Embossed cards

This week is quickly getting away from me... but I have a couple of finished cards to share

My first card uses the technique from this months
Group of Seven Cardmakers - Kaleidoscope
AND
also using the prompt for Week 3 of Darnell's IDEAS calendar... Embossing Wet or Dry

I silver embossed a large floral stamp and watercoloured it with Distress Inks, then cut it into strips and rearranged the layout... then mounted them on thick card attached to a card and stamped and silver embossed the sentiment in the gap on the card base.

Now for some dry embossing...
A very quick Christmas card .... brayer red ink on the flat side of the embossing folder, placed in the white card (very carefully) and ran it through the Cuttlebug... only minutes..  but I need to practice my inking.

I enjoyed embossing and inking a card a few weeks back and I'm still playing with the effects you can get.  Embossed patterned paper and then blended over colour with Distress Oxide inks... finished with a stamped white embossed sentiment and a narrow layer onto a olive green card.

In front of the Olympics on tele I was busy adding a few more characters to my crochet toy bundle I'm going to donate to a good cause.

have a Wonderful Day

Die Cuts

Hello and how's everyone this week... you know it's Week 2 of the month and that means D = Dies according to Darnells IDEAS prompt, so I've a couple of cards to share.

My first card came about because I was rifling through my patterned paper stash for another card and this one landed on my desk... so I teamed it with matching blue card (which definitely doesn't look matching in the photo) and then used the squiggle circle die to cut "flowers" in three 'matching' colours.  I die cut some floral centers to make them look more like flowers and finished with a stamped sentiment.

My second card features just part of the large Sizzix Bouquet die... die cut from shiny gold card and then trimmed away sections.  Attached to a mid blue panel and onto a pale blue card and finished with a gold die cut sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by my blog

Have a Wonderful week

Embossing Folder cards

A wee bit late this week with my IDEAS post... I totally forgot as I've been spending mornings in the garden; tidying and repotting... see pics below.

But I did have a play with EF or rather I found this one in my stash and just needed to add a watercoloured die cut daisy (Sizzix - Wildflower stems #1... this seems to be a real favorite with me), a matching border layer and sentiment.   It's the third week of April so "Embossing" is the theme, thank you Darnell for helping keep me focused.

A sort of threefer...  I made the middle card last week and then there were the leftover pieces of patterned paper.. so I decided made a couple of quick cards with them.  The one on the left is simply attached to a pink card with a border trim and sentiment.

For the third card I fussy cut the edge of the PP and attached this to an embossed corner of green card with a sentiment to finish

Thank you so much for popping by my blog...
have a wonderful weekend
Cheers Robyn

I revamped my Bromeliad garden.

..... and rearranged the back fence garden to plant up my red lily bulbs.... lots more bulbs were repotted too.

A few wet, wet days and some Cards....

Hello and thanks for stopping by....
Firstly...  My Garden...   Oh it is wet and soggy - 3 days of rain and 300ml (12 inches) has us all indoors but that's ok as I've enjoyed some time with my crochet and made a few cards too.

This card featuring a sweet bear is for the AAA Card challenge #231 - All About Bears

The grey stamped image - Justina from Uptown Rubber Stamps was coloured with colouring pencils and framed with navy card on some cute heart patterned paper, with a white embossed sentiment from Kaisercraft High Tea set.

For my second card I found this stencil masked piece in my stash using a Kaiseracraft stencil - it has sparkly areas so I think I've used Twinkling H2Os with a smooching technique.  Teamed it with a die cut Scribble Heart and heart embossed green glitter card strip... finished with stamped, green embossed sentiment from Power Poppy set - Loving Tulips.

I'm joining in the challenges at Just Us Girls, Word Week #662 - Heart.

This is my latest finished crochet - a mosaic project -  Georgia's Diamonds
Have a wonderful week, Robyn

Faux Cloisonné Technique using Embossing Folder

Time to join in the fun at

CAS Mix Up with a technique challenge....  Faux Cloisonné

and so I've had a think and decided to use an embossing folder and heat embossing to create the gold outline and then 'enamel' the colours using Twinkling H2Os... and I'm very happy with the result.

My sample try out using part of an embossing folder from Simply Cards & Papercraft :  Tranquil Tulips.  I could only get a strip of embossed black card - I very rarely use black, with the gold embossing it looks great and the shiny H2Os painted in really easily creating I think the Faux Cloisonné effect nicely

My first card I used pale gold metallic card to frame the enamel strip and stamped and gold embossed the sentiment from the same Tranquil Tulips set

For the second card I used pale green metallic card as a frame for the enamel strip and stamped and gold embossed a different sentiment from the same Tranquil Tulips set.

I've enjoyed this technique using an embossing folder, heat embossing and watercolours and have played some more... so I'll be back
Thanks for stopping by my blog... have a wonderful weekend,
Cheers Robyn

Just for You

Out with the Embossing Folders and Stencils.... for this months Let's Squash It!! challenge #14

I have borrowed a friends EF.. Couture Creations - Serene..  featuring Butterflies

  • I placed the stencil from ARTplorations - Lupinus, over the smooth side of the EF and used Distress Oxide ink to sponge over the stencil... DO - wilted violet, twisted citron, mown lawn
  • ... and sandwiched the white card carefully and ran it through the Cuttlebug
  • All the raised area is left white but then it was had to see with the bright background garden, so I used mini Distress Inks - mustard seed, mermaid lagoon, mown lawn to bring the butterflies and flowers to life
  • I used scrap paper to mask around the raised areas and then also decided to add black Versafine to outline the main butterfly... and going all the way with glitter glue on the wings.
  • Stamped the sentiment (no name) with Versamark on black card and embossed with white.
  • To finish attached to a bright aqua card

Thanks for stopping by my blog... have a Wonderful Creative weekend,  cheers Robyn
AND   What do you think of my little crocheted mouse in his Christmas sweater - first time I've attempted an animal/toy - he's 8 cm or 3inches tall

Two cards featuring Leaves

Time to share my two cards featuring Leaves...
I chose to use a die cut leaf sprig

  • With this longer die cut I decided to make a slim card
  • Die cut two leaf sprigs and used Distress Inks to loosely watercolour them
  • On matching green card I used the negative of the die cut to add a gold embossed sprig to the background
  • Die cut a decorative label and stamped and gold embossed the sentiment, then blended shabby shutters DI around the edge
  • Layered the panel on dark green to add a frame, assembled the elements and added a few gold gel pen dots

  • Again as the die cut is long I decided to use them as a pretty frame for the sentiment and made a square card.
  • Die cut four leaf sprigs and used Distress Oxide smooching to add the colours
  • On a square white panel I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Clair - Tulip red and heat embossed with Gold Pearl EP
  • Folded picked raspberry card to create the square card and attached all the elements...finishing off with a few White Nuvo Crystal Drop spots

I am playing along with

Just for You

Badge GrabMy card for the August CCC challenge went off to Arlene in the USA... it's probably still floating over by raft but eventually it'll arrive.

I recently found these square metallic cards on a mark down table and cut the front off one card, trimmed  it to size and die cut the four corners.. then used the cutouts in an embossing folder ti impress a design and did some 'paper piecing' replacing them into the corners... as per the sketch suggestion for this months challenge. Then I stamped the image in grey ink and painted on a Distress Ink wash green and orange before adding some detail with coloured pencils.... I added some black with fine marker and white highlights with gel pen.... finally I traced a circle around the image and hand cut it (no die big enough in my stash) and using Versamark and silver embossing powder to blend the sharp white edge with the background.

Thanks for stopping  by my blog   ---   have a Happy Day and stay safe.
