elegance to your creation. Great colouring on those wonderful blooms! I love poppies and you've brought these to life. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely splash background, Robyn! The colors are perfect for your gorgeous flowers! How often have I made a "left handed" card! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at CAS Watercolour!
ReplyDeleteLOL!! I have done this before too Robyn. The only difference is I usually make top folding cards, so my cards end up being upside-down! :) I LOVE that splashed strip that you've made. And I like the method you used to create it. Will have to give that a try. Your flowers are gorgeous ... and what patience you have to fussy-cut this intricate image. Beautiful card Robyn. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Watercolour! xx
