Our Beautiful World

Week 99 at Our Beautiful World - where Kirsty along with her team hosts beautiful photo sharing.  Manuela has suggested this weeks theme
FUN
My series of photos today are of our gorgeous granddaughter... having such a fun time shopping with her mum and me.  She wanted to be independent and so we got her to be in charge of the shopping basket - she thought she was so special and soon got the hang of guiding it down the aisles...of course we had to stop at the books.... and then the toys....what a Fun time she had.

This is my last post as a team member with Our Beautiful World, I have decided to step down as we have lots going on in our lives in the next 6 months.  I would like to thank Kirsty, Ros and Manuela for their friendship and inspiration and welcome Mandy to the team. It's been loads of fun and I've certainly learnt to look at my camera in a different way.  Now pop over to the OBW blog and visit the team to see their Fun photos and maybe you have some pics to share.
Thanks for visiting my blog...enjoy your weekend, cheers

Friday Smiles

Share a smile...Hi there on this very delightful Friday at my place.  It's time for Friday Smiles at Annies blog Week 121.  And I'm happy now as hubby is home after two weeks working away and all the family were here for dinner. Sophie certainly enjoyed my fried rice and chicken followed by a dessert I concocted from vanilla ice cream, chopped frozen raspberries and roughly chopped chocolate ripple biscuits.
Now I have my bag packed too as early tomorrow we fly off to Brisbane so hubby can watch his first Aussie Rules Football game for his team St Kilda (the Saints)....I'm tagging along to keep him company as our son wasn't able to attend.  We're going to visit our rental property so we can use the trip as a tax claim.
Now a couple of photos that have me smiling...our grey cat Arthur - you'll find him sleeping in all sorts of places....I expect all cats do this. Just finished folding the washing right now and his jumped in and claimed it as his posie.
Here he is earlier this week in a cardboard box full of plastic bags and packing
And this is gorgeous Sophie with her cousin Noah, last week at her dad's birthday dinner at Sizzlers.  She looked so cute in her Frozen outfit but wouldn't stand still for me to get a pic.
Well that's it for today....pop over to Annies blog and share your Happiness and checkout the other "posters".  Enjoy your weekend

Dear Friend,

What a fun tag this month for Tims 12 tags of 2015 - May; with the use of hessian and some lovely handmade flowers.  I did enjoy making this one and as a photo I have used one of my mum when she was very young. And thanks to my friend Janice who was cleaning out her jewelry and and passed on to my a few old ear-rings which works very well of the charm for the ribbon bow.  Thanks for taking a peek

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday - 6th Anniversary

Congratulations Julia on the six year anniversary of WOYWW.....a fabulous effort, much appreciated by many people.  Well you just have to visit Julias blog (Stamping Ground) because she has explained just how it is to be a Desker - I get every words she's said and am seriously thankfully to all those friendly, crafty and inspiring people who share their worlds and come visit mine.
Here's my desk today - still on the tiny round dining table but I manage. I'm watercolouring with Distress Inks these images for cards...I don't usually do multi images at once time, but a friend asked if I could make her some cards so I'm using the stamps from one set to make half a dozen cards. You can sneak a look at my ATC at the back - I made them with the same image. Cheers and have a wonderful week - hugs to all you wonderful bloggers who keep me company on a Wednesday
PS  I have two spare ATCs if there are any Aussies who'd like to receive one.

Best Wishes

I have been playing around with my stencils....not something I find easy.... so this card is a kind of experiment. I used a Distress Inked wash on the background card and sponged the chevrons in three different colours down the side. Then used some gold coloured texture paste over another stencil in the top corner. When this was all dry I stamped the bird image and sentiment, and added a few more tiny birds. I used the Distress Inks to colour the image. I've used the Stamplorations #34 sketch for my layout and am posting to Simon Says Wednesday challenge - to use stencils and as it has a 'colourful grunge' feel I'm also posting to Time Out Challenge #31. I used the palette at Colour Q#292 but missed the post.  Thanks for taking a peek

YOU are my Best Friend

My mojo is on a roll today - I discovered I had a short time to make a card for
I decided to go with "Y" for YOU....
Funny the things you choose to pack in your crate when you're heading away from your desk... there it was a whole pack of words... so I quickly selected those that would suit the verse in my head ..  and there you go - a friend card.  I used a stenciled background and bright colours for my words - a happy card.  Thanks for taking a peek

