Christmas - the most wonderful time of the year

This week Christmas Card Challenges #46 and also the October Rudolph Days challenge are both "Anything Goes".  So here is a santa card for the challenges....I really like this stamp but have struggled to ink it up nicely to stamp but discovered that if I use a brayer to apply the ink I get a lovely even cover and perfect stamped image.  Because the image is quite finely detailed just inking with maroon is very effective....so I just layered the panel onto a celadon green coloured layer and a matching maroon onto a white card and then finished off with a gold embossed sentiment that I also layered and 3D mounted.  Thanks for taking a peek

Joy to the World

Hi there, I'm back today with another Christmas card... this freebie magazine stamp caught my eye and with it's round shape I'm playing along today with The Paper Players #311 theme - Cirlces. I've also designed my card with the layout at 52 (Christmas) Card Throwdown September Sketch.  Happy Little Stampers September Christmas challenge - is to be inspired by a Song and also at Christmas Card - Week 39 photo challenge - Music.  Using this gorgeous shiney music background paper helped my gold circle to frame the stamped image - I coloured this with watercolour pencil (that I haven't used in ages as they've been buried in a craft box for years). Then I just layered this onto some metallic red paper and added a Song inspired sentiment. Thanks for taking a peek

Christmas Wishes

'Watercolouring' - well this is one of my favourite techniques - it's just relaxing for me and like last night cooking dinner got a wee bit delayed as I was busily engrossed in painting my image.  I used Distress Ink after stamping the image in Pumice Stone DI. To finish a stamped and embossed sentiment, a few sequins and all layered onto this gorgeous red cardstock I've had for years. I'm posting to 52 (Christmas) Card Throwdown - technique challenge and  "Anything Goes over at Christmas Card Challenges - week 38,  and Simon Says Wednesday challenge.  Thanks for taking a peek

Celebrate the Season

I haven't been at my desk most of the week but just found an hour this morning to play along at 52 (Christmas) Card Throwdown - where the challenge is to Pick a Previous Sketch - I chose Sketch #40 June 2015.  With not much time left to post my card I chose elements I already had at hand - needed to trim a tag shape, find a matching background and sentiment - I have been wanting to use this lovely die cut bauble for a while - I collected the cutouts and coloured them and then set them pack in place.  I am also going to post to Christmas Card Challenges - Anything Goes.
Thanks for taking a peek

Joy

I just love the Bokeh technique  and I had this piece made a from a few weeks back, so decided it could look good with this die cut Christmas tree.  I cut some more circles in three shades to represent the tree baubles and then used a matt metallic card to die cut the work Joy....I love how I didn't have to cover up the background too much. I'mm posting my card to Christmas Card Challenge Week 38 - Anything Goes and also August Rudolph Days Challenge. Thanks for taking a peek

Christmas is Love with all the Trimmings

Sadly my photo doesn't do justice to my soft pastel colours on this Christmas card for the Merry Monday #168 challenge. I am quite pleased with the image stamped in red and embossed with pearl white embossing powder that softens the outline of the image. I used Distress Inks to colour the poinsettias and then adhered the panel to two layers to frame it.  A sentiment and double ribbon bow finished the card.  I am also posting to Christmas Card Challenge, Week 36 - Anything Goes.  Thanks for taking a peek

Merry Christmas Robins

This morning I have finished a card for the "Anything Goes" - Week 36 at Christmas Card challenges. I really like this stamped image of Robins...I wonder why?  Anyway I coloured it with pencils for a change, then framed it using red Christmas paper - I did that tricky cut one end of the die and then stretch the opening and cut the other then thankfully when I sliced between the two it matched up perfectly. I mounted these two layer onto a gorgeous green fence background and then finished the bottom edge with lace, ribbon, a bow and hand-cut holly leaves and pearl berries. The last addition was the sentiment that I decided to cut in the wavy banner shape. So as the card is basically Red and Green I am also posting to 52 (Christmas) Card Throwdown, colour challenge.  Thanks for taking a peek

Merry Christmas

Well I certainly never thought I'd make a black and white Christmas card...but with the prompt  of the colour challenge at Christmas Card challenges - week 31 - I decided to use this panel that I had previously made with the Bokeh technique.  A darkened a die cut tree that a kind friend had sent me and attached that with some white pearls.  To finish the card I used a die cut 'Merry' and stamped Christmas.  As I have made a 'Tree' card I am going to post it to Happy Little Stampers First Christmas Challenge in July.  Thanks for taking a peek

Merry Christmas

I often forget to use my embossing folders and I really like this one and feel that it goes really well with this stamped and embossing Christmas Bauble...I stamped in Navy onto Sand coloured card, fussy cut it, added a bow and gem and then foam mounted it to the front panel. I layered it onto Sand and Navy card and finished off with a stamped sentiment.  I am posting to 'Tis the Season TTS#45 for the colour palette - Navy, Sand and Concord and to Christmas Card challenge #30 - Anything Goes.  Thanks for taking a peek

Deconstructed Sketch, CR84FN

Deconstructed Sketch No. 84
My last card for tonight, we're off to bed so  we'll be fresh and bright for tomorrow.  I like the soft colours for the CR84FN70 challenge and the layout for Deconstructed Sketch #84 suited my pre-stamped bear but in saying this the colours are out of my comfort zone -
I am happy with my card :-) .... so good night and thanks for taking a peek

Christmas, 52 (Christmas) card throwdown, Wintew Wonderland, Christmas card challenge

Lucky me - this Monday we have a public holiday in Western Australia so after spending my morning cleaning the caravan and beginning with the packing I've taken so me time this afternoon to make another card for my Christmas pile. Here I've used the sketch Christmas card challenge - week 27 , and use a sentiment only on the card for the challenge at 52 (Christmas) card throwdown - June sketch 6,  also it fits with the Holly challenge at the Winter Wonderland. The holly background paper is just tissue Christmas wrap -scrunched a little and glued to white card. Thanks for taking a peek
