Birds and Baubles

Some fun on my desk this week with BIRDS being the theme at a number of challenges and as my friend recently lent me her quirky bird stamps (Ranger Dylusions) I just had to use them...

Darnells IDEAS prompt this week is A = Anything Goes

Triple B March challenge  - have a lovely mood board in Greens for their Birds, Blooms & Butterflies

Just Us Girls challenge #767 - have a Green/White and butterflies theme

Double D challenge - is also Birds

Stamped and silver embossed my two birds and fussy cut them out, then watercoloured with my Twinkling H2Os... still on my desk from last week... I made up extra wings so I could attach them with double sided foam tape.  On my first card I embossed a piece of patterned paper and them lightly added green distress ink on the raised area and finished off this card with a die cut butterfly and sentiment.

On my second card I embossed white card with a leafy EF and then fussy cut around the leaves to create a border across the bottom of a piece of pattern paper and finished with the stamped sentiment from the same set.   I am joining in the challenge for March at Can You Handle the Pressure

My next two cards are for Christmas.. make one - you might as well make two and I'm using the sketch at Just Add Ink challenge #743
also it's end of the month a Rudolph Days Christmas challenge

I've made a few of these bauble cards for my Christmas stash so far this year... they're fun and easy to make.   This time I stamped on a fit of foliage to hang the baubles... these are made with the top of a small container dipped in Distress Ink and loosely watercoloured, then add a hanger and thread with sparkly gel pen.

Well with the very wet, rainy weather we're having (so far over 2600 mm this year - that's 3 months - so we've broken all sorts of rain records) and lots of time inside, I've also managed to finish a crocheted lap-rug, made with squares joined together and a fancy border to finish

Four Cards for the IDEAS prompt - Anything Goes

Hello from unusually cold sunny Queensland Australia... yes we've been having temps overnight in the low teens (C) and windy days that keep the sunshine cool ....  and along with this the household has been unwell with the flu ... so not much activity is happening..  and today I sat myself down at the desk and rummaged around in the stashes and have finally finished a few cards.  So I am joining Darnell again with her IDEAS prompt - week 4, Anything Goes

My first I'm adding to a new challenge - Love those Pretty Papers challenge  ---  so this soft grey patterned panel was just right to enhance my die cut floral that I watercoloured with Distress Oxide inks.  Finished the card with a stamped silver embossed sentiment and added a purple piece at the back which brings out the flower colours.

I am also joining the challenge at

Next I have a couple of cards featuring embossing for the
On this first one I used the Scorpal to emboss lines in the background and then added a watercoloured floral from my stash and a stamped silver embossed sentiment.

My second embossed card has a panel of embossing (from Couture Creations: Wild Holly) and edged with a die cut lacy strip.  Again from my stash a gold embossed floral (STAMPlorations : Darling dogwood roses), watercoloured with Distress Inks and fussy cut.  Finished by attaching to a matching apricot coloured card.

And lastly a card using a leftover strip from my Distress Oxide smooching recently attached to a panel of blended DO inks and finished off with a black silhouette diecut floral and sentiment.

have a Wonderful Day

Embossing folders..

Firstly I'm sharing a lovely sunset from last evening..  the colours were even richer in real life

I'm sharing this card with
I embossed the plain card that I picked to team with the floral patterned paper, then added some gold die cuts and sentiment and lastly fussy cut some flowers from the same paper

Some light blending of Distress Oxide inks over this lovely 3D Christmas Embossing Folder makes for a quick and easy card ... always great to be adding to the Christmas stash.

And as it's week 3 of the month I'm joining

Darnell with her IDEAS prompt...  E - Embossing Folders

and

Beautiful Blossoms challenge #17 using the mood board for inspiration

Twofer Floral Cards

Since last week I've had some more inspiration to use my Dies... and today I've two cards to share with you ..... I might also mention here that I'm following and being inspired by Darnell's IDEAS prompt and this week it is Embossing Folders

Another lovely floral square card for The Flower Challenge #89...

using a very old Spellbinders scalloped circle die that I also die cut out the center to create a frame... teamed with a lovely patterned paper background.  Then watercolour with Distress Inks a daisy (Sizzix - Wildflower stems) and foliage (Sizzix - Delicate leaves)
I'm also joining in with the challenge at Shopping Our Stash SOS517 - Round and Round

Second card is for the March Can You Handle the Pressure challenge

First die cut an oval in teal coloured card and then dry embossed with Kaisercraft Liberty EF -  backed this with some lighter coloured card.  Watercoloured with Distress Inks... some die cut flowers/stems from Sizzix Wildflower stems and arranged them through the oval opening.

