We meet no ordinary people in our lives

Shopping Our Stash SOS318 challenge this week is to make a card displaying our favourite season... well I just love all the seasons but I especially miss Autumn and Spring as we live in the sub tropical and I grew up in southern Australia with four seasons, so my card today is to celebrate Autumn. I really love the colours the leaves turn and then fall to the ground in masses so you can shuffle your feet - my mum would even enclose autumn leaves in her letters to me.
For my card I made a strip using alcohol inks and then bordered it with a strip of yellow before attaching to a lovely lime green card. Then used a recently made sample with alcohol inks in autumn shades to die cut some leaves.  I sponged dark ink through the die to outline the veins and then arranged them in a group at the top and added one to the edge of my stamped sentiment.  I have used the layout at Freshly Made Sketches #303 for my card.  Thanks for taking a peek

It's Your Birthday

Oh dear, I am going to have fun this month with Watercolour Wash backgrounds the theme at CAS Mix Up for September.... I watched Gina's tute and with a water wash I added some layers of colour and let them blend. Now with this lovely bright panel and not wanting to cover it up I decided to use a die cut sprig in white and part of the sentiment in a die cut too.  My small amount of stamping is just two words of the sentiment.   I also love the effects of a silhouette so I am also going to post to CAS Watercolour's September challenge - Silhouette... with my white die cuts acting as the silhouette.

Watch the Sunset

 What a fabulous challenge this month at CAS Watercolour - Silhouette.... I love experimenting and watercolours are high on my list.. I've been trying my hand at clouds and this panel turned out quite well and suited beautifully for my silhouette trees stamp ........ and I'm just mad about sunrises and sunsets, my hubby thinks I'm nuts, I've so many photos of them and as I was about to write up this post I peered out my window and there was a lovely soft sky with the glow appearing behind the trees and roof tops... so of course I rushed out with the camera... photo below.  I'm amazed at the colours a sunrise or set can share with us but mostly I love calming affect it has on me - breathe in a new day and relax at the end. I mounted my panel on navy and even had a stamp to go with it.  Thanks for taking a peek

Hello Friend

My card this past month for the Society of Stampaholics went just across the sea to Dawn in New Zealand.
I've used the colours and sketch as a base for my card - when I chose the pea green spritzed back panel I thought it was a bit bright and in your face, but I'm liking how it turned out. To my oval magenta die cut I added a stamped and watercoloured camellia image and an extra leaf which I attached with foam tape, and to finish added my stamped sentiment.  Thanks for taking a peek

Sending Birthday Hugs

Some more relaxing colouring for me today.... Stamplorations have a blog hop and Linky Party using the Bloomtangled colouring book.  I've used pencils and have coloured the first panel and cut it down to card size and then coloured a second flower and leaves and fussy cut them. I chose a black background on an orange card to show off the colours used and then used foam tape to mount the extra flower.  To finish I stamped a sentiment on white card  - it really helps to highlight the words.  I am also posting to The Daily Marker 30 day Colouring Challenge, not sure I'll make 30 days but I'm joining in the fun anyway.  Thanks for taking a peek

  

Birthday Wishes

 mmmm White on White cards are not that easy to put together and no stamping on this one, then even more difficult to photograph.
Anyway I finally combined an embossed back panel and a few different dies.... a place circle to mount my die cut sentiment, a swirly circle to frame the circle, some foliage to match and add to the bottom and finally some punched and embossed flowers with pearl centers. To finish a scattering of mini pearls.   I am playing along with Double 'D' - All White challenge and also posting to Anything Goes at Seize the Birthday challenge.  Thanks for taking a peek

   

Happy Birthday

After a tidy up and re-organising of my craft space (well it's mostly finished) I found some mojo to make a card for the current challenge at House Mouse and Friends - HMFMC #248 - Pearls and Lace.
First time for ages I started with finding some pretty paper that would suit with this stamp I selected to use - a pink floral - then I found some matching card and colours in my Distress Inks to colour the image.  For the lace option I went with some lacy die cuts between the background papers and around the image which I die cut with a circle die. To finish I added a row of pearls and a few to decorate the cake and lastly added a stamped sentiment.  Thanks for taking a peek

You Brighten Everyone's Day

Finally at last I have my card finished for the Power Poppy Power and Spark Mix and Match challenge for August....with just hours to spare.... and it is nice, relaxing and 'feeling normal' to be at my desk... it's been 'a month' - lots of changes with jobs, child minding and then sadly the passing of my father-in-law - Bill was 93 - RIP, so flights south and cold weather and a funeral, now it's good to be home.
I decided to make a cheerful card - bright colours and then used some different techniques.... I used pearl gold embossing powder on my flowers from the Dynamic Duos: Glads & Gerberas set and then used Mungyo Pastels (chalks) to colour them... purposefully not keeping in the lines something I find very hard not to do - interestingly the embossed surface took on some of the colour of the chalks. Then I used the sentiment from the Poppies set and sponged chalk around the edges of my panel. I found some designer paper to layer under the image and decided to add a strip of green and a matching bow.  I also decided to use Versamark to stamp the sprig from the Countryside Bouquet Deluxe set on the green strip.
