Dry Embossed Highlights over Ink Blending
Well I had an idea to use this technique to create a silhouette effect and chose this Cuttlebug Bird Call Embossing folder, but after creating the blended background with Distress Oxide inks I stupidly put the card in the folder back to front and resulted with a de-bossing image... well I figured whatever I'll try and brayer some weather wood DO over the whole and this is the result - it got messy in spots so I painted over the bird so it would stand out...
Then I repeated the process but used Distress Inks for a brighter colour effect and tried to mask off some area - half successfully.... but it worked
After weeks and heat wave temperatures the weather finally broke and Lows have been gathering off the coast, no cyclones have formed but we have been inundated with rain - 940mm (abt 36in) in the last 8 days, mostly in the last 5 days, so mix that with high tides and there has been flooding along the rivers in town, plus we have a large water storage dam which is being fed from catchment areas and that is currently having planned water releases to alleviate some flooding... we're ok but our yard has seen a lot of water - this pic was Friday with 30cm (12in) deep.
Thanks for stopping by my blog
keep safe - there are some awful disasters occurring around the world.
cheers Robyn
Great save on the first card. It looks really interesting with the colour on the embossed section. I like it. All that rain sounds very challenging. I hope it means it is not so hot now, but high humidity can be pretty uncomfortable too. Glad the water hasn't reached your house xx
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are so beautiful, Robyn. Great save on the first card using a brayer!! And you've done an amazing job of bringing the bird back as the focal. Your second card is so pretty with all the lovely colours of the background. So sorry to hear about all the rain. You must be relieved that the heat is less, but now other worries. Take care and stay dry, my friend!! xx
ReplyDeleteTwo wonderful versions using the same pretty embossing folder Robyn and you brayered the background brilliantly on the first, and restored the bird beautifully and love the brightly coloured background on the second with the darker embossed areas really standing out. Sorry you have had such heavy rain, but the cooler temperatures must at least be easier to cope with. x
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards, the bird silhouette works perfectly with both techniques. Thanks for trying out the technique with us at GOS ♥
ReplyDeleteGreat save of your 'mistake' piece Robyn - both cards are beautiful! So glad you played with the G07 technique with us!
ReplyDeleteWow! That's a lot of rain. I hope you stay safe from flooding, Robyn! The colors in this card are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteSorry to be so late visiting, Robyn. I do hope that your weather has improved as the month has gone on! I love the inking you did for this Go7 technique and I will add it to Pinterest since that was I=Ink week at IDEAS! Keep well! Hugs, Darnell
