What's On Your Workdesk, Wednesday - week 343

worldwide woywwOh wow it's been quite a while since my last WOYWW post, just been busy and not at my desk.
So here's a pic of my desk this afternoon...yep I've not been there today either... but... I have been out at my friend Vikki's for a session today - a well needed escape from the house and some me time.
I made a few cards, and have been experimenting with some Distress Ink backgrounds for silhouette images.
And here's a few others I created for some blog challenges that I still need to post.
As this is the last Wednesday for 2015, I'd like to wish you all a Very Happy New Year and may 2016 be a healthy, safe and prosperous one for you and your families... and hope to see you on WOYWW, sharing you desks, mess and creative projects.  Cheers

Merry Christmas

In  my stash of Christmas cards I have a few 'special' people whom I take some time to create their card... this is one of those and my first shaker card for a very long time.  I created the background with Distress Inks sprayed with Perfect Pearls.  Then used my dies to make the framed window for my glittery bits. And used an ornament die cut where I paper pieced the coloured sections back in and for the sentiment die cut I added a gold star to highlight the star on top  of the tree. I am posting to Just Us Girls #322 - Word Prompt - Merry, also to Happy Little Stampers Christmas challenge for December - theme - A Star and finally to Simon Says Monday challenge - a Christmas theme.  Thanks for taking a  peek

Friday Smiles

Share a smile...
Hi I've been absent from blogging for a few weeks, but I'm back to share some happiness with Annie.
So this week firstly we're all smiling as we had 3+ hours of rain on Wednesday evening - our area is officially now in drought and living with level 2 water restrictions -so the good soaking was a wonderful relief.
Next hubby and I have been busy trying to sort our stuff downstairs and now that my kitchen cupboards are complete we were able to bring up 4 boxes of my gear.... now that might seems ok but our son has a kitchen full of stuff so I've spent today trying to sort 2 kitchens into 1. It doesn't look much different now  - messy, but the keeping stuff fits in the cupboards.... a garage sale is on the books.
Now of course I have to include some happy snaps of the grandkids...
here's Mia (5 weeks) - all smiles
and Nanna and Pa with the girls in their Christmas outfits lining up to have Christmas photos at the local shopping center.

Now here's my chuckle... this is a zucchini from our new vege garden - yes it's round..... the laugh is that hubby bought home seedlings and they've done really well but to our amazement the fruit is round and we thought we had a malfunction - he was certainly baffled. Well another visit to the store proved that yes he had picked up a punnet of a new variety.
Thanks for stopping by and if you've some happy thoughts to share please do over at Annies blog.

Wishing you all the Joys of the Season

For this months card for Society of Stampaholics - November Card Challenge, I chose to make a Holiday themed card using the colour palette.  I love this stamp from Power Poppy and stamped it in Antique Linen and then coloured it in with Distress Inks.  I used a decorative die to cut and layer the image and added a simple sentiment to finish.  Thanks for taking a peek and hope Sara from USA likes her card.

Merry Christmas

In my stash I have heaps of "leftover", pieces I've stamped and not used - At Jingles Bells this week the ides is to use your "Holiday Leftovers" to create a card.  This Christmas tree has been in that stash for a few years now and I'm pleased that I have been able to team it with this pretty background paper.  I finished it with a layered stamped sentiment and a few gems.  Thanks for taking a peek

Holiday Leftovers

Merry Christmas

It was so nice to spend some time with friend Vikki yesterday...we were busy ladies making cards and this is my final card - I just love how it turned out.  I stamped the sentiment and embossed in white and then stamped the poinsettia image in black off-the-page.  I used Distress Inks to sponge on the three colours for the Just Us Girls #320 challenge - colours - red, green and gold - (my gold is not metallic). When that was dry I coloured in the image also with DI and flicked some water over the background for added effect.  Thanks for taking a peek

Happy Christmas

Here is my take on the layout at CAS(E) this Sketch CTS 150.  I stamped and gold embossed a pattern stamp, die cut three circles and then inked them up in different colours for my baubles. I hand drew on some bows and strings and stamped on a simple sentiment.  To finish I inked and gold embossed the edge of the panel before attaching to my base card.  Thanks for taking a peek

Thinking of You

Christmas cards have been occupying most of my card making time lately so it is nice to have a change of sentiment... this card is for the Time Out challenge #44 - CASEing a card made by Karen (see below).  I masked off a rectangle on my base card and stamped this frangipani background stamp and over stamped with the sentiment ... finished with a small flower stamp and pearl center.  Thanks for taking a peek

Twelve Tags of Christmas

I have really enjoyed making tags and playing along with Loll's Twelve Tags of Christmas....here are my last two.
This one I CASED Loll's tag for Day 9 -  two layers of shiny gold card for the base, the top one embossed with a Christmas EF. Then a die cut flower - three layers embossed with a Snowflake on one of my EFs. Finished the tag with a tulle tie, stamped and embossed sentiment and gold cord and gems for the flower center.
This tag just evolved from me finding this little stamped and embossed  scene in my stash of experiments - I had made it all crooked and by cutting it down that was eliminated. I used my dies to create a frame and cut a snowflake to attach over the stamped sentiment. Mounted it all on a lovely spotty background and finished with a lacy ribbon tie.
Thanks for taking a peek - and a big thank you to Loll for hosting this super challenge.
Cheers

Belated Friday Smiles

Oh my goodness...it's Saturday here in Australia, so I'm pretending it's still Friday somewhere (unlikely) in the world so I can post to Annies, Friday Smiles - week 145.
I've had a busy week and obviously the time/days have gotten away from me...
Friday we introduced Mia to the ladies at our regular Friday lunch at the Coffee Club event - of course she was the center of attention, lots of cuddles and smiles from the eager ladies.

Previously in the week hubby and son installed my new electric cooktop and oven - now extra bigs smiles...a new sink last week...now I'm working on the pantry and can hear hubby hammering right now.
More weeding in the garden with an old flower/shrub bed reclaimed to become a vege garden
and a rehash of the old cement troughs as my herb garden
I think that's plenty to smile about - other than I had a lovely long chat with my mum for her 85th birthday on Wednesday, just wish we lived a lot closer so it's nice to know she has family around her to celebrate with her.  Hope you've also had some special moments this week and if you'd like to share and read what has others smiling please pop over to Annies blog and join in. Cheers and enjoy your weekend

Share a smile...

Twelve Tags of Christmas

I'm back posting two more tags for Lolls Twelve Tags of Christmas challenge.
Darnell's tag on Day 7 was my inspiration for this tag. Smooched ink on one side of the snowflake EF, diecut two snowflakes from Distress Inked card and also used that for the sentiment which I stamped and embossed in white - I layered this onto aqua metallic to match the gems and finished the tag with a ribbon tie.
On Day 4 Lolls tag featured inlaid embossing so I have used this idea with my ornament die...you can see I've used three colours of metallic paper and so I am also able to make two more of these tags. For my sentiment I cut around the negative of 'Merry' and coloured it up with Magical Micas which also gives it a shiny finish and then stamped and embossed a mini Christmas
Thanks for taking a peek