Merry Christmas

YYYAAAHOOOO, my first Christmas card for this year (last year I had half of my 70 odd made - so you can see why I'm happy). This card is a CASE of Kims card over at Stamplorations - May CASEplorations...I love her card; white on the kraft. And over at Merry Monday #159 - a request for a card with Non-Evergreen trees.  Now I am not at home and didn't bring my collection of Christmas stamps so I had to be creative...found 'twig' stamp and thought it could pass for a tree, stamped in dark brown and added some snow with a white gel pen. Finished off with a sentiment, a flick of pearl mist and a wrap of twine and bow.  Thanks for taking a peek

Our Beautiful World

Hello and welcome to my OBW post for this week  Week 98 at Our Beautiful World and today's theme has been suggested by Ros
BROKEN
My photos today are of an old broken concreters wheel barrow - it's been hiding under a tree in our yard for the past 5 years after we brought it home from the dump.  Just waiting there for me to come home and unearth it.  It's rusted in the bottom and the legs are all rickety - I think it's had a good useful life and I'm planning for it to relax and display some beautiful flowering plants in my garden.

Thanks for taking a peek at my photos, Do you have any to share, we'd love to see them over at Our Beautiful World and while you're there please check out the other team members photo posts this week. Cheers

Friday Smiles

Share a smile...Hi and welcome to Week 120 of Friday Smiles hosted by Annie...please visit her blog and share with us all what has you smiling and happy this week.
As we are visiting our home again and the weather has just been perfect - I've been out in the garden most mornings and this week I've mostly been trimming.
Below is a view Monday morning of the front fence of our home with all those clumping golden canes... smiling, smiling
because this morning I finished cutting down the last one - so you can see we have a fence.
All this work is being done because we are to have some renovations done to the house in the next few months and I decided move plants and trim before builders trample all over them. And the front fence is going to be replaced so I figured we'll move it before they start and will give them better access to the yard....well that's the plan anyway.
And yes I know those palms will grow again but the remains will be dug up too...by the men hopefully.
Of course I also got to spend a day with our daughter Jacalyn and gorgeous gd Sophie... here she is with her first encounter with Playdough...well the mums played and Sophie joined in...
...her mum made a baby and a bottle and Sophie recognized her wonderful work and proceeded to feed the playdough doll.
Jacalyn and I were laughing our heads off at what we were doing...bought back memories of me making heaps of tubs of playdough to sell at our Play group meetings.
Well I hope you've had as good a week and me... have a wonderful weekend, Cheers

What's On Your Workdesk, Wednesday??

..in my opinion!Week 311 at WOYWW, where you can join in and enjoy a 'snoop' around the desks of friendly crafters who are happy to share what is going on at their place.
Here's my desk today...back at the dining table at our sons place where I am visiting again for the next 4 weeks....this time I packed to plastic crates of stamping gear as I don't plan to spend all my time in the garden and do have at least 3 birthday cards to make and two other projects I'm thinking about.
I've been making the first birthday card using the Bokeh technique and in dark colours for a male.  You can see I can squash on to the small round table - my laptop, my work pad, a tray of pigment inks, a tower box containing distress inks that will have to grow to two containers to hold the new pads stashed on top - they're my favourite inks at the moment. a box with all my necessary basics, then I start to spill over onto the floor and chairs. In the middle is a card from US that arrived from Judy for the card swap and my empty coffee mug.  Well the day is creeping on and I'm off out for the birthday dinner at Sizzlers with the family so I'd best get this posted and squeeze in a few desks...thanks to everyone who visited last week and again if you're an Aussie and would like to trade ATCs for the WOYWW 6 swap please let me know (just keeps the cost down and it's fun to share).  Cheers

Happy Birthday

I've made a male birthday card today as it's our SIL's birthday today.
Male colours are not one of my favourites...so I've had a play around with some unusual colours...like burnt gold and cinnamon and white....to create this Bokeh effect - I really like the photo Mandy shared here and tried to create something like that...(I must say here that the photo is not true and the card is really a lot softer in colour, much more muted) I used a silvery pearl card base and masked off a section at the bottom and inked the edge and then die cut Happy Birthday in twice and layered them to give a background highlight.
This month House of Cards challenge is to use the Bokeh technique.