A trio of cards featuring butterflies, birds and blooms

Time to share a few more cards that have evolved from my desk over this month

This first card is for the Can You Handle the Pressure challenge - Anything Goes with a Twist of Butterflies.

Blended green Distress Inks over the leafy embossed border EF and stamped on the sentiment.... finished off with 3 die cut butterflies smooched in DI and spritzed with shimmer mist

Second card for the Triple B June challenge. ... with this lovely moodboard for inspiration.
No stamping on this card... used a pretty pink marbly background (from my Kaisercraft calendar), then die cut the stitched wavy edge on white card - lightly blended edge with pink DI.  Die cut the little bird and watercoloured with DI and finished with a die cut Hello sentiment.

Lastly an Any Occasion card - for two challenges...  Double 'D' Colour challenge - I've used the purple and blues as inspiration.
AND  Beautiful Blossoms challenge #6 - with a mood board in these colours too as inspiration.

I used a scalloped frame die and a number of my flower dies to create this little picture with a lovely patterned paper background - I smooched the flower edges with ink and added some white crystal drops for the flower centers

And my latest crochet blanket... a Mosaic in the Round by Beba Blankets

Two Floral Cards

Here I am again, at the end of the month, and have hardly shared any cards... just simply 'slack'

With my first card,  I've used the colours at the Just Add Ink challenge #654
Stamped the floral image off the edge (Power Poppy- Countryside Bouquet Deluxe) with grey ink and watercoloured with Distress Inks.  On a stitched die cut label stamped and silver embossed sentiment (from my stash so unsure of make) and attached with foam tape

My second card features double embossing... using an embossing folder (unknown from my stash).  Then masked the centre of the embossed frame and applied Versamark ink and white embossing powder - heat set then smooched with Distress Oxide inks.  Finished with a die cut flower (Sizzix - Wildflower Stems #1), smooched the flowers as well and added a few dots of white Crystal Drops.... and a die cut sentiment (Sizzix - Celebration Words Script).    This card is for the current   Can You Handle the Pressure challenge

A New Technique Blog and a Birthday Card

Some dear Blogger Friends have started a blog to share their talents, so we can be inspired to try some things out of the ordinary...  Group of Seven Cardmakers .... why not pop over and check out their cards

For January, the girls are sharing cards they made using different applications and mixes of Embossing Powders  --  Creative Heat Embossed Backgrounds

Here's what I played around with...
  • on photographic paper I swiped Twisted Citron Distress Oxide and when it was dry, wiped the surface with a baby wipe to bring up the bright colour
  • then I pounced with Versamark randomly using bubble wrap and used Sizzix Fir Tree (green) embossing powder and heat set
  • then I repeated this using white embossing powder
  • lastly with Versamark and Kaisercraft Marble stamp - stamped and silver embossed more texture
There was enough lovely background to make two cards...
which I finished off with some Die Cuts (Sizzix) and stamped embossed sentiments

Using the embossing folder - Elegant Occasions (a magazine freebie) - embossed white square card.  Stamped and silver embossed the sentiment and finished with a die cut spray - Intricate Crocus from Card Making Magic - cut from light purple card and coloured with pencils and Distress Ink

Thanks for stopping by my blog,  have a wonderful day
Cheers Robyn

"** HAPPY NEW YEAR**"

My Very Best Wishes for a Wonderful New Year to Everyone....  Peace and Happiness

Who would think I'd still be making a few Christmas cards... you might say I'm getting a good start for next year but really I'm making myself put the crochet hook down and just finishing off some card WIPs in a pile on my desk and join in a last few challenges for the year

Let's Squash It! challenge #27 - Snowflakes and Stars
Here I've used a Starry border embossing folder (which was a freebie with Simply Cards and Papercrafts mag - Santa Clause is coming to town), and brayered yellow Distress Oxide over them and added some glitter glue

Can You Handle the Pressure December challenge - with a Twist of Snow    and I've used a favourite Embossing Folder from Cuttlebug - Flurries, teamed with some die cut snowflakes and lots of sparkly mist.

Of course candles are always Chrismassy... so this one is for the Christmas Kickstart challenge #69
stamp from STAMPlorations: Christmas candles, silver embossed and watercoloured with Distress Inks
Have a Wonderful New Years Celebration - I'll be pretending I stayed up late to see the new year but most likely I'll be fast asleep,  Enjoy Yours and see you all in the New Year, hugs Robyn

Here are the latest blankets I've finished this week.... just needed ends sewn in and their borders
