Last card before Christmas....

Back with another card using the

Group of Seven Cardmakers technique...

Textured Backgrounds using Die Cuts

I have had fun with this technique and inspired by the lovely cards the GOS ladies have shared.

For this card I die cut the leaves in white, and after attaching them to a white card panel; blended Distress Oxide ink - broken china, over the whole piece so parts of the leaves were highlighted. Finished off with a stamped sentiment and an arrangement of leaves and circles.

Die Cut Textured Backgrounds

Well, this morning I've actually finished off a couple of cards using this month's technique at

I was really inspired by the cards the ladies made and so for my first card I just did the basic white on white for the background and then die cut the floral sprig from green and red card and finished with a gold stamped embossed sentiment.

And for my second - a birthday card..... I die cut some scribble circles and after I attached them to a white panel, I decided to spritz it with pink magical micas and then attached it with some more pink and gold powder  - it's original !!   Then I die cut my flowers in pink and green card, glued them together and attacked the flower centers with some more gold Mica powder... finished the cards with a white embossed sentiment.

Christmas card rush .....

....oh I am so far behind this year with my Christmas cards, that I've resorted to the production line.

Started with my first design this morning and I'm so happy with these quick and simple CAS cards... going to search my stamps and change the text this afternoon.

Lots of heat embossing - a large sentiment and an ornament embossed in a different colour.

and being the third week of the month joining in with Darnell's IDEAS prompt... It's Embossing

RIP - my little Cuttlebug.... sadly after 18 years she has finally given up the ghost
We've churned out many thousands of cards together and I thank you.

Fun fold Birthday Cards

Last week of the month and time for a couple of Anything Goes Cards for prompted by Darnell's IDEAS weekly challenge.

As we had both grand daughters birthdays this past weekend I went very adventurous and made fun fold cards, but I'm not so good with decorating the insides.

Firstly we had Sophie's 11th so I made a 'never ending' folded card - lots of fun and she loved it.

Next it was Mia's 9th so I saw this flash one on Pinterest - looks small but opens up quite large - Mia receives hers tonight

It uses 3 20cm squares of card, folded in half on both side and then once diagonally, they you attach the unscored squares of the center piece to the outside ones and manipulate the valley/hill folds to form a square.

In a "blues" mood today

Two dry embossed card for this weeks
Week 3 of the month Embossing

Here's a hint... I have numerous very old dryish ink pads, which it turns out are perfect for inking the embossed raised areas of a background panel....and consequentially there was a purge of many ink pads that are absolutely useless.
Created this background, watercoloured a vase of stamped and fussy cut out tulips. Die cut a decorative curvy border and silver embossed the sentiment.

My second card also has an embossed background panel, with two of my favorite die cut flowers watercoloured and arrange behind another die cut curvy scalloped panel with a silver embossed sentiment.

Week 2 -- D for Dies

Die cutting this week.... for Darnells IDEAS prompt.

I managed to stir up my mojo a tiny bit and come up with two cards..  the Christmas one I totally CASed a card I saw on Penny Black fb, using a similar die I had for the gold branches inside the triangle tree.... there might be a few more of these quick and easy ones ... my Christmas stash needs quite a few more

and my second features part of a large sunflower die... I trimmed away the frame and other leaves so that only the flower remained...

Lastly this is my latest Crochet Blanket, I've made this for my sister who lives near mum and does an amazing job helping mum.... we're off to visit mum next month to celebrate her 94th birthday

Thanks for visiting my blog

Getting a bit Inky today

First Monday of the month and with Darnell's Weekly IDEAS prompt I've made a card with just a little bit of watercolouring using my Distress Inks.

I die cut some daisies and leafy stems from the Sizzix Wildflower Stems #1 set and watercoloured them.  Then arranged them over an embossed section I cut to fit the bottom of the card. Lastly (but should have been firstly) gold embossed the sentiment.

