Spread Your Wings and Fly

A bit of dabbling with mixed media bits today...this year I'm determined to have a go more often.
I started with gesso over my card, then sponged on Distress Inks, stuck on some torn printed tissue paper and added some texture paste with a stencil.  Then some stamping around the edges. I found this die cut cage in my stash, coloured that up with DO and then stamped my bird on a branch, fussy cut it and used pencils to colour it.  Attached all my pieces and sponged up the edges before framing it with a peach card background.
I am playing along with Happy Little Stamper Mixed Media Anything Goes January challenge - Layers.
Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate it, -- happy crafting

Smile

A lovely quiet Saturday for me so plenty of time for some Netflix watching while I did some fussy cutting.  I decided to use some more of my wax paper background that I made yesterday and came up with this little underwater scene featuring a seahorse.  I stamped the seahorse and watercoloured him with Distress Oxides and fussy cut him out and then gave him three layers of Thick Embossing Powder, sprinkling in some gold and orange glitter on the last layer.  I fixed him to the panel with some gauze and two die cut 'sea weeds'.  Then I used the off cuts to die cut my sentiment mounting that on a white strip with foam tape.  I am playing along with CAS Mix Up June challenge.. Layered Embossing Powders;  my elements are - Layered Embossing Powder, stamping, watercolouring, die cuts, fussy cutting. I am also playing along at Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media June challenge - Layers.  Thanks for visiting and enjoy your weekend

Hello, Sunshine

Today I had a chance to finish off some works in progress but you know how it is sometimes you get inspired and before you know it you've got another work in progress.  Well this card is one from the first pile of WOPs... My background panel was made with washes of Distress Oxides - love how it turned out and just right for some silhouette stamping in the foreground. To finish I added a purple card strip to hold my sentiment stamped on vellum and a die cut butterfly that I inked and embossed in clear and added a purple background to it.  I was inspired by Anita's card at Muse challenge #252 - the layout with the foliage at the bottom, overlayed with the sentiment and the butterfly.

I am also posting to Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media challenge for February - Butterfly.  Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day

...incredibly wonderful..

oh my.... I haven't done any  Mixed Media for ages so I'm quite pleased with my card today.  I die cut some flowers from a piece of created with Distress Oxides, sponged the edges, added some more colour to the centers and then glued on some micro beads. Then I die cut some leaves from DOX card and also from some vellum. I found a background panel from my stash with white gesso lightly sponges over it, added some leaves with a stencil and more DOX and stamped on my sentiment.  Arranged my leaves and added a few loops of matching thread before 3D mounting my flowers. To finish I added a scattering of tiny pearls. I am playing along with Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media January challenge - theme Garden, also with The Card Concept #85 - Rustic Blooms - love the inspirational photo - gorgeous flowers, with the aged timber backdrop.

Thanks for visiting and enjoy your day.

Learn..Live..Hope

Just thinking as I post this card - how appropriate to be making a male card today - our home backs onto the Townsville Street Racing Car Track - used once a year for the Townsville 400 V8 Supercars ....lots of noise and although I'm not a race car enthusiast it's interesting to sit comfortably on our back deck and watch the race on the TV and experience the really race sounds.
Anyway back to my Male card - I've used the Fusion Card challenge sketch , and have added lots of texture for The Male Room #64 challenge - Add Texture... I dry embossed and then used gold and silver embossing powder on the raised dots. Then I had a dabble at the 'tarnished foil' technique - embossing it with a embossing folder and adding gold, silver EP and some copper Inference Powder and some black Archival Ink. I had this lovely Designer Paper with the sentiment on it and used that to select my card colours and to finish layered these to a grey card and attached a silver embossed stamped fob watch.  I am also posting to Happy Little Stamper July Mixed Media challenge - Texture. Thanks for taking a peek

Life is Better in Flip Flops

Well we're nearing the end of the first month for 2017 and I'm eager to post one last card.  I've been having a fiddle with some mixed media which really doesn't some easy to me but I'm happy with the result.  There are a number of layers to my card... Distress Ink background, used also to colour texture paste which I used with a stencil and added glitter glue.  I stamped my 'Flip Flop' image on green card and tore the edges, added som sunnies and then more glitter glue.  I mounted it to my card over some twine and finished the card with a die cut bird and foliage.  I am posting to Stamplorations January challenge using the sketch and mixed media.  Also to Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media January challenge with Layers as the theme.  Finally to Simon Says Monday challenge - Spread Your Wings.  Thanks for taking a peek

Happy Birthday

Oh I am enjoying being back at my desk after the Festive Season....so nice to relax with a paint brush and a stamped image....for this card I have experimented a bit with layers.... for the Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media challenge for January and as I have also been using my Twinkling H2Os to colour the image I am posting also to the Happy Little Stampers Watercolour challenge.  I used a Cherry Pie Dylusions Spray on a stencil and then used the negative with an extra mist of water to create this background....welllll it was way toooo bright so out came the white gesso and that's much better. Then I randomly stamped script over the  panel in grey Distress Ink when it was dry and layered this onto a pink panel. I used Twinkling H2Os to colour the stamped image and also stamped the sentiment and mounted these with 3D tape and to finish I added a small bow.  Thanks for taking a peek.

Warmest Wishes to Friends

I posting my card to Merry Monday Christmas challenge #214 - Warm Winter Wishes.  Some thought needed to go into making this card because we live in the Southern Hemisphere and here in Queensland Australia our Christmas weather is hot and tropical - which is something of a puzzle because we still like to have a hot cooked Christmas dinner (- times are a changin' though).
So I sought out this Christmas pudding as my 'warm' element and my sentiment bears 'warm' wishes.
I was also inspired by the colours and to use a bow as well.  I am also posting to Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media September challenge - Distress...so for this element I used my  distress tool to  'rough up' the edges of some of the panels and I used designer paper with a distressed look. Then I also machine stitched my panels and am also posting to ABC Christmas Card challenge - "S" for Sew What?.  Thanks for taking a peek

Twelve Tags of Christmas

I have really enjoyed making tags and playing along with Loll's Twelve Tags of Christmas....here are my last two.
This one I CASED Loll's tag for Day 9 -  two layers of shiny gold card for the base, the top one embossed with a Christmas EF. Then a die cut flower - three layers embossed with a Snowflake on one of my EFs. Finished the tag with a tulle tie, stamped and embossed sentiment and gold cord and gems for the flower center.
This tag just evolved from me finding this little stamped and embossed  scene in my stash of experiments - I had made it all crooked and by cutting it down that was eliminated. I used my dies to create a frame and cut a snowflake to attach over the stamped sentiment. Mounted it all on a lovely spotty background and finished with a lacy ribbon tie.
Thanks for taking a peek - and a big thank you to Loll for hosting this super challenge.
Cheers
