Using Embossing Folders

Been playing with my embossing folders and Distress Inks this week...

for Darnells IDEAS prompt

For some reason I thought to embossing patterned paper and then use my inks to highlight the raised embossing... REALLY HAPPY with my result.  Layered the panel on red and green to help lift the colours and then finished with a sentiment tag from the same set of papers I used for the embossing/

My second card came about by using a smooched panel from my stash, embossing it with a little bird themed folder and the used the nearby colours to highlight the birds... to finish I add this already to use fun bird from my stash and a sentiment I think you could use for a number of occasions.

I am going to join in the Triple B challenge for July

July Card Chain Challenge Reveal

Here's my July Card Chain Challenge card that I sent off to Linda W in the USA.  I used circles, stitches and two colours from the palette.

I remembered I had this scribbly circle die and thought to use them as flowers... die cut from 'pineapple' yellow card and with a little 'peach' ink blended on the centers.  Then I used another stitched die that you would use to create a horizon line and laid them at different angles to create the leaves and stems. Mounted them onto a PP background and added a stamped die cut sentiment (from Jillibean).

Theme Options: Fish / Circles / Friendship

June Card Chain Challenge Reveal

My June card for the Card Chain Challenge
went off to Linda in the USA

I had some fun with this card, using the wheels theme as inspiration and of course most of my cards involve flowers - so a spill of tiny die cut flowers in the colours of the palette worked beautifully.  I enjoyed making this card for Linda.

The Layout is orientated horizontally

Hello, my lovely friend

Running late as usual... with my May card for the

I'm also joining in the fun at

Rummaging through my huge collection of scraps and offcuts, I selected these two pieces just because the colours blended and I like the fairy strip.
I used three embossing folders
  • the long thin one from a Damask Rose set,  I smooched it with broken china DO and then embossed the edge
  • then embossed the two PP scraps along the top right side with the Kaisercraft Liberty EF - I put the folder through at an angle and then smoothed some of the lower embossing with the flat side of my scoring tool
  • glued these to card and trimmed to fit a white card
  • from my die cut butterfly stash I chose a large butterfly and embossed it with Cuttlebug Textile EF.... then highlighted the raised areas with white marker
  • attached it along with a small die cut butterfly and flower in shine soft blue metallic card and finished with stamped sentiment - Jillibean Soup - Flower bloom set

Best Friend

Gail and Jo are really challenging us this month at Let's Squash It!   ---  3 EF and a person !!!
Do have blank times in your creative mojo and then at the silliest times ideas pop into your head
well... that's how this card came to be when I was about to head off to bed last night.

  • I stamped the girls dress in light brown ink on an off white card scrap and then ran it through the Cuttlebug with a new EF... then swiped Speckled Egg DO over the raised sections and water coloured the hem, sash and neck with Broken China DI, and fussy cut it out
  • Stamped the whole girl image on white card and watercoloured it with DI and added detail with coloured pencils, and fussy cut it out and attached the dress
  • Being a tall image I decided to make a slim line card...
  • Found an embossing folder with a repeat pattern so I could emboss a long piece of white card.. then sponged Speckled Egg DO along the edge
  • Embossed a strip of matching blue card with the sentiment strip and highlighted the raised with Broken China DI.
  • Assembled the elements using foam tape on the girl image on a matching blue card

Thanks for visiting  ---  have a Wonderful Creative weekend - cheers

Friends are the Essence of Life

Today the reveal for the January Card Chain Challenge went up... My card was sent off to  Dee in Kenya (via her sister in UK)  .....
I do hope she receives it one day!!!
Hope all our CCC friends are safe and well

I managed to use lots of elements for this card... the colour palette, sketch, theme -flowers and friendship, and technique -colouring.
I hunted out some small flowers from all my sets and per the sketch - randomly masked and stamped and gold embossed them on kraft coloured card,  I used Distress Inks to blend pink and white diagonally across the panel, also stamped two flowers on white card, and fussy cut them, then I used Distress Oxide inks to watercolour the flowers and to sponge pinks shades to those on the card panel, adding Nuvo clear crystal drops to the flower centres and to finish the panel - stamped and gold embossed the sentiment.  I layered the panel with gold and bright pink card on a kraft card and to add some zing - brushed some sparkly Perfect Pearls over the flowers

Thanks for popping in, hope you have a wonderful creative week

Dies:
