Friday Smiles

I've a few photos to share this week and it was my birthday Wednesday.
We started the day early and I indulged with strawberry pancakes and yoghurt mmm mmm
Then we met with my daughter and the girls at the playground for morning tea.... and of course some play time
Nanny and Mia
 and with both the girls
The day progressed with lunch at my friends Janice and Tonys with a couple of glasses of bubbly - now wasn't that also nice for my hubby to have the day off so he could do the driving for once.
And in the evening the family met at our place for dinner - yummy indian curries I cooked the day before.  Sophie helped her mummy ice my chocolate 'sprinkles' cake  and then helped me blow out the candles.
And ... eat the yummy cake
Sooo good she licked the plate clean
Next morning we were all up early again and off down to the Strand where the Reef HQ Aquarium staff were releasing two turtles back into the sea after recovery in the Turtle Hospital
Here's Sophie with Sofie the Turtle
And the staff carrying Summer turtle down to the waters edge - there were lots of people to see this event as it is school break.
Hope you've also enjoyed your week and that you have lots to smile about.

Joy Love Hope Peace

Soooo how quickly did this month fly by but I suppose it has been a busy time for this family. Anyway I did manage to made a card for the September Rudolph challenge over at Scraps of Life by Scrappymo. I do like this sentiment stamp and thought it was really a tree shape so I used very watery distress inks in two shades of green the brush stroke a tree. Then stamped the sentiment and it looked a bit bare so found this swirl stamp to use as a trunk.  Finished off by simply attaching to a green card and punched star.  Thanks for taking a peek

Warmest Wishes to Friends

I posting my card to Merry Monday Christmas challenge #214 - Warm Winter Wishes.  Some thought needed to go into making this card because we live in the Southern Hemisphere and here in Queensland Australia our Christmas weather is hot and tropical - which is something of a puzzle because we still like to have a hot cooked Christmas dinner (- times are a changin' though).
So I sought out this Christmas pudding as my 'warm' element and my sentiment bears 'warm' wishes.
I was also inspired by the colours and to use a bow as well.  I am also posting to Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media September challenge - Distress...so for this element I used my  distress tool to  'rough up' the edges of some of the panels and I used designer paper with a distressed look. Then I also machine stitched my panels and am also posting to ABC Christmas Card challenge - "S" for Sew What?.  Thanks for taking a peek

'S' for Sew What?

Wishing You a Magical Christmas

Saturday I joined my friend Vikki for some well needed card making - it's nice to get together and inspire each other, so we made some Christmas cards.  I cased Muse: Christmas Vision #63, Cornelia's card (below) - I don't do cute often but Vikki had this sweet little Rudolph so I stamped him, coloured and fussy cut.  Then I used a Christmas tree die to cut a few of these trees, cut them up and layered them for my white tree scene. I 3D mounted the layers and finished off the card with some tiny sparkles and a stamped sentiment. Thanks for taking a peek

Friday Smiles

Hi and welcome to my happy week ... following on from my Chicken episode, those girls are now definitely free range... we may need to clip their wings or put up a 2 meter fence but until then they continue to visit the neighbours (who all assure us it is fine) and come home when they're ready.
Also this week we've had a few visits from the grand daughters and Thursday we walked up to the local playground - on the way we showed Sophie the Bower Bird nest - so I took some photos thinking you may be interested. ....
The male builds the tunnel nest with sticks and then decorates the entries
This one has a fancy for mostly red to add to the white objects
  and silver
even a red chilli
Very very interesting and Nanny is giving Sophie nature lessons - she seems interested and knows the names of 5 or 6 different birds.
Now if you've some happy moments or pics or just a joke, pop over to Annies blog and join in.  In the meantime have a wonderful week Cheers

Just Because...

Well the weather is warming up here in Queensland and my guys have gone away for the weekend so I've free time ... so I've been busy and here I have a layered card with designer paper and die cuts and flowers and lace which I haven't played with for aaages.  I stamped, coloured and fussy cut my stack of cups and found some pretty blue papers to layer. Stamped my sentiment on the top panel and decorated the card with some lace, and flowers. I'm posting to two challenges - Inspired by All the Little Things #24 - a fabulous inspiring photo and also to a new challenge for me - Naugthy or Nice #31 - Food or Drink -  we can pretend a lovely afternoon tea was enjoyed and the cups are stacked.  Thanks for taking a peek

Let It Snow!!!

Now realizing I don't have any Snowmen stamps, this week I've resorted to some hand drawing, well really copying some images - I arranged them in a little group and coloured them with pencils - my very very old Derwent 72 pack that I uncovered in the unpack this last week, they are 50+ years old and still colouring strong. I added some white gel pen to the snow and glitter pen, and a few gems - some buttons and eyes and twinkles in the sky. Then finished off with some layering and a stamped sentiment tag. I posting to 52 (Christmas) Card Throwdown - September theme: Snow people and Happy Little Stampers Christmas challenge for September - Song - mine is Let It Snow with Michael Buble singing along.  Thanks for taking a peek

Merry Christmas

This weekend I've been following this tree shape theme, with this card I decided to stamp the layers on the tree with various coloured inks and stamps. I cut a mask, did my stamping and then trimmed the card to a tree shape.  I layered into onto bright blue and attached it to the card...I decided to vary the card a bit and made a tri-fold.  Even though the card is green I think it still qualifies as a Clean and Simple card so I am posting to Simon Says Wednesday challenge as well as Muse:Christmas Visions....I'm also not sure if I an enter 2 cards here but I've  been having lots of fun with my trees and I've used Chriss's rainbow shades as inspiration.

Simon Says: Clean And Simple

Birthdays are good for you....

Had to make a card for hubby's birthday - so thought this sentiment summed it up perfectly.
I coloured the little turtle with markers and framed him with green.  Then made this background with sprays - as you can see I'm not too good with the sprays and got blobs as well -  but that all lent to the effect....I used Magical Micas in green and red. I stamped happy birthday randomly over the background too.  I'm posting my card to Virginia Views #23 challenge - use Spray, Mist or Splatter.  Thanks for taking a peek

Christmas Wishes

It is so nice to be playing with my stash of ribbons - well actually this one includes sticky tape (the red and white snowflakes) as well. I've made a few similar tree cards and this one I decided to add an embossed background and a die cut sentiment.  My card is basically red and white which I'm using as my inspiration for the Merry Monday #213 challenge - photo below and also I'm posting to Happy Little Stampers new category - Anything Goes with Dies, and Simon Says Wednesday challenge - Clean and Simple - I did manage to include a tiny bit of stamping with my "wishes" tag.   Thanks for taking a peek.

Clean And Simple

Oh, Christmas Tree.....

This afternoon I enjoyed some card making and managed to add a few more to my Christmas stash. I had such fun making this ribbon Christmas tree, I've made a few. Simple cut a tree shape and wrapped a variety of ribbon, threads, buttons and shiny things around it.  Finished off with a simple stamped sentiment.  I'm posting to Happy Little Stampers September challenge - Song and my Christmas song is 'Oh, Christmas Tree".  Thanks for taking a peek
I made a colourful one too
