Our Beautiful World

Our Beautiful World -Week 96 ; my turn to suggest the theme..
another famous movie line by Tom Hanks in
Forrest Gump
'Life was like a box of chocolates; you never know what you're gonna get.'

Of course I just couldn't resist posting a box of chocolates - these Roses ones are popular in Australia and are everywhere this week with it being Mothers' Day today.
Strawberry Creme might be my favourite but I do like nut centers, oh bother I like them all.
These chocolate pieces will be a surprise when you eat them as the centers are licorice.
I tried thinking of 'life' and the unexpected and with all the Mothers' Day flowers about I noticed these Begonias...the buds are flat but what a lovely surprise when they open

Then I thought about people and as I've just been visiting my mum we took some photos of the four generations....Here's mum Joan, her daughter Robyn, her grand daughter Jacalyn and great grand daughter Sophie - we're all first born in our family and I don't think there's any great family trait.
The team at Our Beautiful World would love you to join in our photo posts, so please visit the blog and check out the other team members photos...

Have a Sweet Day

Nice to be home and at my desk today.... I've used a stencilled background I made recently, for this weeks Retro Sketch layout re#163.  I die cut the banner and cut out the stamped sentiment to mount on the card with a button and twine to finish it.

Our Beautiful World

I snapped this photo of Luna our daughters Chinchilla this week and thought I use it as my image for this weeks at Our Beautiful World - Week 95
Manuela has suggested the topic this week
SNAPSHOT
And that prompted me to show you this snapshot of Luna and gd Sophie a few weeks ago (after Luna had been to the groomer....
they love each other and both will often 'smooch up' to the other for a face rub.
Please take a moment to visit the Our Beautiful World blog and see the photos of the other team member and maybe you would like to share a few photos of your own, we would love to see them.

Hello Friend

This afternoon I am using the layout at Retro Sketches re#162
and the colour palette from ColourQ cQc#289
also joining in with Just Us Girls #291 where they would like to see "Twine" used.

Flowers are just my favourite and I am using a NBUS orchid stamp - I really love this with the mixed background already there. Again I've used the Distress Inks to watercolour the image and for the first time in ages I've used a piece of designer paper for the back panel. Then I just layered the image and sentiment and mounted them with foam tape and finished the card with a button tied through with a twine bow.

Cherish each day

Today I am back in Vikki's craft room with plans for a card making day where we can bounce ideas off each other.
I have finished off this card I started late yesterday for the Stamplorations CASEplorations April challenge and have chosen Kimberleys card to CASE with a bit of influence from Shery's card
I stamped and masked the row of butterflies and then sprayed them with Magical Mica mist in an Orange - it has a lovely golden sparkle (that doesn't show too well in the photo). That didn't work to well as the mist seeped under the masks so I had partially coloured butterflies. I flicked a few droplets of water over the orange and part coloured the butterflies. Then I stamped a butterfly on card and coloured it with Distress Ink and when dry gave it a light spray of orange mist and added some Dimensional Magic and white gel pen to highlight a few wing parts. Stamped on the sentiment and used foam tape to mount the butterfly.

Friday Smiles

Share a smile...
This week I'm happy to have been sewing at the impromptu space of the dining room table and have shortened 3 pairs of pants as my daughter and Sophie and I are off south this Sunday to visit with the great grand parents of Sophie and my brothers and sisters....and it's cold down there.  I have also made gorgeous Sophie a dress.....she's modeling it in the next photos.

Thanks for taking a peek and I do wish you all a wonderful weekend, and I just have to tell you my hubby is on his way home YEAH!! (from 2 weeks away) and it's our 39th anniversary today - we don't make a big thing of it but this year we're going out for dinner tomorrow (seeing as he's been driving all day). Cheers

What Lies Behind Us....

I'm so glad I was browsing some of my favourite blogs today...to find I had a few hours to create a card for the Power Poppy for April -Power & Spark challenge...a Pop of Pastel
Flowers are just my favourite to stamp and water colour so I used parts of the posy from the Countryside Bouquet Deluxe set to create a floral border to simply highlight this fab sentiment from the Good Thinking set.  Thanks for taking a peek