End of the Month and Two Cards

zooom zoooooom September goes by ------ and hardly any time at my desk to make some cards...  well really the mojo just vanished even with Darnell's Weekly IDEAS prompt.... nothing from me!!!!   I wasn't idle though ...  the garden fared well, and a couple of birthdays were celebrated and of course there was some (well quite a bit) of crochet

So today I made an effort and did some googling on Pinterest in my 'like those card ideas' folder and happily I've made two cards.  There's no stenciling for the last Monday of the month.... so it's sort of Anything Goes theme

I used my old Spellbinder nesting Classic Inverted Scalloped Square dies to create a double window effect on both cards.   Then added a smoochy background and some die cut flowers, finished off with sentiments

This is my corner to corner chevron blanket - pattern by Polly Plum, Step 2 It.

Hopefully next month (well that's tomorrow) I'll be all inspired to make some more cards.

Happy September

Hello and welcome to the first week of a new month

I'm late this week making cards as I've been crocheting while watching the US Tennis Open where a few Aussies have competed amazingly... and then after that we've had the Paralympics - always astounded by the determination and achievements of these athletes.

My first card is for the new inspiration at

the Group of Seven Cardmakers who have inspired us with this month - to work with Vellum

I've cheated a little by using vellum which already has a design on it, but then I've stamped and embossed the sentiment.... I've a new embossing ink pad and the white embossing isn't the best.

And as it's a new week I have Darnell's IDEAS prompt to inspire me -

First week - Using Ink/ Colour mediums

so here's my second card which is nearly monochromatic -  I opted to ink up the floral stamp with blue Distress Ink and the detail doesn't need for me to do any more.... just stamped and silver embossed the sentiment ... I thought it needed a lift so framed it with orange layer onto a blue panel.

and while I was searching through my long forgotten stamps I chose to stamp this image and used coloured pencils to colour it and framed it onto a large red card.

Card Chain Challenge August reveal

Sharing my August Card Chain Challenge card....  sent off to Jo in the UK

A fun card from me this month using the colours, layout and theme.  I embossed a panel for the background and blended ink roughly of the raised areas.  Used my old Spellbinders die to create a center window for my stamped (American Arts - Emerson) lady and decorated the side with mini die cut flowers and leaves.... finished with a stamped sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful day, cheers Robyn

Just a coupla cards

Last week of the month- can you believe that... August flew by, but being Week 4 Darnell's IDEAS prompt is free for all - Anything Goes.

Dug out some Spellbinders dies and created a frame center piece then blended DI around the edge of the bottom piece.  Used a piece of patterned paper for the background and then stamped two flowers from Blush from Penny Black using Speckled Egg Distress Oxide and fussy cut them out.

This card came about from pieces stacked on my desk... a die cut hexagon frame, a smooched soft purplish background and a lovely holographic butterfly a friend sent me... then finished it with a die cut sentiment cut from metallic purple card.

I'm so thankful to Darnell for her IDEAS weekly prompt that keeps me focused to create cards

Embossed cards

This week is quickly getting away from me... but I have a couple of finished cards to share

My first card uses the technique from this months
Group of Seven Cardmakers - Kaleidoscope
AND
also using the prompt for Week 3 of Darnell's IDEAS calendar... Embossing Wet or Dry

I silver embossed a large floral stamp and watercoloured it with Distress Inks, then cut it into strips and rearranged the layout... then mounted them on thick card attached to a card and stamped and silver embossed the sentiment in the gap on the card base.

Now for some dry embossing...
A very quick Christmas card .... brayer red ink on the flat side of the embossing folder, placed in the white card (very carefully) and ran it through the Cuttlebug... only minutes..  but I need to practice my inking.

I enjoyed embossing and inking a card a few weeks back and I'm still playing with the effects you can get.  Embossed patterned paper and then blended over colour with Distress Oxide inks... finished with a stamped white embossed sentiment and a narrow layer onto a olive green card.

In front of the Olympics on tele I was busy adding a few more characters to my crochet toy bundle I'm going to donate to a good cause.
