Happy Birthday

Not sure why I always seem to leave making a card for Virginia's View till the last week, because I really do love to join in this challenge. Virginia has so many fabulously inspiring guests to encourage our creativeness and so many super cardmakers posting their creations, it's wonderful what new ideas/techniques you can gather into your stash of "I'm going to try that".
So here's my card for Challenge #13 - All Things Embossed.
I do remember how blown away I was when I first saw Gold Embossing...WOW, that won me and I've been at it now for many years - we used to use the heat from a toaster to melt the powder as heat guns weren't quite on the market here in Australia....the toasters had gold speckles on them.
I've made a simple card with pearl gold embossed swirls along one side and sponged over with pale peach chalk ink. Then a swirly stamped and embossed sentiment. No bling just the sparkle and shine from the embossing (which also makes it hard to photograph)

ps - can't believe it's 12 months of challenges for Virginia's View, where did that time go, congrats Virginia and happy 1st blog birthday

Happy Birthday

A quick and simple card for the challenge at Seize the Birthday - topping - to make the sentiment the focal point. I stamped a medallion in light grey so there was just a hint of something else on the card...and then simple stamped the sentiment on top. Mounted the front panel on a red layer and onto a square-ish card. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Our Beautiful World

it was turn to suggest the theme for the week...
a famous movie line from Dirty Harry movie with Clint Eastwood,
"Go ahead, make my day"
....so what makes my day??
This is my favourite mug and every morning I start my day with a cup of tea....
I like to sit outside in the early morning sunshine, enjoy the peace and breath in the fresh start of a new day.
Of course the boys pester me for a feed while the kettle boils....
This enjoyable routine is a lovely way to start my day....which leads onto spending time in my craft room.
Thanks for taking a peek and if you would like to join in and share you own photos please pop over to the Our Beautiful World blog and post your pics. Then take a minute to visit the other team members blogs and leave them a kind comment.

Friends are Angels....

When I saw the CAS(E) this Sketch CTS#114 layout this week I just knew I'd have to make a card...I love this technique here - Easy Triple Time Stamping. So I dug out all my butterfly stamps and selected a few and a swirl stamp for the background. I chose Butterflies as my "Things that Fly" for the Wednesday Simon Says Stamps challenge.
To finish the card I stamped, embossed and fussy cut a butterfly and added some Kindyglitz to it and the main butterfly with sentiment.  Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Sending Happy Thoughts

Well this is about the first Clean and Simple card I have made for ages without dithering about it for ages.  I used an old favourite Hero Arts shadow stamp and ink, embossed and stamped just the flower three time, then free hand drew in the stems.  A very sweet sentiment from Flourishes finished the card....I love the colours I chose and am playing along with Fusion Card challenge - Floral colour photo inspiration. I also used the sketch layout at Stamplorations challenge #29. I am playing along again at the Card Concept #30 - Thinking of You photo inspiration and at a local blog - Scrapbook Fantasies - Shades of Purple

Dream and Discover

I've made my card with a beach scene for the Cue Card - Tropical over at CAS.ology week 137.
I used Distress Inks to create the beach landscape and added sea foam with a white gel pen. Then I stamped the palm trees by adding marker colour direct to the stamp and embossed it in clear to lift it off the card a bit. I found I had a bucket and spade die so cut them and then fashioned a sand castle with DI. Finished the card by adding a bright blue layer and a sentiment I decided to split in the corner. Share a smile...Happy Friday Smiles week 110.  Today I am sharing a few more photos of gorgeous Sophie from our last visit. Firstly here she is with mum and a new pack of crayons and paper, of course Claire the doll had to be part of the action.
And now she is showing Pa her drawing skills.
She also loves her books and is quite happy sitting on this Nanna's knee for a story.

Guess who is smiling the most.....ME!! I love spending time with her.
So what has made you happy this week...please join in over at Annies blog and share your joy. Thanks for taking a peek Robyn

Don't Forget To Smile

After browsing the challenges this afternoon, I couldn't resist playing along at Time Out Challenges #26 who are ****Celebrating their 1st Birthday****.
It was this designer paper I had in mind and I wasn't sure I was ever going to use it but there you go - a frame theme!!!
I cut the centers out of two frames and placed a couple of stamped images...twigs I thought because of the inspiration photo and then a bird singing out loud for the birthday blog.  Then I made my own me to go with the sentiment on a 'new' set I bought this week, and even found a camera to stamp, to finish off the card. Simple but I like it...thanks for taking a peek Robyn
