CAS Watercolour March challege

Julia is hosting our March challenge at

Luck of the Irish

Image result for australian bushfires imagesI've made this card with the recent Australian bushfires in mind....a truly devastating event seen across the world
My red card represents the fires
My dark gum leaves represent the burnt landscape
My green 'splash' represent the rejuvenation of the vegetation and hope for the future.
They say Australia is the 'lucky country'  ....
So I'm wishing all those affected 'Best Wishes and Every Luck for the Future' and a huge Thank You to all those who fought the fires and those who assisted.

I started by creating the background using Brushos sprinkled onto white card and liberally spritzing with water, then I took another panel of white card and pressed it over the top - this gave me two watercoloured green panels.  From the darker one I die cut the gum leaves and inked these with Pine needles DI and Hickory smoke, then I took the Versamark pad and inked the edges of three leaves and gold embossed these, then repeated that and embossed with black EP.
With the second green panel, I trimmed it and stamped the sentiment in black and clear embossed, then used dark green card as a frame layer onto a red card.
The team at CAS Watercolour would love for you to join in this month and share a card, go check our guest Hannelie's gorgeous card too over on the blog
Thanks for stopping by my blog  --- have a Happy Day and send out some loving thoughts to all those suffering from dreadful weather conditions and also those affected by the virus...

  1. What a lovely tribute card to your beautiful country of Australia Robyn - I followed all of the devastation to animals, humans and landscape and kept you all in prayer - so thankful it has finally been contained and hopefully healing has begun for all those affected... a beautiful splash of background and lovely embossed edges on your stem! xx

  2. I just love this, thanks for explaining the meaning. The contrast from the red and black is so dramatic against the lovely soft watercolour background. We have indeed watched the fires with horror from afar xx

  3. What a lovely card Robyn, and the meaning behind each layer is even more beautiful! I hope Australia never sees anything like the fires you experienced again and that your country will have nothing but blessings and luck moving forward! Thanks for sharing such a lovely and beautifully thought out card with us all! Hugs. :0)

  4. Beautiful card and a lovely tribute to all those that fought hard against the raging fires, Robyn. It has been a devastating year for Australia and I wish the best of luck with moving forward now that the fires are out. It's going to be a long journey, but we already have seen the resilence of the Australian people. xx
