Wishing You a Very Happy Birthday

Hello and hope you are enjoying the weekend... hot and humid here so inside for us in the air conditioning ...   BUT  do you have days where nothing seems to pan out as you might expect when the day started...  Well today it seemed like I was not going to get to my desk... son Ryan was working on the dining table rebuilding the cooling system in his computer, not much I can do there to help but then very late afternoon - light bulb moment and I was at my desk making a PINK card... and it came together so nicely.... just in time for the
Double 'D' challenge - Shades of Pink

  • Inked up part of a large Penny Black stamp - Garden Gems, with Distress Oxides : kitsch flamingo, picked raspberry, bundled sage  ....   using the stamp positioner so I could add layers o colour.  Used Distress ink: picked raspberry and fired brick to add more depth, also used coloured pencils to add a bit more outline
  • Die cut the panel with a rounded corner stitched die (no name)
  • Stamped the sentiment with Versafine black and clear embossed it... stamp from Kaisercraft: Birthday Wishes set.
  • Layered the panel on a dark pink and attached to a square pink card

I am also joining in the challenge at Seize the Birthday  #233... theme Dichromatic -  two colours pink and green

Thanks for stopping by my blog....   have a Wonderful weekend,   Cheers Robyn

Merry Little Christmas

I made a CAS card the other day with the same technique -
for this one I've created a scene over the whole panel
and it's always great to start the Christmas cards early so again I'm joining in the fun at

  • Stamped the sentiment with Versamark and gold embossed on a white card panel... stamp from Clear Impressions: Christmas Floral set
  • I used Distress Inks and blended them over the stamped sentiment.... using tumbled glass, faded jeans, broken china, chipped sapphire and wilted violet.
  • Stamped trees with Versafine black - large tree Kaisercraft: Frosted set and smaller ones from Crafty Individuals CI257 set.
  • Spritzed the panel with Kaisercraft White Iridescent Mist
  • Added snow to the trees with a white paint marker

Thanks for visiting my blog.   have a wonderful day
Cheers Robyn

Wishing You Joy

Finishing off another Christmas card from yesterday..  a very quick and easy CAS card for the Kickstart Christmas challenge #59 - The Sentiment Takes Centre Stage

I have a few large sentiment stamps and this one is a favourite from Stamp It 005 set
  • On a white panel I stamped this with Versamark and added Sizzix Holly Berry embossing powder and heat set it ... it's red in the jar but comes out quite dark, more maroon
  • Trimmed the panel and added two layers to frame it... kraft and dark red and attached to a white card
  • Whheelllla finished ..  making a few more while the gears is around my desk

Thanks for stopping by my blog.... have a wonderful day,    Cheers Robyn

  • Used Distress Inks: tumbled glass, faded jeans, broken china, chipped sapphire and wilted violet to blend over the mask
  • Stamped trees from Crafty Individuals: CI257 set and stamped these with black Versafine with the mask still in place and then spritzed the surface with Kaisercraft White Iridescent Spray..
  • Stamped and gold embossed the sentiment from the Bauble Opulence set
  • From the paper mask die cut I trimmed the hanger top and gold embossed this and glued this in place

Happy Birthday

For my first floral card I chose to use black card again as it really shows off the Faux Cloisonné technique
  • Stamped the flowers from Flourishes: Winter Blossom set, inked with Versamark and heat embossed with gold embossing powder
  • Used Twinkling H2Os to watercolour the Faux Cloisonné and give lots of shine
  • Used a large circle die and gold gel pen to trace a circle round the image and added gold EP and heat embossed it
  • Then remembered I had Papier Glass Finish gloss and painted this onto the dry flowers and let this dry thoroughly --- so shiny now
  • Stamped the sentiment from Darkroom Door: Happy Birthday set, gold embossed, trimmed the black card and gold embossed the edges too
  • Attached the panel to a matching cherry red card and mounted the sentiment strip with foam tape.

My second card is also using the Faux Cloisonné technique... and as one does sometimes - likes the overall panel and can't bear to cut it up

  • I created the background panel using photographic paper and Distress Oxides - tattered rose, mustard seed, fossilised amber, speckled egg - smooched the colours and then wiped over the panel with damp baby wipe
  • Stamped and gold embossed the small flower stamp randomly over this - Simply Cards & Papercraft: Cottage Garden set
  • Then watercoloured the Faux Cloisonné effect with Twinkling H2Os -   love how this turned out
  • Trimmed the panel to fit inside the die cut frame - from Simply Cards & Papercraft: Stained Glass Noel set .... then trimmed light blue card to fit behind the whole frame and attached to a white square card
  • Die cut the Birthday sentiment from Curly Sue in maroon metallic card, and also again twice in card to layer and give depth to the word when attached to the card
  • Stamped and gold embossed the small sentiment from Altenew: Wishing You set, trimmed the white card and attached with foam tape

I am using my first card to play along with the February CAS Mix Up challenge - Faux Cloisonné   ....  and with my second card I will join the All Occasions challenge at The Flower Challenge #65.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, have a wonderful creative week,     Cheers Robyn

EDIT .....   then moments later I was inspired to use some pieces I had stamped and gold embossed on shiny magazine pages.  The flowers are from Altenew: Focus on You and the jar from Simply Cards & Papercraft: Build a Bouquet.  I added Twinkling H2Os to the flowers and used a gold gel pen and gold EP to add some effect to the jar.

Just Becasue.....

It seems that my card making is always left to the second half of the month and that my Crochet projects are filling a lot of my time....  but I'm here today with a card for the

Let's Squash It!  challenge #17 - Grasshopper Green and include an insect with your Embossing Folder.

  • First I dug out the Darice Brick EF and used Distress Oxide in Gathered Twigs and Bundled Sage blended over the panel
  • Stamped the Gecko from Print Blocks with Versamark and heat set Sizzix Fir Tree (green) embossing powder on black card,  then fussy cut it out
  • Found a mini spider stamp and a tiny ants stamp and stamped these with black Versafine
  • Coloured up some die cut foliage from my stash with Distress Inks and attached to the brick wall.
  • Lastly stamped the mini sentiment in Versafine black from Close to My Heart Typed Note set  ..  and attached the gecko with foam tape.

Thanks for stopping by my blog,
have a wonderful weekend
cheers Robyn

Faux Cloisonné Technique using Embossing Folder

Time to join in the fun at

CAS Mix Up with a technique challenge....  Faux Cloisonné

and so I've had a think and decided to use an embossing folder and heat embossing to create the gold outline and then 'enamel' the colours using Twinkling H2Os... and I'm very happy with the result.

My sample try out using part of an embossing folder from Simply Cards & Papercraft :  Tranquil Tulips.  I could only get a strip of embossed black card - I very rarely use black, with the gold embossing it looks great and the shiny H2Os painted in really easily creating I think the Faux Cloisonné effect nicely

My first card I used pale gold metallic card to frame the enamel strip and stamped and gold embossed the sentiment from the same Tranquil Tulips set

For the second card I used pale green metallic card as a frame for the enamel strip and stamped and gold embossed a different sentiment from the same Tranquil Tulips set.

I've enjoyed this technique using an embossing folder, heat embossing and watercolours and have played some more... so I'll be back
Thanks for stopping by my blog... have a wonderful weekend,
Cheers Robyn
