Have you joined in the fun using your floral embossing folders this month
For this post I decided to upcycle a couple of boxes I had on hand.
This one is a very simple addition of a floral embossed border to a square tissue box. The white card strip off cut fitted the narrower EF just right and it didn't affect the embossing even when I ran it through the Cuttlebug 4 times, then I cut it in half. To finish I added a black card layer and wrapped it around the box --- this Embossing Folder is a magazine freebie -- Australian Simply Cards - Floral Flutter
Our son orders lots of stuff on line and we have plenty of boxes so I selected this small one and gave it a coat of olive acrylic paint, before decorating the sides with my embossed panels.
Next I inked up the EF -- Sizzix - Beautiful Blooms, with different Distress Oxide colours, but not all the colours at the same time -- here's the green
Next the yellow and purple -- I used a baby wipe to roughly remove ink from the sections I didn't want that colour.
Lastly the blue shade
I did try to water mist the wet ink but it made a mess.... so I decided to just very lightly mist the white card before I started and repeated the task three times to give me enough to cut and cover the box
The panel on the left was my disaster piece - too wet
So I had fun anyway and got to use more of my neglected Embossing Folders.
Hope you can find some time to decorate a box and share it with the Challenge at Let's Squash It!.
Thanks for popping in and have a Wonderful Creative day
Gorgeous work, Robyn! I also thought of making over a tissue box. Great boxes, Jo x
ReplyDeleteI like them both, but love the black and white box the most.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful upcycled boxes, Robyn!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to play, reduce waste and end up with something useful and pretty to boot!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Robyn!!
Two really great ideas, love the colourful second one. If I try and run a folder through more than once the card always seems to move and I end up ruining it. You have made it look so easy. I have made a box for this challenge, just need to find time to do the post now xx
