The theme for the March challenge #14 at Twofer Card Challenge is - Balloons
I thought I might go with Hot Air Balloons and have created a birthday card and a "Hi" card.
I used stencils and Distress Oxide inks to sponge in my background. Then stamped and used DO to watercolour my Hot Air Balloons and fussy cut them out. To finish I stamped on my sentiment and used foam tape to attach my balloons.
For my second card I sponged in my blue background using DO inks and masking off the bottom which I then reversed the mask and dragged red and orange DO pads across to form the 'table'. I used a stamp to add a diamond pattern - sort of eastern oriental, on which to display my "Genie Lamp" - I watercoloured the hot air balloon, fussy cut it and then added Dimensional Magic to give it a glassy finish. Then I added some white metallic paint with scrunched up plastic wrap and stamped a swirl over it and heat embossed with silver EP. To Finish I stamped on my 'wish' sentiment and then 'birthday' sentiment on a thin strip of white card and assembled the elements using foam tape on the 'bottle'.
Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate it - happy card making
I love the colorful balloons floating by to say hi, Robyn, but the "magic" bottle is so creative and fun! Love that it shines like colored glass and the "magic" coming from the bottle is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteSo clever and so creative. Both cards are so very pretty x.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant take on the Twofer Challenge Robyn. Both fabulous cards.
ReplyDeletePretty ('n) Clever!
ReplyDeleteOh, my word, such imagination! A genie bottle! Dang! Brilliant idea to add the gloss to make it look that much more like a bottle. Sort of cloisonne. And all that genie mist you have puffing out around the swirl -- another brilliant idea. I love this card! I love the stamp, too, as hot air balloons floating up and away in those beautiful clouds. You aced our Twofer Balloons challenge, Robyn!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely stencilled background for those fabulous, bright hot air balloons, Robyn ... they look so serene floating by! Oh my goodness, how brilliant is that genie bottle ... you've made it look all rich and magical with the vibrant colour and shine ... and the genie mist is spectacular ... looks as though he's about to appear to grant those three wishes! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic cards Robyn! Love the sweet hot air balloon sailing across that beautiful blue sky. Adorable scene with lots of colour! Your Genie in a bottle card is so creative and clever. LOVE the balloon with the bright colours and glossy accents. Great design for your tablecloth and swirl from the bottle as the Genie tries to appear. Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer Card Challenge! xx
ReplyDeleteUsing the hot air balloon as a genie lamp is beyond clever, Robyn! I love both designs and how bright and bold your colors are! You are a magician when it comes to blended backgrounds! I think the clouds and the tablecloth are sensational and I love how you created smoke coming from the glossified genie bottle! Thank you so much for playing at Twofer Card Challenge #14! Hugs, Darnell
